Absolutely they can be friends. One of my best friends is a guy. We've been friends for almost 20 years now. The awesome part is that we both have the same name (different spellings). It confuses things in a funny way when we're out with our other friends and significant others. It was even funnier when we lived together…

I love snowshoeing, but sadly the mountains near me this season are in poor shape. Last I checked, only half the trails were open with very little new snowfall. If I'm lucky I'll maybe be able to get up there once or twice before the spring melts.

I found probiotics and really watching sugars and starches for a few weeks to be quite helpful when my IBS was at it's worst (like you, bloating up and having pain within 20 minutes of eating). I hope you start to feel better soon. Wish I had more things to suggest.

I also can't do whey (or soy) so I've been using vegan protien supplements. There are several flavoured ones out there but many have stevia. Vega makes one and so does the company that makes Greens + (Genuine Health Vegan powder I think it's called, the Vanilla is not bad, but it has stevia which makes adding fruit taste…

I second the advice to see a different doctor and consult a physiotherapist. There are exercises you can do with back pain and a physio would be the best person to help you figure out which ones would benefit you the most. I also think gentle/possibly modified yoga/pilates would also be a great way to work on strength and…

I'm sorry to hear you're having health troubles. I went through a strict GF period while determining if gluten was causing my bloat, lethary and aches on top of exacerbating some of my endometriosis symptoms. It was hard at first. I won't kid you. I was a carb lover to the max. But if cutting it out makes you feel better,…

Thanks anyway. I'm in Canada and I've seen a few NOW brand things in shops, but did not know they had a protien supplement. I'll have to go on a hunt and maybe they sell one without flavour.

I get occasional hypoglycemia if I'm not careful about what I eat and when. The worst for me is shaking hands with headache. I've actually cut my hand because I was too shakey to use a knife properly while preparing something to eat. I feel like I should know better as I was an RN. What I find helps keeps this at bay is to…

I've had 2 Mirena IUDs (I have bad endo) over the last 10 years and as I've never had children, I had a problem with mine migrating with uterine cramping. Exercise/movement induced as well as with my period. Usually it would correct itself but one time my doctor had to intervene as I cramped so hard it came partially out.…

I love fizzy water. I've never been much of a pop/soda/juice drinker, but I do like sparkling water with a citrus twist, muddled fruit, a splash of fruit juice or if my tummy is upset, a mix of fresh lemon juice, grated fresh ginger and a bit of honey. It's like DIY ginger beer. This is great with fresh mint too. When I…

I can completely relate to hormonal bloating/water weight gain. What I've found helpful is to include more foods like celery, melon and cucumbers into my diet, especially around PMS time, as well as being mindful of how much salt I eat (I really crave salts and fats when I have my monthly). I also ramp up my fibre intake…

I consider clean eating to be a diet based mostly on whole foods (not processed or minimally processed). Fresh, frozen, canned...as long as it's not overly processed (usually carb heavy foods tend to be the most processed I've noticed). And by processed I don't mean meat or grains being ground to make hamburger or flour…

Sauteed with a bit of butter/oil and julienned onion, chopped shallot or garlic, S & P (this works with leafy greens and quicker cooking veggies or those where you may still want them partially crisp) Roasted and seasoned with herbs/spices Steamed and seasoned with herbs/spices/S & P Mashed with herbs and a bit of stock…
