  • This is pretty much it. You make a good choice, or constant good choices, and other people feel guilty that their choices aren't so good!
  • It is hard. I get a bit of a wind up about it at work occasionally. But at times like these (busy social festiove times) I do let up on myself. I am still exercising and still counting, but for everyone around me this is a time of year that does centre around food. Personally at this time of year I am looking to maintain,…
  • Bump, some good ideas here. I make a low cal dressing with 0% yoghurt and a touch of mayo and harissa and have that with cooked potatoes, tomatoes, spring onions and some lean meat or tuna. Sometimes I mix up the potatoes for lentils, just out of a can, or add a boiled egg. Add a handful of salad on the side and bob's your…
  • I don;t do this but a friend of mine does - she has porrige made with water for breakfast, home meade soup or salad for lunch, sometimes tuna with the salad, and then at dinner time normally something like a low cal veggie burger with some veggies. She is doing it for the health benefits rathger than for eight loss, and…
  • It's a fickle world we live in. Unfortunately, until people _see_ you eating the right foods/exercising/making progress, it's all a bit like "yeah whatever ok". To be fair I have said a thousand times over that I have wanted to lose weight but it's never been the right time for me before. Now that changes are taking place…
  • Maybe that's it - I am starting to see it, but it has been slow and steady. Hey hum, I will get used to it/learn to deal with it in due course!!
  • OMG serious?! There have been a couple of posts like this. I mean I know losing a lot of weight is hard and a lot of folk on the TV have had bypass/bands etc. My stepmum had a gastric band but she is the only person I actually know to have had one. SO rude. At least ask how it's been done rather than make an assumption!!!
  • I think this will be a good response to use. I've never taken a compliment well, but this is a good way of saying I'm getting what I'm working for and we don't need to bang on about it!
  • Exactly! It's OK to say "you've lost weight" but to say "you've put on weight" is basically the same thing. If it's people who I know and love telling me well done etc that's OK - they see how hard I work and know how food/my weight have affected me my whole life. Was just odd from a virtual stranger!
  • I have a polar FT4 and it does what I need it to :) It has a chest strap that can go in the washing machine and a watch to monitor your work out with. the higher up number polar models (ie FT7) just had more capacity for logging workouts for more money but I log my workouts here :) Hope this helps!
  • Generally I exercise straight after work, in my way home. I have to walk past the gym which helps but it does mean being organised. And normally I have a snack around 330/4 to make sure I'm not ravenous by the time I get in. As for morning exercising... Never really done it but I'm about to this week. Booked in for some…
  • Love this :-) I'm down 19, excited to get to 20 for a proper milestone. Thanks for sharing!!
  • Love my FT4, best purchase of the year!

  • I have lost around 18lbs. I was feeling a big disheartened about not dropping a full size in that time, but then it occurred to me that I never faced up to being in a size 20. All my 18 stuff is now huge and I am only just getting into 16, and that's with stretch. You have already lost a size, just not the one you wanted -…
  • No PB2 in the shops here in the UK - I am going to have to bite the bullet and spend £7 on it from amazon marketplace. I hope it's worth it! :)
  • Bump... I love lentils, gonna give this a go next week :)
  • I have tried them - I got them from Amazon (UK). I think they were OK, a similar consistency to rice noodles, but a bit more sloppy. Two things though - they're expensive! And they smell a bit funky. I had read somewhere about the smell, and the tip was to rinse them in plenty of water. I did, and they were OK, but despite…
  • Fantastic. Truly inspiring :-)

  • When I add rice I always weigh dry and when I search I do something like "white basmati rice dry" :)

  • Look up what he's been doing in Aberdeenshire in Scotland... He might not be a political figure but he certainly evokes political feelings!! Also, IMHO he's an utter idiot :-)
  • I don't so much have a cheat day as an occasional cheat meal, if we're out to the theatre or something. I do think it boosts me to work harder other days, and even with "cheating" I still count everything. Actually, I was at a bit of a plateau not long ago, and that coincided with a week off work and an unavoidably social…
  • Running aggravates my back, and frankly I hate it. Hurts my knees and ankles too! I do high impact once a week, normally Zumba (also aggravates my back and ankles a touch but I really enjoy it) and the rest is cross trainer/elliptical, walking, hillwalking, swimming and weights. Lost 6kg so far, another 25 to go, feel free…
  • I do all my weights raw and include cooking agents such as oil, I measure it all. I figure that with lean meat the lost its going to lose is water :-) but that is just my opinion!
  • Adding you... This is the first time I've felt in control of what I am eating every day! Started at 222 currently 209 :-) x
  • A friend of mine has a couple, they look lovely, not too obvious which I think is the point :-)
  • Love this! It's so true... I have days where I'm bad, but I log it all regardless, never enough to gain but yip this is true!!
