  • this post made me laugh! :-) my only advice is to maybe incorporate a few more rest days. Although I am probably the queen of resting too much (translation: stuck on a plateau), I always ALWAYS come back stronger. your muscles need to repair and grow.
  • Beeps you look amazing!! Thank you for sharing. I'm impressed with those guns of yours. :)
  • This sounds both disgusting and delicious.
  • 5'2" and 42 years old. Currently eating maintenance at 1800. I lost steadily eating 1550-1650, then plateaued. Took a break to do a half marathon and haven't been motivated to cut again. I love to eat and 1800 doesn't feel restrictive. 1650 did. So I'm torn right now because for me, this is about finding something I can…
  • I have the EXACT same problem. My arms are the first place to get fat and the last place to lose it. I'm very self conscious about them -- well used to be. Since joining mfp and finally starting a heavy weight training program, my arms actually have some definition! There is still plenty of fat though, and I know I need to…
in Arm fat!! Comment by kmsairam June 2013
  • I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.
  • Cheesecake factory. I exercised and planned on having a slice of cheesecake. I only ate half, thinking I'd probably had about 400 cals. Think again! When I looked it up afterward, I ordered the one cheesecake that was 1600 calories. Not my finest moment.
  • I am a huge advocate of taking a week off - well 4 to 5 days. Your muscles grow and repair themselves. And I always come back stronger. I absolutely loved the program too, but I feel rest is so important.
  • Congrats for taking the plunge Chelsea! And your squats are great! I did the whole program and am only up to 85 with my squats. I blame it on a bum knee. I think you will love the program and each day will get easier at the gym. Then one day you'll look up and it'll be no big deal to be in there pumping iron with the guys.
  • Keep up the great work! I was pumped up with early Stage 1 results too. It totally got me hooked on lifting.
  • Good job Manic!
  • *And we can = maybe we can
  • Manic - at least you recognize what you're doing. I would say have fruit or veggies first. and drink a tall glass of water. I was going to suggest having a very small piece of a goody, but if you feel you will not be able to stop, then did not do that. how many calories do you have left for the day? And we can come up with…
  • Hey all. I didn't get my run in today, but will do so tomorrow morning. Last one before the race Sunday (Jane - it's a 1/2 marathon). In h.s., I was on the track and tennis teams. College was tennis team and a feeble attempt at lacrosse. I always wanted to be a swimmer though. So Sue: you continue to be my hero. Have fun…
  • Hi guys. I've been reading and not able to keep up with daily checking/chats. After my PR deadlift last week, at first I thought it was just DOMS, then 2 days later realized it was my groin hurting. I ended up not doing my LAST long run before the race in an attempt to heal up. I also has a shin splint for two days. It all…
  • Emgel - if you complete Stage 5, you might as well finish New Rules. Come on woman - you're close to the end!! Stages 6 and 7 are very short.
  • Are Pendlay rows the kind using dumbbells? I like that New Rules lets you do both throughout hte program. I actually really like the barbell row. I can lift way more too. Mary - have fun on those hills today. Sam - congrats on another pant size and the compliments! Running on Charlotte's beautiful greenways today. Then…
  • I'm with Mary on this one: DEADLIFTS BABY! I feel quite bada$$ when I do them. Today was a rest day, but I eeked out a 2.5 mile run yesterday (day after my long run even!) and even some walking last night. Tomorrow is lifting and my HIIT. Love me some HIIT. LB - Congrats on finishing! That sounds like a great time to me.…
  • I'm 5'2" as well and I use the weight bench. I would like to try a barbell but I'm nervous about losing my balance (do you balance it on your back??). I use 25 lb DBs. I have to focus on not using my trailing leg and on keeping my balance -- I have to stare at a single point (usually myself in the mirror) without wavering.…
  • 5'2", 162, size 8-10. I am top heavy.
  • QOTD: Italy with my BFF. Mad at hubby right now...
  • Wow, it was a busy weekend up in here. Mine was busy with family activities. I got my long run in too (11 miles) and was very happy. It felt great - no breathing or leg programs. Just took it slow and easy. I feel pretty prepared for the half marathon. lcu - I just don't love running enough to start a program. That's the…
  • Last book I read was Cloud Atlas. Saw the movie and hoped the book would be better (it wasn't). Really needed to run 4 miles today, but it's cold and rainy and I'm not the type that can run in the cold and rain (just ain't happenin'). I could go to the gym, I suppose, but I just want to curl up by the fireplace and stay…
  • I watch too much tv. I am a sucker for all of the Real Housewives aka trash tv, but am currently obsessed with Downton Abbey. Watched two seasons thru Netflix and now I'm jonesing for season 3. I made up my own lifting routine at the gym today. Even did some prone jackknives! NSV: they didn't hurt!! Also did some HIIT. I'm…
  • Hi Ladies! Got in a run this morning. It was tough, but I did it. For some reason, I'm having trouble running these days. Legs are tired and heavy... Sue - OMG. I cannot believe you mentioned IRC. I think you're the only person I know outside of my college friends that ever used it. It was totally pre-AOL-chatroom and I…
  • lcu - you forgot an option "d" = breaking into the stash early, which I did today. :blushing: (just 2 small resees cups!!) This weekend, I will aim for "b". HOWEVER... :) That is my long run day, so I might indulge because I'll have calories to spare. Beeps - your daughter will have some great memories. I'm glad she did…
  • Beeps that's SO cool about being able to workout with your daughter!! I'm dating myself, but I remember going to aerobics class back in the early 80s with my mom when I was 11. We would wear matching tights and leotards and the instructor looked like Olivia Newton John from the Let's Get Physical video. I kid you not! Hey…
  • My answer to this is: YES :)
  • I'M DONE WITH NEW RULES Y'ALL! :) Had to do my final lifting session at the gym near my job because I overslept this morning. I must say it was kind of anticlimactic because I was out of my usual element, wasn't sure where the equipment was, etc. But I did it! AND I did 135 for my deadlift finally! I just went for it! :) I…
  • Excellent results! Congrats!!
