I don't think that's necessarily a good thing either.......

See bolded....I hit 12% (or below) at 172 and I'm 2" shorter than you. You may lose weight fast, but BF% change may not be as drastic as you hope.

Are you in yet, or prepping for the entry to basic? Also, just curious....what branch? 50 in 60sec sounds like a lot.

I don't think anyone here thinks you can't gain strength in a deficit and don't doubt that you did....because this: and basically the other 15-20 people that said the exact same thing.... gaining strength =/= gaining mass.
-
OK....then my assumption was correct.... I don't see how these pictures are supposed to prove anything? Are you saying they recomped....or they ate at a constant deficit and stayed the exact same weight....and thus assuming they gained muscle and lost fat at a 1:1 ratio?

I had one happen today....I know, it takes a while to get there. At the little 24hr place I go there are about 9 pieces of cardio equipment facing the side wall and 4 TV's. All the ellipticals are to one side, treadmills to the other. All the ellipticals were spoken for, took up 3 of the TV's and all those 3 TV's were on…

Agreed....it could be a recomp or the results of a cut / bulk / cut, and also agreed that it could be from BF% being lost and little to no muscle was actually gained. Reading the thread I thought the crux of the back and forth was about gaining measurable muscle fast enough to cancel out fat loss at a 1:1 ratio....and I…

Am I the only one confused on how those pics are supposed to show that you can lose weight and gain muscle at the same time while in a deficit? Yep, totally agreed that weight loss isn't linear. That's pretty well known around these parts, specifically when OPs start a thread about their weight loss slowing or stopping.…

Yes please

LOL, I think that was eluded to just a day or two ago....I think in a thread about starting jogging.

Pretty much what I do too. I have a fitbit where I care more about the steps and I know the distance it gives me is off. I just map my course and there are pace timing websites out there where I put in the distance/time and get the pace back.

I've been known to have a beer or 3 during marathons. The Twins Cities marathon finishes up Summit Ave which houses a few frats (University of St. Thomas...I think). They usually have a few kegs out and there's been a couple times when that was the coldest thing to drink on the course.....good times.

This^^, You're going to need to find the weight room (a couple days a week), soccer once a week won't do it. Why was that flagged?

What you're looking for doesn't necessarily come from just doing core exercises, you can't spot reduce....it's not like core exercises specifically remove fat from your midsection. Deficit for fatloss - cardio if you like it, for heart health (and for the added calorie burn) and full body resistance training for muscle…

Can you share some of these journals and their evidence? If there's anyone on this board that will dive into scientific sources and check them out, its @AnvilHead

No, if anything I'd make sure we stay there.
