You may be able to get a cost break on training if you find a small-group trainer. Make sure the trainer is adept at working with larger clients. If you go to Ideafit.com you can find personal trainers, their location and their specialties. Additionally, this site will list their qualifications which is very important!

You should be extremely proud of yourself. Congratulation on your up-coming wedding. You'll make a beautiful bride!!:drinker:

I've been using the same basic Westinghouse rice cooker for 20 years and it's still going strong. The benefit of owning one is that you can use it to cook all grains, not just rice. I use it for quinoa, rice, barley, steel cut oats, wheat berries etc. You just add the grain, the water (or broth) set it and forget it. So…

45 minutes to an hour at the gym seems perfectly adequate. How much rest time do you take between sets?

Your body gets stronger during recovery when it's rebuilding, not while you're working out. Recovery is necessary both physically and mentally. An analogy would be baking a cake. If you're always mixing the batter (working out), but never actually baking the cake (recovering), then you'll never get to the end result.

Remember, lifting weights doesn't necessarily mean that the weights you lift have to be metal objects on a metal bar. Lifting heavy can mean picking up a 40 pound toddler and carrying them through the grocery store which is the equivalent or better than a series of walking lunges. Or, if you have to bend down, holding that…

How often do you take a recovery day? Is this a fairly new thing? Have you dropped your calories significantly? Have you had a physical recently? Lots of things can cause what you're experiencing, but as a personal trainer these are the types of questions I'd be asking.

My condolences on the loss of your husband. You look amazing! Your hard work definately paid off!

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Just remember how much your dog enriched your life...and how much you enriched your dogs' life. The pain lessens in time, but I empathize with the heartache you have right now.:brokenheart:

bumpity bump...cause I have to read this whole entertaining thread after I whip up some broccoli chips for my catsup salsa.

I actually ate the same lunch for years (unless it was the weekend, or if for some reason I went out for lunch, which happened very infrequently). My weight stayed completely stable during that time too. Sweet potato (small) 3 - 5 oz. of chicken breast Fresh spinach Grated Parmesan cheese I'd throw it all in the microwave…

I've been a NASM certified personal trainer since 2001 and when I first became certified I worked out of a private gym. It was good experience in that you got all types of clients since they were assigned based on who was available vs. capability. After a year of working out of the gym I went into business for myself and…

There used to be certain items that I never dried in the dryer because I was sure they would shrink too much for me to wear them. Now EVERYTHING that's washable goes right into the dryer.

If I could afford one and had the room, I'd buy it in a second! It's an awesome piece of workout equipment.

30 years of strength training.

My profile picture...oh, and I'm 60.

I'm 5'1" and 60 years old. Right now I'm at 125lbs and 22% BF and would like to lose another 2% BF. I'm pretty muscular since I've been weight training for the last 30 years and I'm not keen on losing too much subcutaneous fat at my age. So...we'll see what weight I"ll be at when I get down to 20% bodyfat.

I don't have any reason to explain the lameness of your co-workers, but I am offering my condolences on the loss of your father. As for your co-workers, they're just being passive/aggressive bullies! Keep your chin up and know that you, at least, live by the golden rule.

Sometimes I feel Shortchanged, other times I'm the one "short changing"! (Oh...and I'm short...in stature).

I spent 5 years getting up at 3:30am to teach a 5:45am Cycle class three times a week (in addition to teaching 4 more classes nightly). When I quit those early morning classes I've never gotten up that early except for early morning clients. My workouts are daytime or evening now.

Bumpity...bump!

Love my coffee and start the day with three mugs w/skim milk. At lunchtime I switch to green tea and drink that until bedtime.

After being an instructor in gyms for 14 years I've seen the ebb and flow of new people AND the reaction of the regulars to them. Maybe because I primarily taught cycling classes where there is a finite number of bikes available it was more pronounced when the New Year brought new people in and some of the regulars would…

I've been using the TRX with clients since about 2003 and have used it with all levels of fitness. Since the TRX is a suspension trainer that uses body-weight the level of difficulty depends on the angle of your body. Go to You Tube and enter suspension or TRX training and you'll see that there are many different levels of…

Great progress! It's really great that your wife is also on board. Keep up the great work.

Im a fair-weather cyclist so I'll be using my indoor Kieser M3 and since it goes nowhere, I'll be going for time and caloric burn. I use a combination of the calories the bike computer indicates and my HRM says. Soooo...1200+ Kcals weekly.

I was just going to mention this as well. If you're jumping right into your workout, your body hasn't had time to warm-up and the warm-up is where your body actually goes through a metabolic adjustment to send more blood to the working muscles. An inadequate warm-up (about 10 minutes of low intensity movement) will make…

You should be happy, you look great! Very nice work.
