Find TDEE, eat at 500 less than it. Weigh your food, macros are whatever, get like 90g protein or something.

I have made my step goal scratching. Truly a great feeling.

LOL O L @ninerbuff see it's true, man.
-
how much do you weigh and what's your pin?
-
ahhhh I'd ask your doctor, I don't know about that. Check form, but you may be on to something with your overcompensation thought.

I don't know that I'd ever jump to buy knee sleeves. It's likely a form issue if you never had knee issues otherwise. I'm not super strong right now but I've never felt pain in my knees with 300+ on the bar. I don't think sleeves would hurt, but I think they wouldn't be addressing the real issue with your squats.

I work or workout.

As someone who played/plays a lot of video games, my recommendation is to redirect some of the obsession into fitness. It makes life easier.

Is it animal cruelty to beat the horse if it's been dead for a while now?

t25 wasn't as engaging after insanity. T25 gives you the modifiers, doesn't do stretching or much warmup, and generally wasn't enough for my wife and I after finishing insanity right before.

what if I am really good at portioning my food and don't need to weigh my food? surely I'm a not losing for another reason?
-
I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Am I weird for wanting to try this ever since I first read about it? Granted bathroom time with kids is sacred bliss so I'd sacrifice my bowels for more of it.

Well, I can't speak to keto or bad back, those two are rough. I have done SS on a cut and while running 3.5 miles on two off days and still progressed - it wasn't as easy as on a bulk with no cardio. I have two kids as well and the sleep part sucks - if you're only doing SS twice a week I'd do it on days you sleep better…

yes
-
To expand, you're not doing starting strength. You're not doing much of anything with 3x5 twice a week at a lower % of your body weight. What were your lifts pre reset?

rip is crying somewhere.

Preserving lean mass went out the window at 1200 calories. I'm not going to argue with you about the body composition/amount of lean mass of a former runner who does frequent cardio and is technically overweight and in a bracket already prone to lower lean mass.

You are reading way too much into it. Fat is not bad, I was simply referring to the fact that the OP is not at critical levels of body fat and not at any real risk of malnutrition for not logging extra activity. I find it strange how those on a fitness forum react to referring to one's fat as a source of extra energy,…

Both - I started getting knee issues myself not long ago. I've always squatted and like to run but have struggled with deadlifts, so my quads are strong but my hamstrings need work. I noticed as soon as I incorporated Romanian deadlifts in to target my hamstrings I was feeling relief. If your quads are much stronger than…

Rocky Road was good.

Have you ever explored your hamstrings?

....how often do you have gravy?

It has been, actually.

eating less food is effective and cheap.

delay your goals by two weeks

Yes you are special.

I just find that logging any incidental "exercise" is counter intuitive to losing weight and a healthy lifestyle. It seems people are more likely to log accidental exercises but not accidental bites. Extra fat comment was not a cheap shot, simply a statement based off the OP's stats and deficit.
