You got a drink named Steve?

Sigh. Here's a pretty thorough debunking by David Hattan, Ph. D, Acting Director of the Division of Health Effects Evaluation in the United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/aspartame.asp

Um, I would like to point out that *technically* we are all squatting *100%* of our bodyweight before we even add that empty bar. Just in case this helps any other newbs feel a little better, too. :)

It's the beverage that killed MFP. Do not take this beverage lightly.

I'm gonna go with: • A homemade roasted chicken thigh, with bone and skin: 153 cals • A big-*kitten* baby arugula salad, with a whole chopped up apple, w/oil (1 tbsp) and vinegar: 170 cals 323 cals. Under budget and full-blown paleo to boot. Delicious and satisfying. I pretty much live on this meal.

I am eating 1200 as a target, but sometimes go to 1500. Good macros, high protein. And I am walking ~10 miles a day, although sometimes I fall off of that when I have a big project due. I know people will say I should be eating more (5'6", male, 183lbs) but I tried to eat what the charts say is my BMR; tried eating back…

Holy Toledo. If you had not posted all of the interim photos that absolutely track your path and in which you are recognizable from photo to photo, I would have said this can't be real. That's amazing. And even better, if you can do what you did, then I can do what I need to do. Thanks for the inspire.

Hey Molly- I was Obese a few months ago, and and happily merely overweight now. And I did it by eating smart (eating nutritious, weighing food, and keeping my calories in check) and by doing what you are already doing—walking. I walk a lot. It is something I can do every day w/o getting bored, and I track with my FitBit.…

Okay, maybe I can help. In addition to the "non-tangibles" listed at length above, maybe upgrade his drink for Valentine's Day. Rather than a blended whiskey, a nice-but-not-extravagant single-malt might be nice. I'll suggest a 12-yr-old Highland Park, which is very accessible both to wallet (~$45) and to the palette. It…

Fine. (AKA, the F-word.) :)

@Nessa- Thank you! I find my symptoms track pretty closely with my weight and my eating habits. As I lose weight and eat clean, things are getting much better. Who knows, I may well have been allergic to one or more of the bad foods I cut out, too!

From personal experience (and having friends who have IBS and friends who have Crohn's) I think these conditions are not black and white but exist on a continuum. I have mild IBS that can exist or not based on stress levels, caffeine and/or general diet. I had similar symptoms as you do for many years. It just became…

Wow. You went from: "She's got a great personality." to "She's a knockout." Congrats to you. You must absolutely love mirrors right now! :)

Your fiancée is a lucky man—and not just because of how awesome you look. Thanks for the inspiration.

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I'm safely down into "overweight," and looking forward to hitting the "normal" category myself. You. Look. Awesome. Congrats.

Different numbers here, but same situation. I think I was afraid to ask for help because I knew people would know enough to be disappointed in me when I failed. But now that you have momentum, you can own that. Tell people, and use their help and encouragement to get you over rough patches. Can't tell you how much help my…

You're ahead of me, but I am on almost exactly the same path. 1400 cals/day, walking 10 miles a day. Losing weight steadily, healthily, feel great, numbers are great. When I get to maintenance (another 25 lbs to go) I will have to up my cals by 1000 a day. I have retrained the way I eat and I honestly do not feel hungry.…

As for recipes, here is my go-to lunch or dinner when eating at home: 1 Homemade roasted chicken thigh, with bone and skin (I do these spiced many different ways, for variety, 'cause I eat these A LOT.) Large baby arugula salad with: • 2 cups arugula • 1 oz. chevre goat cheese • 5 walnut halves, chopped • 1 tbsp olive oil…

Not a recipe, but my very favorite 500 calorie lunch or dinner is Chipotle, configured thusly: Carnitas burrito bowl, with white rice, veggies, tomatillo, hot salsa, sour cream (I ask for a little less than normal) and lettuce. This nets in right at 500 cals and feels like you are absolutely breaking the bank on a splurge…

It's hard not having someplace to disappear to for working out. Until the snow melts, is there any way you can time-shift your workouts? I know sleep is at a premium for any mom when a baby is involved. But even as a night owl I find that a morning workout gasses my car for the whole day. Plus, no matter what you point in…

I take off for a walk. For my bodyweight, etc, a one-mile walk = 100 calories burned. But it also seems to control hunger very well, so it's kind of a two-fer. If I am still hungry after I get back (a mile is <20 mins) then I'll eat an apple or something, which is satisfying and is more than erased by the walk itself.

If that fails there is always gender reassignment surgery. You can get it cheaper in Thailand. Good luck! :)

I was gonna say print out a QR code for this thread and give it to her. Until the "penis hanging out" response. #Nevermind

"Interracial" should not merit a second thought. Much less be perceived as a barrier. But Canadian? Oh, I just don't know about that. I mean, how would I even broach the idea with my parents? And you have to, because they are gonna find out soon enough. Yeah, maybe the first aboot goes by unnoticed. But soon enough,…

They are fantastic. But they over-credit you for calories burnt. For that reason I have dropped down to eating half of my exercise calories. But the FitBit is otherwise awesome.
