  • Curious about the program. Your Shape: Fitness Evolved? That's what I use anyway. Personally I don't log the exercise with my Xbox; but that's because I have a FitBit. I don't want to double dip the burned calories so I just use whatever my FitBit reports back to MFP. I also use wrist weights; 1.5lb per wrist. Honestly I…
  • If it was a pretty major change in your diet maybe it could be your body getting use to the different quantities of foods? When in doubt, ask your Doctor.
  • As I don't have cable to get TBS, I haven't been able to watch the show. However I was at University with Alana. We were both in the gaming club on campus (of which I was the Treasurer for).
  • Something that has been helping me is working down to a calorie limit, not going all at once. I started with going from eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted to following MFP's guidelines. It put me at 2280 calories. That was enough of a jump. Eventually I got use to eating what has a reduced amount of calories for…
  • We started with just not buying soda at all. Instead we got fruit juices and drink mixes like Gatorade and the like in and effort to cut excess calories. Eventually we stopped getting those too when I realized how much sugar was in those drinks and thus, weren't really cutting as many calories as we thought. My husband now…
  • I hear about these things and the first thought I have is of Adipose, the miracle drug that makes your fat just walk away. If it's using psuedo-science language or has that 'to good to be true' scent to it, then it probably is and I'd rather spend my money on something else more tried and true. Like an above commenter…
  • I've got the FitBit One and absolutely adore it. I wear it every where. Just clip it to my bra band and good to go. If I remember to clip it high enough I use it as a watch too since my toddler destroyed mine. I love that it tracks flights of stairs. The streets round my house are extremely busy so I don't feel safe…
  • The Welch's Sparkling grape juice. My family rarely kept alcohol in the house. Mum only kept what she might need for the occasional recipe and Dad would maybe have 1 beer during the game on Sunday's. For special occasions we'd get the sparkling grape juice for something fizzy and fancy. So for Christmas this year I picked…
  • I don't think I would unless you have a robust support structure in place to encourage you to go on a regular basis and hold you accountable to skipping gym days. You'd said you'd tried gym memberships 3 times and hadn't stuck with them after a few months. Without a system to back you can you honestly tell yourself that…
  • My mum and grandmum are the biggest ones on me about my weight. I spent years of just smiling and nodding to their comments and doing my best to not let them bug me. At some random point I'd had enough and when they mentioned my weight to me one day I explained, as calmly as I could, that yes, I realized I was over weight.…
  • Agreed. I'm allergic to all seafood. All of it. If it came from the water, I can't eat it. The smell of seafood makes me ill. If it was my office I'd take it as a kindness for people to not heat up/cook seafood in breakroom. Peanut allergies are also something to not be toyed with. My husband has a co-worker that is so…
  • As for the Zip, well, it's alright I guess. But since it doesn't track sleep or stairs or have the silent alarm feature, it's essentially an over glorified pedometer that comes in pretty colors. If that's all you wanted you could spend $10-15 on a pedometer at Walmart or something and log steps manually. The price…
  • I've got the One and I LOVE it. I have it set up to sync with MFP. Instead of logging exercises I just use the FitBit adjustment that it gives me. For workouts at home I switch it to 'stop watch mode' so the tracking is a little more sensitive and my workout is marked more clearly when I look at my data on FitBit's…
  • I hear you. Our daughter is 20 months old and it can be tricky to squeeze in a workout. Is there a time when your little one goes down for a nap? For me, I workout with a program I have for my xbox. As soon as my daughter goes down for her nap I zip right downstairs. While the xbox is loading I pick up her toys and such so…
  • Oh and my husband and I discovered that a toddler can double for a dumbbell on certain exercises tonight and she thought it was hilarious to be lifted and carried all over the house.
  • I hear you. It was rough when our daughter was younger and seemed to resist my attempts at a regular nap schedule. Now she's 20 months and down to one, long, daily nap about noon-ish every day. Right before she goes down for that nap I try to get all the toys put away and keep her out of them. As soon as she's in bed I…
  • Every Wednesday at my TOPS meeting. I have a scale but I don't trust it anymore. It can give me back to back readings that can vary +10- lbs. For a while I'd take my weight 10 times and then average, but it just takes too long to do that and 9 out of 10 wasn't accurate anyway. At TOPS they've a nice Dr. office scale so I…
  • Check for local farmer markets. I live in the central New York area and we have a farmer's market that's open every Saturday year round. When we went this past Saturday I got all the produce I needed for the whole week and then some for $17. We've been finding it helps if you plan out your meals for the whole week. That…
  • Another place to look at would be 'Play It Again Sports' if you have one in your area. You can search on their website for the closest one to you. They buy and sell used sports equipment of all kinds. They do sell new things too, but by in large it's used I think. If you have a couple in your area it's worth checking the…
  • I have the One and love it. Finally found out why I wake up tired a lot of mornings. I wake up a lot during the night apparently. 15-20 times a night in roughly a 6 hour period. As for jump roping, I don't know if it would track it as accurately. But in a pinch you could log that yourself or set your tracker to stop watch…
  • Check online for spices. There's a garam masala blend I fell in love with that our grocery store randomly stopped carrying. I found it online on Amazon for a fraction of the cost as compared to what I was paying for it at the store and that's with the shipping. My MIL has a subscription to some spice club too. I don't know…
  • Roasted Chickpeas are my go-to crunchy snack now. A 1/4 cup of those typically kills any cravings I've got. I try to get an air tight container in my kitchen at all times for cravings. Stops me from snacking on other things like Goldfish crackers.
  • Roasted chickpeas have become my 'go to' dry crunch snack. In terms of crunchy snacks it's better for you than a lot of others. I'm not a huge fan of popcorn as it gets stuck in my retainer and is a PITA to get out. Best things really is that since chickpeas don't have a lot of flavor on their own you can season them with…
  • How long do you press it for? I mean I knew to marinate after pressing, but it still winds up being bland and weird. Haven't tried freezing, thawing, and then pressing. Might try that next time. I'm guessing maybe I'm not pressing it long enough? Normally I've pressed it for about 30minutes or so. I'm hoping to figure it…
  • Roasted Chickpeas Oven to 450. Toss chickpeas with a little olive oil and sea salt, garlic powder, seasoning of choice... Spread out on a baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and dried out. Great crunch snack.
  • I've had trouble with tofu every time I've tried it. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. I get the extra firm typically since that's the sort you're suppose to be able to grill. It always winds up flavourless, even after marinating for at least an hour or two, and crumbling.
  • I get mine at Lane Bryant and have for years. I LOVE their jeans (although they just rolled out a new style that I hate). Their classic jeans I do love though. They never change. I can walk into the store, grab the 'blue' style in my size, pay and leave. I know they'll fit. I do typically try them on anyway just so I can…
  • Roasted chickpeas
  • I was so disappointed with my Dr. that I actually started trying to find a new one. There's more to the story.. but I think I'll make it a blog entry instead.
  • Oh and for crisps or something crunch look up a recipe for roasted chickpeas. In my area they average about $1 a can. A 1/4 cup of those provide me all the crunch I crave and a bit of that saltiness as I flavour mine with a dash of sea salt.
