Just a quick question to ask all of you...When first Dx, I was put on Levothyoxine. When I called for a refill (didn't have enough to last till my appointment) it was filled as Synthroid. Now, I know these are basically supposed to be the same meds but I seem to be having a mild reaction to this new script (occassional…

If you are concerned about the estrogen link, limit or eliminate soy products from your diet. That being said, we can all offer what works for us and you can see if any of our successes work for you too. I agree that the key is finding a great endo. My endo is actually who put me on to MFP! I am still a work in progress &…

Margie - you look great & I am proud you are supporting a breast cancer friend!!! Slow losses get us all down but my theory is if you lose fast it tends to come back on fast. if you lose slow your body adjusts to the changes & tends to keep it off. Keep doing what you are doing and keep the goal in mind.

Congratulations! I am always so happy to hear someone say positive things about mammograms. There are those news articles that pop up occassionally about some new study that disputes the need for mammograms and to that I say @#%& !!! My mammogram saved my life too, the dr told me by the time I would have felt my tumor it…

This is the best advice I have seen in reply to your post. Happy Birthday! I do not know your age and dealing with life changes are different at different ages. Make sure you have a medical check up so there are no underlying medical issues to deal with. Then follow what was said above. Cut back, don't cut out. So many of…

hello "tooth fairy". Hope all goes well with your surgery & treatment. If you want, add me as afriend. I have gone through this journey & its good to have support!

Oange Roughy, light breaded with Panko and a little parmesan chesse & old bay. Baked and dirzzled with a little lemon. Mmmmmmm!

I just started Life of Pi. It is very good so far. If you are interested, "Cutting For Stone" is a fantastic book. Long but worth the read. Your library may even have it on CD.

I agree! We do not need to deprive ourselves of everything...if this is something you love (I do & could not give it up) there are plenty of other things you are cutting back on/cutting out. What I do now is "Moderation". I sabatoged myself too many times by forbidding myself to have something I enjoy.

Not just the scrubs...your face & neck look wonderful!!! Great job!

Hmmm...went on livestrong site. From what I read virgin coconut oil may help my pre-diabetes as well as thyroid. Going to go shopping for it & give it a try.
-
What does the coconut oil do for the thyroid? I keep hearing about it but never knew why it was a good supplement to the thyroid. Is it high calorie? Does it affect any other health issue? (I have to stay away from soy) Information appreciated!
-
Ask the dr. also how your sugar levels are. Mine were in the "pre-diabetic" range. I was put on meds for that in addition to my synthroid. The weight started to come off. My thyroid & pancreas needed to work together.
-
Unfortunately, I have to avoid soy. I am a breast cancer survivor. My tumor was estrogen receptive positive so I am supposed to avoid soy products. And I am pre-diabetic so I am trying to have all these conditions co-exist with each other & see what I need to do for the cancer/thyroid/diabetes.

Yowza, that is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep, in the butt & belly & those are the areas I always try to lose off. Good job!!! Stay with it & keep posting updates.:flowerforyou:

I was 18 & my hubby was 19  we celebrated 41 years in Oct.

Yes, I mentioned to my surgeon when I had my mammogram in Dec. (I am 12 yr. breast cancer survivor too) and he suggested I get in touch with endo that meds might need tweaking. He didn't feel I should be so cold still. I guess I will have to call & get some bloodwork done...again. I feel like I am always getting more…

DebbyLee, you are doing a fantastic job introducing this group!!! My name is Rosemarie, I was Dx with Hashimotos in Oct. of 2012 when I had the isthmus of my thyroid removed. Condensed version of my story-I wanted the whole thyroid removed due to multiple nodules. Surgeon insisted on "his way". He took only isthmus. Gained…

Yes, I agree with this. It could be your thyroid or pancreas adjusting but dr. knows best. Let us know. I quit artificial sweetners a few months ago (thyroid problems & pre-diabetic) but I have had no bad reactions. If anything I feel much better knowing they are out of my system.

When I was 18 I met my soul mate. YES 18! Cannot explain it. We met in June, got engaged in August & got married in Oct. (4 months total). Had our first baby on our 1st. anniversary (for those of you who were counting) It is 41 years later, 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren and we are still best friends. It is…

I did it years ago when they still had weigh in locations & meetings as well as selling their food. The food was so-so but I lost a lot of weight...and then within a year gained most of it back and then shortly after had to have my gall bladder out So, I personally would say do it on your own with your own food, that way…

So how is it going for you? I am so proud of you all. Going through treatment is hard but you all are taking control of your health by eating right, good job! I did not have the will power for years to get where I am now. My wishes for a happy, healthy new year to everyone here.

shrimp....ewww mushrooms...yuk

Take it one step at a time, one day at a time. Your body has been through an amazing ordeal. Getting back to feeling good takes a lot of time, its a slow process. Even though we are healed externally, it takes a lot longer to heal internally. Be proud of where you are! Have a happy, healthy New Year!!! Rosemarie

Welcome! Congrats on finishing treatment, its a long, hard road. Be patient and give yourself time to get strong again. Someone told me back when I was doing mine to give yourself minimum of a year to start feeling strong again. I am 12 years a survivor. Feel free to talk to me or ask any questions.

Had my yearly mammogram yesterday and all is good!!! No changes from last years. I am now a 12 year 3 month survivor.
