Hi all. I'm on the 4th workout (B, workout 2). Here's what I did today: Deadlift - 2 sets of 15 reps @ 30 lbs -- I think I might take the plunge and move to the 45lb Olympic bar. There is something about these that intimidate me. I know I can lift the weight, but that dang bar is so long and unwieldy. I used the 5' bar…

For all those confused about the workouts (a, b, 1, 2, etc.), there are 16 total workouts in stage 1. Each workout has 5 exercises. So it takes me 25-30 minutes to complete each time (plus 15 min warmiup on elliptical). Sample Week doing MWF Monday - Workout A, Workout 1 Wednesday - Workout B, Workout 1 Friday - Workout A,…

Hi all! Today was my 4th workout in stage 1. I feel good and I feel stronger and I'm not AS intimidated by the weight room like I had been(still a little). I'm still not sure I'm doing deadlifts right. I have watched videos on youtube, but I still feel awkward doing them. I did read someone earlier post about feeling it in…

I can't believe I just found this group. Yay! I completed my 4th workout today. I'm doing the program 3 days/week, MWF. So today was "B2." I just realized last night exactly how to alternate the workouts. I started lowing the reps last Friday, just totally not "getting it." I think the author should number the Stage 1…

Hi all. Just found this group and I'm excited to be here (there's another group with the same name but fewer members..?). I just completed stage 1, workout B2 (so my 4th actual workout). I'm so excited to see the transformation weight lifting will bring. I've never seriously done it before. I'm 41, married, with a soon to…

Hi! I just joined this group. Have been on MFP for 2 months and just completed my 4th workout (Stage 1, B2) today. I'm loving it. I feel stronger! Looking forward to meeting everyone and comparing notes!

I think you should try talking to your dad about being healthy (how it can benefit the whole family) and how you help him SAVE money. You mentioned he buys fried chicken? Why not buy the whole chicken, cut it up, and then fry it? Does he actually buy it FRIED? That seems way more expensive than buying a whole chicken or…

I am no expert, but I used to run back in the day. I would suggest interval training and adding a long run once a week. For intervals, you can do 2 minutes of walking or slow jogging and then 1 minute of running very fast (not an all out sprint, which will be hard to do for one minute). Do that for 15-20 minutes. Oryou can…

Congrats on your success. You look great and sound happy. This is just what I needed to put the cookie down. I started snacking (mindlessly) and stopped. THANK YOU! Being on the cusp of 42, a working, mom, caregiver of all, etc. I can totally relate to where you are (were). Funny enough, I decided 2012 was the year of ME…

Today is a non-exercise day for me too and I'm feeling RAVENOUS. Over the last 2 months I've been on MFP, I only remember this happening one other time. I am drinking water, but I'm also just eating a little more to satiate myself. Besides, if I ever feel like I'm depriving myself, I will not stick with this lifestyle…

Congrats on your journey and the amazing weight loss. You are a very strong person and should be proud of yourself. I am an emotional eater as well. I (used to) eat when I was happy/sad/mad/you name it. This year I decided to work on me. I started with the mental/emotional health and halfway into it, I suddenly out of…

You look great! Thanks for sharing your story and a huge congrats to you!!

I'm starting NROLFW tomorrow. I'm so excited based on everything I'm reading. I'm committing to 3X/week as they suggest. OP: Congrats! You look great and this is very inspiring.

I just made these and they came out flat, but they tasted pretty good. If you can pour the batter into a "form" -- e.g., a large cookie cutter -- they get much fluffier instead of just running across the griddle when you pour them. Also I may have followed the recipe wrong: I used 6 tbs egg whites. I wasn't sure if the…

I agree with everyone else: you look amazing and are very inspiring! Congrats on your weight loss. Go on girl!!! And we are all still waiting to hear your "secrets" -- talk to us about calories, excercise, etc. please!

Wow. Just curious: did you account for the measuring cup? My one cup meausure weighs 35 grams by itself (i.e., empty).

I used to say this too (up to about 2 months ago). It's hard if you're a working mom, taking care of a family (including husband). I even have the luxury of working from home most days and still was saying "I don't have time to work out." But once I got in serious healthy/I'm-going-to-do-this mode, I found plenty of time.…

I just purchased The New Rules of Lifting for Women and they recommend full body workouts, 3X/week. I'm a beginner, so that's what I plan to do (starting on Monday - woohoo). I also like the idea of killing two birds...

sounds delish. You should add this to the recipe database.

I know what you mean about protein! I just realized I am not getting nearly enough, especially because I just changed my macros to: 40/30/30. Then I remembered that a couple months ago I bought a ginormous container of whey protein from Target (vanilla flavored -- 25g of protein/scoop; I never use it! So I just enjoyed a…

That's it exactly. Increase your intensity or duration of workout. Maybe try some intervals.

As a fellow shorty, I can definitely relate. However, I don't think of myself as short. I feel tall and I think (hope?) I carry myself "taller." But I am short and have always looked younger than my age, and I swear, I get no respect sometimes!! Very hard in corporate America sometimes... I was actually so excited to get…

You look a lot younger, wow! Congrats on making it this far!

I get the majority of my groceries there. Fav snacks are Veggie Stix and the Nutty Chocolate Drizzled granola bars.

As a fellow 5'2" female, all I can say is WOW - you look amazing. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm just getting started on my journey. Like you, I have yo yo'd doing Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers. I have the added age factor now (over 40). But your success is great motivation. Thanks and congrats!!!

OK, this is making me feel old because it's like we're comparing our pills --- which I guess we are. I just recently started supplementing my diet with calcium, iron, and B12. I only take enough calcium and iron to make up for what I didn't get that day with my food. I should probably do more...

yuuuuuuuuum! Thank you!

I agree with eating something healthy after your workout and upping your breakfast calories a bit. I have to have a filling breakfast; otherwise I feel hungry all day.

Top chicken breast with 1/4-1/2 cup salsa. Bake in preheated oven at 350 for 30 min. I top with shredded cheese for the last 10 min. Serve with tortillas chips, beans, etc. Easy and yummy.

My husband does not believe those pictures are the same person!! (He really doesn't. He's never had a weight problem.) You look amazing. Congrats to you and your wife. Very inspiring!
