  • You look like a model (!) and congrats on your weight loss!! Here's bad: weighing more than your husband when your husband is 6'5" and weighs 195 and you're 5'2" and weigh, well... more than that. :) So I can totally relate to being happy about weighing less than your husband! LOL
  • I cannot bring myself to do three sets of planks, let alone 4. Today I did two sets of planks, 2 sets of BWM and 3 sets of everything else. One day I'll do the 4 sets. I just never have time! Where is everyone? I want to share my misery. I wish I liked this stage, but I just don't.
  • First of all, the real name for these exercises is "prone jackknives from hell." Just so you know. :) I felt the same way as you when I started. And just like everyone else says, just keep at it. They WILL get easier. I don't think any extra exercises are necessary. Just following the program makes you get stronger day by…
  • Thanks Sue and CowGirl - Baby girl is all better. Thank God she can go back to school tomorrow, cuz Mommy was about to lose her mind. I have not been in the zone with my eating and exercising. This week was a wash with running. At least I got to the gym twice last week to lift. I have been so tired from doing the mom and…
  • LOLOL!! Me too! I feel ridiculous. Plus I can do one side no problem, but the other side feels really awkward. I'm really interested in this BodyMedia thing. You're the second person to mention how many more calories you are burning than what you expected.
  • Hi! Just checking in real quick. I'm on day 3 at home with a sick child. I didn't work out yesterday, but managed to get to the gym the day before. I REALLY need to do something today... gotta get motivated and hope that my mom can watch the kiddo for a couple of hours. Welcome Leanne! So are you going to look for a new…
  • Sometimes your body is telling you something -- like maybe you're not getting enough calories. I used to be an ovo-lacto vegetarian (many years) and I went on weight watchers and felt hungry all the time. Looking back, I realized I was exercising a lot and was most likly not eating enough. I'm no longer a vegetarian and I…
  • I'm not sure I'm getting a runners high, but usually after 2-3 miles, I feel in a groove, where the running feels easy. For some reason, running is still a bit of a chore for me up until that point. Aside from my old knees hurting after every run, I usually feel pretty great afterwards. It's just the getting start part…
  • Holy DOMS. I'm sore even after my lame Stage 5 workout. I guess upping my weights in a few areas helped. But really, I didn't stretch enough afterwards. My hamstrings are killing me. Thank you body weight matrix! Colleen - I'm also 42 and typically as you get older, you don't need as many calories. But sounds like with…
  • Don't leave!!! lol I'm just starting. I have my 2nd Stage 5B workout tomorrow. I forgot how much I DISLIKED Stage 3 exercises -- seriously my least favorite stage. So I zoomed through the rest periods (60-75 between sets) and felt like I did a rather lame workout, despite sweating buckets. Well guess who has DOMS today???…
  • I would cry if I had to do 1200, but YOU know your body and what works. I'm 5'2" and I cannot subsist on 1200 or even 1300. I think I have a medium frame. (I can wrap my fingers around my wrist and they just meet.) I did Weight Watchers many years ago and it took me 2 years to lose 50 lbs. I am pretty sure I was eating…
  • Good question. I posed a similar question to the larger MFP community but didn't get much feedback. So I'm kind of playing it by ear right now. I changed my lifting routine to 2 days/week and have been running 3 days/week. I can't seems to fall into a good routine though. My exercise scheule changes each week. I think it's…
  • In the beginning I did the program 3 days/week with hardly any cardio. Some days I would walk or play tennis, but nothing regular. I had been a cardio queen in the (much distant) past, but always felt that it was like torture, so I totally welcomed the change of pace. However, I got roped into doing a 1/2 marathon, so in…
  • Hi and congrats on starting Stage 1! You're gonna love it! I just select the Cardio option and then choose Strength Training for however long I was there (Stage 1 took me 34-40 minutes typically). It's kind of generic, but I was OK with that. In the beginning, I also entered in every exercise under the Strength Training…
  • Hey April! I have been trying to do the 14/10 method. I will admit, I'm just loosely doing the IF though... OK, I just went to the scooby calorie calculator and it says to lose at at 15% calorie reduction I should eat: - 1700 calories if lightly active - 1490 if sedentary This is where I get confused. When I started MFP, I…
  • Good morning! I start Stage 5 today. I kinda wish I had gotten up early to do it because now I'm not sure WHEN I'll be able to. I work at home most days, but have lots of lovely (read: annoying, useless) conference calls that I need to attend. I will try to find a way to sneak out at some point today... Manic - hope your…
  • Beeps - I hope you're feeling better. Your dinner party sounded like it would have been lovely had you not been so sick!! :( Points-wise, I'm giving last week's point to ME. Although technically I did not run on Sunday, I ran the very next day to make it up. I think I'm missing a week for you and that missing week was a…
  • Hey Ladies! Starting stage 5 on Monday. That's all. Happy New Year!
  • Hi all! I just got back from a short cardio session at the gym and feel pretty good. If I can do my long run tomorrow, I'll get my challenge point. Fingers crossed. I have been so focused on running that I'm letting my lifting just happen when it happens. I need to complete one more workout for Stage 4 and then it's on to…
  • I think you'd be fine. Did you take off between Stages 1 and 2? I know many people don't take much (if any) time. I think taking time off is really helpful and you usually come back stronger. So I don't think a week (even 2) will hurt.
  • Welp, point goes to NEW this week. I did my long run today, but not enough running during the week. That's OK though...happy to have at least completed the long run. Debating on doing Stage 4A tomorrow. I have two more workouts, then on to Stage 5!
  • Jennie - I forgot to comment on your weight loss (congrats!) despite being in a funk. I totally agree with what everyone is saying. Take a break. I'm impressed you actually did the elliptical for an hour. But don't stress if you don't get a workout in. I think that's the tough part -- stressing and feeling guilty when we…
  • I just threw up a little in my mouth.
  • LMAO My husband asked me to add, "Turkey-anything" other than just plain turkey. Examples: turkey bacon, turkey pastrami, turkey burger, turkey sausage...
  • Cowgirl - YES I made it to the gym. Barely. The alarm went off at 5:30 and I almost rolled over thinking I'd go later in the day. Then I remembered I couldn't go later in the day due to appointments. So I dragged myself outta bed. Dragged at the gym. Only did 2 sets. Only ran a mile after. But I went and I burned some…
  • Hahaha! I didn't eat well today. A guy at work bought in these pretzel thingys with a rolo melted in between. So simple and yet so delicious. I couldn't stop eating them. I might have had 7... Setting my alarm for 530 to get to the gym. I'm going to do a 2-set Stage 4A workout and hopefully get a 30 min run in there too.…
  • Wow, amazing transformation and very inspiring. Congrats to you!
  • I like eating at night too. I have been doing intermittent fasting for the past month or so. I eat between 12pm and 10pm. Most days I am not hungry before 12 and can get by with coffee (won't lie that some days I start eating at 11 or even 10:30 especially if I stopped eating before 10pm the night before. It's worth it to…
  • Oh yeah, the challenge. This past week, the point goes to ME. I got in all my running!
  • I don't have joint problems, but my knees are really bothering me, especially after running. Getting old sucks. For whatever reason, I lost 4.5 lbs this past week. I'm stoked, but honestly, if you average it out since I started MFP, it amounts to about 1.5 lbs/week. I've had a couple of plateau weeks, so I guess it was…
