I use a blender (Nutribullet) with ice and almost always add in at least part of a frozen banana. I swear it's like a milkshake and a treat to me. If I don't put in enough ice it's just a cold thick drink and not my favorite...for me it's texture and taste. I once accidentally ordered "chocolate cake batter" flavor v.…

I am up between 4:40 and 5:10 depending on my first meeting at work and the length of the work-out. I have my gym clothes laid out the night before and have a some caffeine and half a protein shake with creatine & 25g of banana mixed in before I head out to the "Y" to lift and do little HIIT. It does mean I fall asleep on…

Received one for Christmas and have used it every day since. I really like it since I no longer have to worry if my running shorts can hold my phone and when I lift it keeps it out of the way (vs. front or back pockets) . No issue when I run staying in place. It holds a ton, although since I’m just running in the gym it’s…

It's great you both are working together and supporting one another in the process. Great job!

Consumer Reports has a write-up on treadmills. Last I checked they liked the Precor brand and I think that will be the replacement for my house - although last time I checked their electronics were pretty simplistic for what they cost. A base model is $2K USD. I would recommend trying a few if you can and see if you can…

Great job and thanks for sharing! The fact you are nervous about moving to maintenance is the right thinking IMHO. It means you will pay attention and know you need to hold yourself accountable to stay in your preferred zone.

There are a lot of comments on this choice in the forum. Look under the search feature using the drug’s name. Needless to say it's a hot topic (as is anything seen as a short-lived short-cut) and ultimately it comes down to learning the right behaviors during its use that you can then leverage after you are done talking…

Totally OP's choice: Hugh Jackman - bonus if you get the adamantium skeleton, claws and healing powers.

Similar to the above for me. I walk/jog for 10 minutes before I lift on Chest and Back days followed by 20-30 minutes of HIIT using a treadmill with a pattern of 2 minute jog, 1 min high intensity run 4x week. On leg day I only do the warm-up but no HIIT, and nothing (or just basic walking) on my rest day. When I was…

I guess that can go in the "and stuff" category but not sure that fits in with my fitness claim.:smokin:

From the fittest state in the Union - Colorado! ‘ cause you know we climb a lot of mountains out here -and stuff.

I'm no SS and just starting this lifting thing about 3 months ago, but like a previous poster said he probably already has muscle under the fat just because of the weight he's carrying. I can’t do a leg press with his body weight, yet he can stand-up and function (I assume anyway) so he's been "lifting" for a while, so to…

Uh oh...this is the beginning of the mass v. weight clarification. I think you mean something like "fat takes up more volume than muscle pound for pound" because 2 pounds of fat and 2 pounds of muscle weigh the same = 2 pounds. Muscle is denser so it's possible to stay the same weight (or even gain) but lose inches in some…

Best summary of key learnings on the topic I've read. Thanks!

My 79 year old father turned me on to it and swears by it. I take now as well (with MSM whatever that is) since I was having a little knee pain from running. I don't have the pain, but I don't run as much as I was so who knows but I'll keep taking it until some study shows otherwise or offers something better.

My wife and kids say I'm grumpier more - maybe it was the "hangry period" when I was trying to lose weight. I would always say back "oh you liked me fat, 'cause fat men are jolly." Now that I've been at target for a year I hope I'm normalizing to a "happier" place. Like others have said I do look at myself in the mirror…

Fall is my favorite time of year to run - at least until ice starts to develop. The temperatures can be in the 20's and I can gear-up and enjoy myself but once it gets below that or there's ice I go inside for the winter and use the treadmill time to catch-up on all the TV I've wanted to see.

We buy the full-sized combinations from Costco - because I always thought it was cool to receive the full-sized candy bars when I was a kid. We don't have a lot of kids come by in our little "side" neighborhood - too many open lots in our development - so it's not a huge expense (v. the person with 700!). We buy the…

I find I am cold a lot more now as well after losing 50 pounds and getting to my goal weight. I have been in maintenance for just about a year. I wore a sweater inside this summer because of the office air conditioning. Not afraid of red meat, but I will look into the iron thing at my next check-up. As others have said be…

Yes, because it's one of the places the kids like to eat and it's actually pretty easy to design a meal under 500 calories.

I started doing this about 6 months ago after reading a book on running. Essentially the idea is to warm-up through walking first for 5-10 minutes (I almost always do 10 because I start getting so board I am excited to start my run) and 5-10 minutes of walking at the end - together they add about a mile to my total and the…

The better question may be what are you running from? All kidding aside I usually run with fast paced classic rock and whatever music my kids have introduced me to which has a powerful beat. Heck I even have a song my 12 year old likes based on his Minecraft game. I am also experimenting with running without any music but…

We buy the 0% Chobani in the large tub with vanilla (v. plain). I eat it as part of my breakfast almost every morning because it's such a great source of protein and you can add carbs (fresh fruit/granola) or fats (like plain almonds) if you need the macros or want to change-up the texture or taste. We were buying the…

I had it done 3&1/2 years ago. 20/15 (at first) in both eyes but now I track closer to 20/20. At first I was "mad" about losing my ability to read small print - although at 47 the doctor said that was coming with age anyway. Much of my near vision came back and I didn't need them to read most things - like the newspaper.…

Get yourself a good pair of shoes. If you can afford it visit a running store and they will help fit you in a pair of good shoes based on your planned activity. Whether you go to a running store or Walmart just find a pair you feel comfortable in and probably a little larger than normal since once you start to run you want…

Is anyone else seeing Jimmy John's advertisements when they view this thread? Too fun. ::whispers:: They are watching me. What should I do?

My wife and I didn't live together before we were married and obviously had separate accounts and such. Once we were married we just pooled the money into one account and she started to manage it. At that time I made just a little more than she did, not that it would have mattered to us (maybe if she made multiples of my…

Hi Mutant! I'm glad to hear you are doing well after your experiment and that sandwiches are A-OK now. This is great news! However your key board may be broken since your last sentence seems to be a random collection of letters. I'm sure it's just a coincidence they reference an ancient evil which intends to enslave…

I felt the same way. There were other goals along my path, but this was my biggest. I know it's just a number and it doesn't work for some body types, but it felt great to finally be in the "normal" weight class - even if it was just by a 10th of a point!

This just got real. It was all fun-and-games until I saw the above. Obviously I was just joking around in my previous posts, right? I, for one, welcome our new Big Sandwich overlords! I hear they mostly come out at night, mostly...
