It's just another green! I keep a variety of frozen greens (collards, turnip greens, kale, spinach, whatever) because I'm too lazy to clean and prep fresh. The main thing with cooking fresh greens is to gauge the texture. Tougher greens require a longer cooking time. Otherwise, sautee some sliced garlic in olive oil until…

Try So Delicious (if you like coconut). It's wonderful and dairy free! I love the fudge bars :)

Perfect! I was going with "There and back again", but this will be my new favorite.

Oooh! If you like the yogurt plus peanut butter, try plain Fage plus Nutella p:
-
Love Fage 2% plain plus frozen cherries or blueberries that I have thawed in the microwave! Stir in some cinnamon and top with crunchy nuts and yum! Don't like non-fat yogurts, though. They are too thick. Plus you need a little fat anyway.

I live in NC too and shop at Fresh Market, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. Fresh Market is really more of an upscale gourmet grocery. They do have some organic produce and a few packaged items, but it's really not the place to go for organics.

Don't forget that, at about the time we're going through menopause, we've also been losing muscle mass. That means we burn fewer calories naturally than we did when we were younger. Your exercise needs to include strength training. I do a daily morning routine rotating between upper body, lower body and core so it doesn't…

OK, that too. I use mine every single day!

Agreed. Mine's a KitchenAid. Makes soups, sauces, smoothies sooooo much easier than using a blender.

My daughter started this after watching some documentaries and she is getting her protein from seafood, dairy, eggs and beans. She is in college, so the cost is not an issue (she's on a meal plan). You can also get a lot of protein from grains, quinoa in particular. Just remember to rinse it well before cooking. Combine…

I love the aeropress too! You make it as strong as you like with whatever coffee you like. You can also make more than one cup with it. It's totally dishwasher safe and it's portable. I take mine on vacation. Oh, and you can get a year's worth of filters on amazon for $3-$4. I've had mine for years, but I think it's…

You know, the way you describe it sounds more like a social eating problem than an emotional one. Or maybe a little bit of both. Are you starving when you go into the dining hall? It's next to impossible to make good choices when you are really hungry, especially when the people around you are indulging.

How about sushi?

Don't forget a variety of canned beans. They're a quick source of fiber and protein and you don't even have to cook them! Just rinse in a colander to get rid of all the salty liquid and add to salads, soups, pasta and grain dishes. I buy pintos, navy beans, blackeyed peas, kidney beans, cannelini, black beans and…

Maybe you need to try a better tuna? If you have to mask it to eat it, it isn't worth it. Cooks Illustrated recommends Wild Planet White Albacore, which I happened to have tried today on a salad with dijon vinaigrette. It was quite good on it's own (I tasted it plain first) and the texture reminds me of a home cooked tuna…

Like you, I mostly use olive oil (light for cooking, extra virgin when I want the flavor). I also use canola oil for high heat and when I want a completely neutral flavor. And I keep nut oils in the fridge to add sparingly to salad dressings and stir fries, not because they're bad for you, but because they are strong. Oh,…
