  • I wear a Bodymedia Link - if I spend a good 2-3 hours cleaning, depending on how instense it is I have burned as much as 750 calories over that time period. I definitely count that as activity - I'd burn less on the elliptical for 2 hours!
  • Yes, after finishing my first half marathon. It was the most joyous moment of my life to that point and the only place my emotions had to go was out my eyeballs apparently. I have no panic of anxiety issues and never have by the way.
  • Based on my activity log I burn the same 1.0 per minute when sleeping as when sitting at my desk at work. I noticed this almost immediately when I first started using my link - that my job is basically the same as being bedridden. I immediately starting getting up once an hour to make a lap around the cubes at work - 10…
  • Small Philly Cheesesteak and tortilla chips - 840 calories - worth every bite and it's not even a temptation, I'll end the day still on goal. You just have to pay for what you eat.
  • Until about 5 months ago I'd never run farther than a 1/2 mile in my life. My joke was that I only ran if I was being chased or there was a fire. I always had the same problem - I couldn't control my breathing, every part of my body started to hurt after 2 minutes. I actually started doing strength training about 2 months…
  • I love that you brought up the butt bling - every time I see a female over the age of 16 with rhinestones on her butt I want to pull her to the side and give her a good talking too!
  • I can't just go shopping for clothes anymore, I have to order most of my clothes online because there are no smaller sizes carried. It's definitely a first world problem, but would it kill a retailer to have some size 2 pants in stock! It's mostly annoying because now that I am smaller, I thought shopping would be fun but…
  • I'm 5'3", started at 137 and had a goal of 118, right now I'm at 117 and have been maintaining that weight for the last 4 months. However I started a body weight bootcamp program when I finally hit 118 - at that point I was a size 6-8 and right now I'm a size 2. Don't obsess about the scale, it'll drive you crazy. Take…
  • Monday - 1 hour bootcamp (mix of HIIT drills and mostly body weight exercises though we do some arm work with 10-15 lb weights) Tuesday - interval run (no more than 5 miles) Wednesday - 1 hour bootcamp Thursday - interval run (no more than 3 miles) Friday - rest Saturday - 1 hour bootcamp, 5 mile tempo run, tennis lessons…
  • I have a BMR of 1,051 (I'm short - 5'3" and only 8 lbs from goal) so I try to net at 1,100 calories per day. This is only ever an issue for me on days that I don't exercise, which for me is usually just one day a week. Here's how today went by the way in case you were wondering Breakfast - 231 calories (cofee with fat free…
  • Good for you! My first one is a week from this coming Saturday, so excited!
  • For breakfast = oatmeal For when I need a sugary fix = Trix or Fruity Pebbles (on really bad days this becomes my dinner)
  • Without seeing your food diary or knowing your stats my generic advice to you would be to take your measurements, find out what your body fat percentage is once a month and take photos that day as well. I lost 14 pounds pretty easily to start with, then started boot camp & strength training and got really discouraged…
  • I lost about 14 pounds and was still wearing all my old clothes, I started a boot camp 5 days a week with just 6 pounds to go. So far I have only lost about 3 pounds of that remaining total but I've gone down 3 pants sizes. I had to use a binder clip the other day at work to hold up a pair of my old pants! Add strength…
  • Answer: You don't. Your choices are yours and his are his, people in relationships don't always have to do everything together. And if he sees that it's important to you he might choose to support you with remarks about how great you look or what great progress you are making but he isn't required to do what you are doing…
  • Monday I had 3,000 calories (normally I net under 1200 with actiivty). While I was eating my Jimmy Johns for lunch and then enjoying my frappuccino and brownie for dinner I never once felt bad. The next morning I got up like normal, went to boot camp and never looked back. You can't spend every single day of your life…
  • If you're really interesting in making activity a part of your life then the only really beneficial advice I can give is that you invest in an HRM. I didn't have one when I first started and I can tell you that MFP was overestimating my burn my between 60-80 calories per hours for all of the activities that I was doing.

  • Same here - 5'3", been between 117-120 for what is starting to seem like forever. Goal is 110-115 so I guess I shouldn't be complaining. I was losing 1.5-2.5 pounds per week when I started at 137 so it's been very frustrating. I also didn't start exercising at all until about the same time I started MFP (6 weeks ago) and I…
  • I'm doing the same actually. I lost 20 lbs on WW and then started using MFP and an HRM so I could figure out how many actual activity points I was earning (note, about 100 calories burned = 1 activity point by the way). At one point I decided to cancel and switch strictly to MFP but during the time before my WW membership…
  • I find that it's not, you have to go to the market more often though which is why most people probably think that it is more expensive. They are used to buying in bulk, even when they are at a regular grocery store. So...they purchase more than they can actually eat before it does what perishable food does and goes bad.
  • Grapes of Wrath! All those pages and all I ever remember is that she breast feeds the adult man in the end and it still creeps me out 15 years later!
  • I want to smack anyone who uses irregardless in the face. Also, any time I see "First Annual...." on anything it makes my eye twitch.
  • Cheese & crackers!
  • Thanks for the link, it has one of the better explanations of activity level I've seen.
  • It's not really a quote, but it's what I think about when I want to quit during exercise or when I want to stuff my face with something I know I shouldn't have: BRA FAT!
  • Thanks for the article, I just started a bootcamp about 10 days ago after losing 17 pounds and went up 2 pounds. I was so depressed that I considered having a cheeseburger for breakfast! This really helps.
