  • Giving up all alcohol again this year! Giving up something for Lent should be a sacrifice& no wine with dinner sure is. Did it last year so going to do it again.
  • Just saw my cardiologist & my cholesterol blood work was excellent this year. Taking generic Crestor but dr said also was that I am exercising 5X a week. Going to the gym & doing treadmill, recumbent bike as well as some weight training. Diet, meds & exercise go hand in hand. I also don't know what the 7 score means.
  • Good luck to you. Are you on thyroid meds? I just switched from Synthroid to Levothyroxine (the generic for synthetic) & am anxious to see if there is any difference. With new insurance there was a considerable price difference. To back up a bit, I just turned 65 & over the last 6 years have lost over 50 pounds. The…
  • One thing I was told was to avoid or limit amounts of raw broccoli, raw cauliflower, raw spinach. Eating them raw throws off something in the thyroid. Cooked is fine. You can in raw occasionally or in small, limited quantities. Avoid taking antacids within a couple hours of taking meds also.
  • 1 p Cinnabon dry cereal in a bowl...great evening snack. Sweet, crunchy, 1 cup is lots of pieces to get you through the evening munchies.
  • oh they are terrific! I have been doing this for years, great snack in the summer.
  • I understand your frustration. Please, if possible, shop for a GOOD endochronologist. Ask around, call around, do checks on the internet...a good endo will listen to your symptoms & not just rely on blood work numbers. My numbers can be spot on but I will complain about tiredness, coldness, weight gain, etc and my endo…
  • Add me if you want. Got Dx about 2 1/2 years ago but have probably had longer.
  • Very motivational post!!! Thank you. About 10 years ago one of my coworkers made a comment that she wanted to lose a lot of weight because someday she wanted" to be able to go buy pantyhose that weren't Queen Size". I laughed about it at the time but it has always stuck with me. She eventually got her WHY moment. Recently…
  • I had one done 22 years ago when they first started doing them. In fact I was the first one done at North Hills Passavant Hospital. All the nurses kept coming in to look at my belly. Lapriscopic is a great way to go. Since then I had a lapriscopic gall bladder removal too. Recovery is quick. Good luck, you will be fine.
  • I am not sure if it is so much the medicine that causes the hair loss but the thyroid problem that causes it. When I first was Dx with Hashimoto's, one of the questions endo was asking was had I experienced hair thinning. It seemed it was a symptom of the problem not a side effect of the synthroid. I would express this…
  • Love, love , love your post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What great advice & fantastic attitude. You are a great role model. Be proud, you did amazing. :flowerforyou:
  • I agree with you. I used to eliminate sugar. I used "substitutes". The substitutes are NO GOOD for your thyroid & other organs. No matter what they tell you sugar substitutes are BAD for you. Use 2 sugars in your coffee? Try cutting back to 1. Cut your portions down. Use smaller plates. Park further away from your…
  • If you are looking for a good pace to keep during a walk, get the CD "Trinity" by Sean Paul. I DARE you to try and walk slow during these songs!!! When I need to pick up my pace I switch to this CD on my ipod. (Oh, but skip the first track - only a few seconds long but it is a screaming intro to him.)
  • How do you know you boyfriend likes those skinny girls? Really? Most men (men, mature men, not immature boys) like curvy women. You can be thin, healthy but curvy. Learn to love yourself. It took me years to lose the insecurities and low self esteem that I grew up with. For the last 15 years or so, I finally can look in…
  • Please feel free to add me as a friend. I was Dx when I was 47, estrogen receptive positive so I had to do Tamoxifin & then arimidex. to block estrogen so I too went in early menopause. And weight gain, always had weight problems even prior to that. You are doing fantastic losing 10 lbs in a month! Glad to hear you are…
  • Isn't it great how kids can make a bad situation better? That is so cute, he is adorable.
  • Have they also monitored your sugar levels? Maybe low blood sugar?
  • First of all, who said you have to go to the gym? You don't. You can get exercise many, many other ways. Its spring, go out & take a walk in this (finally after a brutal winter!!!) beautiful weather. If you have stairs in your house, walk up and down them several times a day. Put on some music & dance. Secondly, there…
  • I can't believe no one has said this one yet - Be afraid, be very afraid!
  • Hmmm...never even considered that. I have always had a bit of a problem in the belly area. I have what I think they call "an apron" my belly actually hangs over. I always blamed childbirth but now this is something new to consider. When I do pilates, sit ups, etc. it firms up the area put the belly doesn't go away. I was…
  • Walking is my main exercise but lately I have started putting on the "music Choice" channel on TV to the reagae channel & dancing (ok maybe not real dancing but moving to the reagae beat) Find a style of music that really gets you wanting to get up & move. And I am going to find where I stored my old pilate DVD's & restart…
  • I too used to dread going to the dr. & getting on the scale. Now since I am relearning to eat/exercise better (No More Dieting - better eating, Portion control & moving more!!!) I have learned to make the scale my friend. I bought a digital. I tried every scale at Bed Bath & Beyond & found the ones that were the most…
  • This is not a healthy relationship. RUN! I have read through all of the replies and everyone here is basically saying you are selling yourself short by staying in this toxic relationship. A relationship should be based on mutual respect & he clearly has none. Not only is he insulting to you and damaging your self esteem…
  • Maybe someone needs to ask Courtney Love-she claims she found it & knows.
  • please feel free to add me!
  • Ever hear someone say the word Decrepit? Well, that is from "Crepitus". Had my doctor explain that to me years ago....Anyhow, the clicking sometimes is an indication of cartilidge loss. If that is the case & the dr. sees need for, there are injections called Synvisc that can help. I did the injections in my one knee years…
