2nd hand stores are great for the journey down the scale...I'm 11 lbs from goal and am planning on investing in a quality wardrobe when I get there. I recently went to a nice place and tried on clothes that I never would've tried before. I almost didn't recognize the person reflected in the mirror. It was a huge boost to…

so sweet and flattering!

Thank you for sharing your story. You will get your bada$$ back. (you're still bada$$ to me) My motto when I'm not feeling it...Fake it till you make it. Somehow that helps me get over the hump. Best of luck

It's definitely hard living with others who are not eating the same foods. Can you designate a cupboard just for yourself? I keep my foods separate so I don't have to see the temptations in the other cupboards.

I get up at 4 a.m. I sleep in my workout clothes with my shoes/keys/water bottle on the counter next to the door. I also make plans to meet a friend there...that way I'm accountable to somebody else. If you can't talk a friend into joining you, make a new one at the gym. Best of luck!

Awesome! Dropping sizes is one of my favorite nsvs.

Get rid of the old clothes. :) Thrift stores are wonderful if you still have weight to lose and don't want to invest in an expensive wardrobe. Wearing properly fitting clothes does wonders for your self esteem and general outlook. You deserve that!

I love swimming! It's my go to exercise. I try to do it 2 to 3 times a week. Our local physical therapy place has a resistance pool where they offer water zumba and other classes. So, there are options if you're not a good freestyle/breast/backstroke swimmer. Being a former swimmer, I prefer to do intervals and long swims.…

You may have been last in that group, but you totally lapped all the people still sitting on their couch! Great job!

For the most part, I've had positive comments about my weight loss. I get quite a bit of people asking for advice then coming up with excuses why counting calories and exercise won't work. One comment that hurt a bit...my husband's friend said to him, in front of me, after I'd lost about 50 lbs. "watch out, she might get…

Did your feet move faster than a walk? Then you were running! Congratulations! I just started jogging around Christmas '13. Yesterday, I did my first outdoor run of the year...5 miles. I never thought I'd be a "runner" It feels awesome. Happy running!

That is great! Apnea contributes to so many health problems. I've been getting much better sleep since my snoring went away with the weight loss.

Jumping rope double unders...I own you rope! ;)

A 5k run/walk is a great goal, nsv! I started with just walking...30 minutes, 40, 60, then on to C25K, C210K, and now half marathon training. You just keep at it, and keep reassessing your goals.
-
Congrats! That's such a great feeling!

I started at 41, 7 months ago...C25K, C210K, and now training for half marathon. I think starting slow has been the key to staying injury free (so far, knock on wood.) I'm slow but I am up to 6.5 mile runs. You can do it!

Nearly everybody hits slumps...we're human, not superhuman. :) I find, if I put on my gym clothes and tennis shoes right away that usually motivates me to get going. I also do quite a bit of self talking. It's hard to break a promise to yourself if you look yourself in the eye in the mirror and say it aloud. "I promise to…

Congrats! such a great feeling!

I started on mfp after I'd already lost about 10 lbs, didn't start pics until I'd lost 20. As hard as it is, I definitely recommend taking photos right from the beginning. You'll be glad you did. I've lost another 10 since the last set was taken. I'm about 10 pounds from my initial goal weight. The losses have slowed down…

I did 5% loss goal/rewards...new shoes, manicure, speedo and goggles, running shoes, etc. I also set up non scale related goals/rewards...run 5 miles, new running tights, etc.

Lol...I actually say this to myself as I swim...love swimming for exercise and peace of mind. Great advice from everybody. I broke my goals into 5% increments with a nonfood reward... 5 ~ sexy shoes 10 ~ new speedo and goggles 15 ~ pedicure 20 ~ winter running tights you get the picture. I also set small non scale goals…

So, I had just gotten home from a 5 a.m. workout, my son wanted me to show him my "guns" ;)
