  • Well done to those who show a loss! I did not do too well on the sodium challenge.:ohwell: I'm hoping to do better this week. Would you like to continue the sodium challenge? Or would you prefer a new one? If you'd like to stick with the sodium, the challenge was 6 days out of 7 at or below RDA. For a new challenge, that…
  • That is one of my favorites! I haven't found a grilled meat it DOESN'T go great with! Pork, chicken, steak, fish, they're all good with this one. Pictsweet is another good brand.
  • Sorry I didn't check in yesterday! Apparently a new filter was loaded onto the server at work on Monday, and MFP is now blocked. Uggg. I did weigh in yesterday though, still no measurements. It's been a rough week at work, but it should get better after the 25th! (That's when school gets out! ) Not doing too spiffy…
  • Well, I did NOT weigh in this morning. I'll do it in the morning. Tomorrow night is my concert. (I teach 7-12 band & choir at a small rural school.) It's a bit of a stressful time. I am trying to not stress eat. However, since I bumped my calories up to maintenance, it seems like I have a bunch extra, even though it's only…
  • Great to see so many joining in! For this week's challenge, lets start simple. Increase your exercise by either 30 minutes, or 1/3 of your current. (ex. you usually walk 3 miles a week, so this week you'd walk 3 plus 1/3 of 3 which is a total of 4 miles for the week.)
  • Here's the new challenge I just set up! Join me if you'd like. I hope to see many of you there! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/226012-slim-down-for-september-challenge

  • I haven't weighed in this week yet. But I need a little vent. I thought LAST week was the week from Hades. Once again, I was proven wrong. I did not have any festivals this week, so THAT was better. Unfortunately something MUCH worse happened. ***WARNING: EMOTIONAL RELEASE FOLLOWING, MAY BE TOUGH TO TAKE FOR THOSE WITH ANY…

  • First of all, I will admit that I have not read most of the posts on here. So if I am repeating, I apologize! I went and looked thru a week's worth of your diary. I noticed a lot of food that was high in sodium. There is a long drawn out explanation for why sodium affects weight so much, but the short version is that for…

  • Actually that pic was from my wedding in Vegas LOL. Have they even finished the renovations there yet? I know it's been a while since i've driven by, but it seems it's always fenced off and construction crap laying all around. [/quote] I don't think the reno is done yet. But that looks just like their lobby used to with…

  • Another thing to consider is the calories that you would have burned if you slept for the amount of time you exercised. I don't usually worry about it if I'm only working for 30 min or so, but for anything over an hour I subtract it out. To figure your hourly burn, find your maintenance calories (if you're set to lose 1 lb…

  • Welcome back!! I've missed you! How is life going?
  • Today, I had to stay after school because there is a home basketball game, and I direct the band. I live 30 minutes from school, and it just doesn't make sense to drive all the way home and back. Well, the librarian (who I've become pretty good friends with this year) is starting a zumba class using the DVDs a couple days…
  • PEANUT BUTTER!!! Mmmmmm. PB and celery is a good 200+ cal snack. If you get PB&Co's Dark Chocolate Dreams Peanut Butter, it is FANTASIC with a banana or strawberries for almost 300 calories. If you don't like PB (or are allergic), try out some other nut butters. Or just go for nuts. They have TONS of great nutrients in…
  • You have several things on your side: 1) you're only 19. Youth makes it easier to drop the weight. Sadly, I was unaware of this at 19! 2) You have about 100 lbs to lose. The more you have to lose, the easier it is in the beginning. 3) You have the desire. If you don't want to do what it takes, it will make it much harder!…

  • We do eat at Subway very infrequently. When I do, I get the roast beef. It's lowest in sodium of the meats. The shocker I got was at Applebee's last night. I order the chipotle lime chicken. I didn't eat the black bean and corn cole slaw (which they don't seperate out on the website). I DID eat the rice. On the menu it…
  • Ok, I am TIRED! My back hurts, and I am too weak to push my 40 lb 3 yo son off of me. Zumba was GOOD tonight! It felt GREAT to sweat my frustration out. I had a pretty yucky day at work today. I left school, bundled my kids up, and sent them out to play in the snow. I SERIOUSLY considred not going to Zumba. I had a bad…
  • Water is a great start. Add to that potassium and you'll be set! I don't all the science, by the potassium bonds with the excess sodium and makes it easier to be flushed. At least that's how I understood the bio teacher's explanation. Potassium is found in whole foods (fruits, veggies, etc.). The LESS processing the food…
