My metabolism has always been slow. Some people are fast, some slow, just the way it is. The more I weighed, the slower the metabolism. Of course the more I weighed, the slower I moved. A vicious cycle! I've dropped 164 pounds so far so I move faster (more mobile obviously) and I eat healthier foods (clean eating) which…

That's great! Congratulations on your success so far! You are doing awesome!!

Bethkallastrask, sizing is a joke! In highschool I weighed 160, was told I was 20 pounds over weight and wore a size 16 (1974 BTW). Today I'm about 225 and wear a size 18 X-lg? Really! I'm 65 pounds heavier and only 1 size up? So when did the clothing industry resize everything to make it appear we were smaller? And this…

I get a 1 hour lunch break and spend the first 1/2 of that walking 99 % of the time. On days like today when I came in late, so am only taking 1/2 hour, I will maybe walk tonight or work out on my pilates machine (I would walk and then eat at my desk but that's not allowed). I also try and use the stairs at work rather…

OK, Lori, I see the problem. I personally can't do food or even a shake for a few hours after I get up. It makes me nauseous, always has even before WLS. I find I can't get my calories or protein without a snack, sometime two. But if you are using the protein powder mid morning rather than in your yogurt first thing, yes…

Great success! Congratulations on what you've lost so far and I look forward to seeing the pictures when you hit your goal!

Isn't 4 hours a normal amount of time between meals or am I missing something? I would think if you wanted to go longer or needed to go longer you might want to use the protein powder for a mid morning snack instead of mixing it into the yogurt.

I have the same issue. At my biggest, my left leg was markedly bigger than my right. It still is a little but as the weight comes off, they are getting closer to the same size. Looking at your measurements, I don't see a huge difference. I bet no one notices but you.

I always was very upfront about the surgery but ALWAYS made sure to talk about following the food plan and exercising regularly. Just mentioning surgery is why some folks think this is the "easy way". It's a lot more than the surgery and we all know it.

Yeah, that head hunger will get you every time! I have to watch that boredom snacking too, having my head tell me I want to eat again. It's a tough battle and one I know I will have to battle the rest of my life.

I feel like I have 2 semi inflated water balloons, the long skinny balloons. :) But oddly enough I have gone from a C cup at my biggest to a D cup. Not sure how as I'm delating just like everyone else, but I was professionally sized and was told my C cup was too small. And I also found a great support bra a Lane Bryant.…

Many times when doing as much activity as you are, you will find you are losing inches rather than pounds. Each square inch of muscle weighs more than each square inch of fat, so as you lose fat and gain muscle the scale tends to not move. If you aren't measuring you might want to start and compare that to when you…

Let's give them something to talk about!

I make my own soups so I can increase the meat/beans (protein) and keep the fat and calories down. My nutritionist said since my soups are so high in protein and low in fat and calories and there's more food than broth it was fine. She did say that if I was eating canned or prepackaged soups, she would be telling me not…

I build a snack into my plan. I want to know that I'm not going over calories if I find the need to eat again. And if I don't want it I don't eat again unless I'm way low on protein. Then I will have a shake, some turkey, or maybe a protein bar to make sure I get the protein. I would think that as long as your snacking is…

And these are two of the reasons I prefer Quest bars. 20 grams of protein per bar and depending on the flavor I can stay about 170 calories and no sugar or sugar type bathroom problems, but they do have 7 grams of fiber so they help with regularity.

It's been awhile since you posted this, I hope you are doing better, that the natural healing process has settled the problems down. It can be tough at first and some people have it worse than others. Please post again and let us know how you are doing. Praying for you.

I have arthritis and joint damage from my lower back down. All those years at 380+ pounds. I walk regularly and use my pilates machine. Frankly, I could use the pilates machine much more than I do. Anyway, I am almost 4 years out from surgery. And still, what I do more than anything for exercise is walk. I've tried other…

150 pounds off is awesome!! I also regained a little through the holidays, and just like you don't want to be one of those who loses it just to gain again. I'm right there with you kiddo. Good luck!

You are doing great!!

I am almost 4 years out and not to goal. Am I frustrated that my weight loss has pretty much stopped? Yes. Am I frustrated at how easy it was to pop up 10 pounds through the holidays and how hard it is to get that back off? Yes. Do I sometimes get sick of counting protein and calories and trying to make sure and get all my…

I was like that at the hospital until they took out the morphine drip. Once that was out, no more falling asleep everytime I sat down. Hang in there kiddo, it gets better and easier as you continue to heal.

If the child is eligible for the breakfast and lunch program at your school, make sure she's signed up for it and then get her into the lunch room and a healthy breakfast. Otherwise, I don't see where there's much you can do unless she's severly obese. Unfortunately there are parents out there who think that's an…

Oooo! Must try this one. Wasn't real impresses with the Smores flavor, tasted more chocolate than anything else.

I think most people feel that way pre-surgery, like if I can lose 20 pounds in 4 weeks pre-surpgery, why can't I lose the other (in my case) 368? Well maybe because history shows I can't? If I had kept off everything I've lost through the years I would fit on a charm braclett! Truth is, if we could have, we would have. For…

This is what I call head hunger. You are not physically hungry, just want to eat. ac7nj is right, it's probably the thought of never being able to eat those foods again. Truth is, you can eat those foods again, much smaller protions, but once we totally heal, we can eat what we want. Some people can eat all things in…

Great pictures and you are doing fantastic!

Thaeda makes several good points. If I look at my food log I see loss when the protein and water are high and everything else is low. So protein first always, get all your water and if you must have something sweet, try a flavored water. A little sweet but still counts as water.
