I've struggled with the same not-enough-sleep issue for years. Still working on it, but have definitely noticed a difference in results when I'm getting enough sleep. (and Thanks for listening to my podcast! )

Many have experienced exactly this, @Georgesear, and I see your acknowledging it as a sign that your mindset has reached the placed it needs to be for long-term change. Health and wellness don't have a finish line. Best of luck, and keep reaching out for help & support when you need it!

My sincerest apologies, @freakhazerd2424 - I haven't scrapped your interview or anything. We've just been extremely busy, and I somehow missed your email (sorry!). Hang in there, the winter was a slowdown time for us. I'm releasing episode 155 this morning and have yours slated as #160. :-)

Congrats, @zgdijeta! You've clearly worked very hard to get here. What do you think has made the biggest difference for you in your success so far?

Best of luck with the new job! Next episode with Lilia is about to be published, too.

You're on to something. There's actually proof that people with strong emotional connections to their goals increase their odds of achievement.

Glad to hear! The latest episode with Victoria is up now, too. In a very low moment in her life, a television show about dramatic transformations gave Victoria the boost to transform herself. http://tipsofthescale.com/148-victoria-silva/

You rock, Les! :)

That's really great feedback - thank you!

Thanks so much for sharing this with me. This is the feedback that keeps me going!

Thanks for asking! I do have some products coming to the site over the next 2 months - tee shirts, wristbands, water bottles, and (hopefully) discounted food scales. What would you like to see on a tee shirt?:* TipsOfTheScale logo (large or small) * Motivational quote * Motivational image * A combination of the above *…

Yes! Big virtual high-five from here. This is great to hear.

That's a good point about exercise in general - there's almost no better stress relief!

I can't express how much this means to me. I'm working hard to grow TipsOfTheScale in new ways, but the podcast will always be my "baby" and it brings me joy to know it's having an impact. What have you heard in an episode that's had the biggest impact on you?

Yes! I'm glad you clicked with weight lifting. I'm admittedly a little biased, but I think it's one of the most empowering ways to transform your body. I grew up feeling powerless all the time, and there's definitely an emotional link (for me) between the confidence gained on my weight-loss journey, and the physical…

I've found that sugar varies greatly with the brand and type of milk. My family drinks a brand called Lactaid (for the lactose intolerant), which has the same amount of sugar whether we buy Whole, 2%, or Fat-Free. In my experience, it's mostly store brands that have a significant difference between types. We also drink…

Bump! Mikie -- curious what route you took, and what kind of results/progress or challenges you've encountered.

Really appreciate that feedback- thank you. What's been working well (or been challenging) for you in your personal journey?

 Thanks! I've interviewed lots of great people who are doing amazing things: http://tipsofthescale.com/podcast-timeline/

Good for you for taking action to turn things around! 2 questions for you. What would you attribute the 80-pound gain to? and What is your plan for attacking those 80 pounds?

Visit IIFYM.com and use the TDEE Calculator there to determine the right caloric goal for you. Given the stats you provided, it appears you need to eat between 2850-3440 to lose weight. (Closer to 2850 obviously means faster loss, but stay above that.) (People will likely freak out here about those numbers, as the mob…

This is extremely common, and usually with the people closest to us, unfortunately. Responses here show that you're clearly not alone. The reasons for it are situational, but it's important to know that their reaction is all about *them* and not you. Here are some scenarios to consider. * ANGER: Your self-improvement work…

Throwing in another data point for comparison. These are my numbers from this morning. I've de-loaded once on the squat so far, and twice on OHP. M/34/5'9"/185 lbs 245 lbs - Squat 200 lbs - Bench 170 lbs - Row 145 lbs - OHP (first stall was 130; steady progress since switching to 3x3) 225 lbs - Deadlift

The most effective tabata exercises are sprints and the stationary bike. This is because there isn't a "pause" in reps and max effort can be maintained for the entire 20s work rounds. Give 8 rounds at full run-for-your-life sprint speed and you'll see nothing else comes close. Heavy bag work is up there - and a personal…

The actual 4-minute total would be in the 30-40 calorie range for most average adults, but as another person mentioned, it burns far more than that over the following 24 hours when compared to other typical cardio. It's really difficult to track unless you wear a heart rate monitor over 2 days and do/eat/sleep exactly the…

Quick summary answer: Tabata is only a 4-MINUTE-LONG protocol. Calories burned in that time will be 30-40 for average adults. Read on for 2 two things you need to know: One - The actual tabata protocol is only 4 minutes long, and any program going longer than that but claiming to be tabata is flat out misrepresenting…
