  • Actually, no, I would not rather have a cake made with "real" sugar, butter, etc. Different things work for different people. Personally, I think if one takes themselves too seriously all of the time, they will eventually implode. And you sound like you are on a mission to convert everyone to your way of thinking. No…
  • All of us are here because we struggle with health and food. Everyone has to find their own way to a healthy body, whether it be to strictly count calories and still eat fast food twice a week, or go vegan. Everyone's body is different, and tolerates different things. If you are getting results, or at least not gaining…
  • As long as you weigh yourself at the same time each time, with about the same amount of clothes on, it is all relative. Pick a time and stick with it. I weight first thing in the morning naked, because that is going to be the lowest, but it does not matter, as long as you are consistent.
  • It is a very individual thing when it comes to what we eat to lose weight. I don't watch sodium because I have no blood pressure issues and trade off the sodium for some taste if I am buying processed dinners, etc. I had gastric bypass surgery, so I look closely at protein (the more the better). But in general, you are…
  • I logged - and I went somewhere for dinner where there was nothing healthy. But whatever - it was about 1500 calories including the wine and the 1/2 piece of pie. Way too much, but it does not mean that all is lost - just back on the plan immediately. I wish I would have skipped the candied yams and pie, but I didn't, so I…
  • I agree that most people think gastric bypass is easy, and it is very hard. I am determined to lose this 51 pounds, eating healthy and exercising. I went from 325 to 120, then up to 171, but I am not going to beat myself up. Lots was going on in my life - now I'm back on track and that's the important thing.
  • Boy did I mess up today. Knew I was going to eat a burger (not fast food, homemade at a bbq) and allowed for that, with the bun, even, but then I ate a bratwurst, too. No bun, but still......I am over on my calories and my fat. I did not need it - I just thought I was hungry. Sometimes all of the planning in the world does…
  • I am logging for sure - for better or for worse.
  • I do the same thing, and sometimes just spread a wedge of the Laughing Cow Lite cheese on the Flat Out to save calories, then 1/4 cup Ragu Pizza Sauce (only 25 cals) and then whatever - 4 oz of 96/4 lean ground beef is only 130 cals, then mushrooms, or black olives, or onions, or other things. It is really filling, and…
  • Hi. I am new to your group. My name is Pat, I am from Denver, and I am almost 58. I am not big on joining things, but I really love myfitnesspal. I just started three weeks ago, and logging my food and exercise is really helping me. Talking to women around my age is great - I just can't get with the goals of bikinis, no…
  • I'm in, although November is mostly over. Maybe we can continue till the end of the year. Holiday food is bad enough without adding fast food. I work and live right by Chik-Fil-A, Burger King, Taco Bell, Arby's, McDonalds, Wendy's, etc. I have to also add Mexican food to my no-no list. I live in Colorado, and went to a…
  • I am in. This is great. How do you make you diary public? I will do it, through good days and bad days. Tomorrow my church group is doing a "burger and brats" bbq at a home for developmentally disabled women, complete with baked beans, dessert, and probably not much that's healthy. I'm not sure quite what to do, but…
  • I am almost 58 years old, and would love to try Zumba, but am afraid I won't be able to keep up. I need courage.
  • I do not eat processed sugar, and the only "sweet" things I eat are fruit and things like that. I am addicted to processed sugar, and once I start with that, and lots of bad type carbs, I can't stop. But if you can get through a few days, you won't even miss it. I am trying to eat most of my foods that have less processing…
  • I am going to make sure I get to the gym 3-4 times a week as usual, even if I need to switch days/times. Also, to stop and make sure I really really want something before I put it in my mouth. If I do, I will have a small amount. If not, I will skip it.
  • OK, got it, never mind.

  • Protein is good!!! I am over every day. But fruit and veggies don't generally have much protein.
