I've had so many surgeries, having the sleeve done wasn't a big deal to me. But I can understand your worry. Let me say, no, you are not insane. In fact, you have made an itelligent decision to get the help your need (WLS) to become healthy again. Will it be worth it? Absolutely! Without a doubt, this is the best thing I…

I got married the day after I turned 18 and weighed 160 pounds. I was chunky, 20 pounds overweight at that point. Four kids and 36 years later, at 386 pounds, I had weight loss surgery. I now weigh 222 and am working my way back to that 160 (which oddly enough is now my ideal weight for age, height, etc.). In all that time…

I actually swish the Coconut oil around in my mouth for about 20 minutes most days. It helps with a lot of different things like dry mouth (check the web, lots of lists). Anyway I usually just swallow that. It's really tasteless.

Vacation for me always means more walking and such, so any extra calories get burned off quickly. I don't necessarily follow my plan as carefully while on vacation, but I do log. Mainly just to keep my mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth.

This is so true! Yes, every change you make prior to surgery will make the post-op lifestyle changes easier, but following the pre-op plan to the "t" or not doesn't affect your success rate. I didn't have the same pre-op program you did. I had 2 weeks of a pre-op plan with the last 3-4 days liquid only. You will most…

I had had so many surgeries prior to this one, that it really didn't bother me at all. I was more concerned with not failing at this like I had failed at every other weight loss program. But, truth is aniety about surgery is normal. You might be able to ease your mind a bit by concentrating on what comes after the surgery…

Might I suggest a regular addition of Coconut Oil? This will help with the dryness as well as make you more regular. My mother used to dose us with Cod Liver Oil growing up, but that is gross tasting! Coconut oil really has no flavor. I don't need it often, but it does work.

In the beginning I used Mirilax per my doctor. Than after I was on regular food I found Triscut or Wheat Thin crackers about once a week. One serving fits in my calories and they have lots of fiber. Or if I need the extra protein, Quest bars also have a lot of fiber. I also have a salad for lunch most work days and that…

I have often times stuck my foot in my mouth so totally get it! You didn't mean anything bad by that so don't worry too much about what they might have thought.

Praying you get the job closer to home. And kudos to you for taking the stance you are! You're so right, we don't go through all this just to let life or work be the reason we regain.

We all self sabatoge at some point. Like Thaeda said, the kicking doesn't help. No guilt. You know what to do, how to use the tool. Get back to logging, hitting the protein and water goals, you will start to feel better and then you can add back in the exercise. You can do this.

So sorry you are feeling judged. Rob's right, most of it comes now from folks having a hard time accepting the change. I get it too as my upper body as gotten much smaller than anyone at work every saw me before (and I've been here 20 years!). But I'm still carrying a lot on the bottom and am not to goal. But I still get…

That's a great attitude!!

Awesome NSV!!! Praying that all goes well and this new one lasts much, much longer!

seaghdha, you are doing awesome! I can't make my surgeon's support groups work with my work schedule either, so I totally agree with your thought on this group of folks here!

Inspiring!!!! You make me believe I can get to where I want to be.

Wow Jan! That's a very visable difference!

And Randy's right too, but if you can't kill her with kindness, what jmfullerton said is what I would do. One of my best friend's daughter just had the sleeve. She's 30 and only needs to lose a little over 100 pounds. I had to lose 220 when I started. Doesn't make her surgery any less necessary than mine. Judgmental people…

Weight loss comes from burning more calories than you are eating in a day. Hard to do without exercise. Plus muscle burns more calories than fat, so you exercise, increasing muscle and reducing fat to help your body burn calories more effectively. Guess my point is that exercise is essential for health, weight loss and…

I am in my late 50's and am 5'7". Normal range for me is about 145. My surgeon told me my "ideal" weight for age, bone structure and height is 160. On the BMI scale that's still in the overweight category. But again, per my surgeon my goal is 160. However, he told me he expected that I would get to 200, bounce up to 220…

My lowest weight was 222 and I got sloppy over the holidays and gained back 10. I lost 2 and then I've been bouncing between 225 and 230. I was told I was eating too little so I upped calories twice to no avail. I have learned how to do maintainence!! But anyway, on this past Monday, I reduced my calories. Monday the scale…

My doctor said to weigh no more than once a week. Truth is though, I weigh more often when stressed about the lack of weight loss, so when I'm stalled, like now! Frankly, I was sleeved almost 4 years ago and I'm still not to goal. This has been a very slow journey for me and when I feel like I'm just so ready to give up…

You've got a lot of good answers here. To add, I started at 386 with high BP and bordering on diabetis and cholesterol issues. I have damage to my lower spine with arthritis from the lower spine down. Almost 4 years later I have lost 164 pounds, am 99% pain free (although I do have to be very careful about what I do for…

I prefer Quest bars because I've found for what I can buy locally they have better nutrition, fewer calories and more protein. Good flavor choices too. Some people don't like the consistency, but that doesn't bother me. They are very dense, so very filling. I was given a Isagenix, IsaLean Bar today, traded someone who…

I preferred non sweet ones, so did a lot of Unjury chicken and beef broth. I also used Isopure Zero flavored water. It has about 40 grams of protein per bottle, It counts for both so helped me get both water and protein in when it was hard.

My biggest one so far was walking/hiking the south rim of the Grand Canyon (the eintire rim within the national park we were in that is). I would never have been able to do that before this weight loss.

I use MFP to track my calories and water daily. When I don't, I tend to be either way over or way under calories and always way under water. The support given here is also a big help in keeping me at it as I've been sleeved almost 4 years and haven't hit goal. As I understand it, on average, we will lose about 70% of our…

Great progress!!! Congratulations.
