  • ^This Just recently I have discovered Torani sugar free vanilla syrup. Love, love, love it! That & unsweetened vanilla almond milk in my coffee make a great treat. They make lots of different sugar free flavors.
  • Feel free to add me. Vegetarian for almost a year. Very little chicken & fish before that. Would like to transition to vegan but having trouble giving up occasional cheese & eggs. Gotta work harder on it. I could use the support.
  • You could set up your calories according to MFP's figures & try it out for about 3 weeks to see if it works. Or you could calculate what your BMR & TDEE are to use as a guide. Whatever method you choose has to work for you. Everyone's different. What has helped me lose weight is the mfp plan. Now that I"m on maintenance I…
  • It's a toss up. Thin Mints & Trefoils. I'm salivating just writing about them. If I had them I'd finish each box in one sitting. Can't have just one cookie! My solution--I donated money for 2 boxes to the Girl Scouts that were selling them in front of the pet store.
  • LOL. I have done that also. It's true. It's a great source of amusement. When the scale doesn't move much during the day I consider that an accomplishment. If I weigh before bed & then again in the morning I find that my weight has gone down about 5 lbs. (Happy dance) I only use my Monday morning weight for logging. If it…
  • To OP: What would I do with 1 calorie? And, what's a "deficant"? Didn't you learn in school not to write run on sentences? Is this a joke? ROFL!
  • Once I was at a backyard picnic. They had those white plastic molded chairs & I sat in one. When I got up I got stuck in it & walked around with it on my butt stuck in it. Eventually, someone pried me loose. Even though now I am a size 6 I still shy away from those type of chairs.
  • I've reached my goal weight & am maintaining. If it projects that I'll gain, it's a reminder that if I don't work at it I could end up back at square one. It's a teaching tool for me. It shows me that I need to improve on my food choices.
  • You have to examine your motives for going vegan. Is it for health, to lose weight or humane reasons? Many years ago I went vegan to be healthier. I eventually gave that up. For about 20 years I was flexitarian (eat chicken & fish). Then about 2 years ago I became a "cheating" vegetarian. Every once in a while I would have…
  • Not a big milk fan. To me milk is only good for adding to coffee & the occasional bowl of cereal. IMO almond milk is healthier & can do the same for me as well as cow milk. I'm also trying to transition from vegetarian to vegan. Sometimes I drink a cup of Silk unsweetend vanilla almondmilk in the morning. Only 30 calories.…
  • I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Three years ago my husband passed away & like you I turned to food for comfort. Before MFP I lost 18 lbs of that weight. It took over 2 years for me to join mfp & lose the rest. So far I have kept off those 22 lbs for 2 months. I never want to see them again. Please feel…
  • I felt the same way about my "unfitness" & exercise. When I started on MFP last July I was only walking 20 minutes with my dog 3 times a day. I still do that but now our walks cover more ground in the 20 minutes which means we have speeded up. You could start walking at a slow pace for 3 days a week & then walk 5 days next…
  • I thought corsets went out of style along with girdles & longline bras. I'd rather exercise to tone up than wear one of those body restricting contraptions.
  • I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian. When I visited Chula Vista last month I took my brother & sister-in-law (who are definitely meat eaters) to SIPZ for dinner. They enjoyed it as much as I did. I highly recommend that restaurant in San Diego. Wish they had one here in Vancouver WA.
  • Wake up, pee, strip, put scale on a certain tile, weigh. Put scale on another certain tile & weigh to make sure it reads the same weight as other tile (always does) lol! Weigh almost every day. We all have our rituals.
  • I get the usual "You're finished aren't you? You're wasting away." "What are you, a size 0?" (Actually I'm a size 6) Also "I'm afraid to hug you because you might break." "Tell me how you lost the weight. It must be some secret formula." Me: "My secret formula is to burn more calories than I eat."
  • Growing up we didn't have soda with meals because it was too expensive. We usually had hot or iced tea. And we had to finish all the food on our plate because "there were children starving in Asia." After dinner we were allowed to have some homemade cookies. Now I only put on my plate what I know I can finish without…
  • I have a large mug of coffee with 1 tsp sugar free Intl Coffee Suisse Mocha, 1 packet Splenda & 2 oz Almond Breeze unwseetened vanilla. It makes my specxial treat for the day & only 17 calories.
  • What's a semi-vegetarian? Is it like being a little bit pregnant? You either are or you aren't. I have been lacto-ovo-vegetarian since last year. I had cut out all meats except fish & chicken occasionally. Then they went. I feel better & don't have that heavy feeling from eating meat. I still eat some dairy & eggs. It's…
  • And the difference between then and than, weigh and weight and weighed. It's amazing how many people can't spell protein (protien) even though it's one of the macros MFP has listed on the daily logging chart.
  • Something so simple as calories in vs calories out. Starvation isn't necessary. Strict dieting is not the way to go. I can allow for treats if I make room in my daily meal plans. It's lifestyle changes that matter. Logging in every day is important for me so I don't guesstimate on what I'm eating. Practicing portion…
  • At the start of every year I make a resolution to not make any resolutions. They are meaningless because I hardly ever keep them. But, I do sometimes have goals. One of my goals this year is to maintain my weight loss. Another is to transition from vegetarian to vegan. If I am not able to, it's okay. That doesn't mean that…
  • Thanks for the suggestions. I tried unsweetened vanilla almond milk in my coffee this morning. It's not as bad tasting as I thought it might be. Next to go will probably be yogurt. I have some recipes that I've been making more often with beans, lentils & buckwheat groats. Remembering back to transitioning to a vegetarian…
  • I gave up chicken & fish a few months ago (beef, seafood, etc went a long time ago). I don't miss them. Becoming an ovo-lacto-vegetarian has improved how I feel healthwise tremendously. For me that heavy feeling that goes along with eating any kind of meat has gone. I would like to be vegan but I'm finding it hard to do…
  • Yum! I am addicted. Cashews are my favorite nuts & that's why I don't have them in the house. I don't know what moderation is with them.
  • When I was getting closer to my goal I finally had to buy a new pair of jeans -- a pair that fits. Now they are too big due to the additional weight & inches I have lost. Also, a friend told me she was impressed by my weight loss. That made me feel great!
  • If a 32 oz Ribeye is only 200 calories I might start eating meat again!
  • Height: 5' 4" Weight: 121 Age: 63 Daily calorie goal (not including exercise): 1200 Average weight loss per week: was 1 lb now .5 lb Starting weight: 140 Exercise of choice: walking Goal weight: 120 -- almost there! Then on to maintenance
  • Out with the old & in with the new. It finally took having my "fat" clothes falling off my body to realize that I needed some new clothes. I gave away most of them to someone who is following me in this weight loss journey. I'm glad someone can use them because I don't want to go back to the XL's & plus sizes again. If I…
  • 19 lbs in 4-1/2 months. Only 1 more lb to go!
