Hi, I hit 50 last year & had reached a reasonable weight but it went downhill from there. I have thyroid issues which include a slow metabolism so any weight loss plan is always a struggle!
I started MFP on Monday with a positive attitude & realistic goal which I'm determined to reach no matter how long it takes. I do believe that being in this community connecting with people all doing the same thing is going to make a huge difference & be a great help so please feel free to add me, I look forward to sharing this journey with you :)

Good luck to you. Are you on thyroid meds? I just switched from Synthroid to Levothyroxine (the generic for synthetic) & am anxious to see if there is any difference. With new insurance there was a considerable price difference. To back up a bit, I just turned 65 & over the last 6 years have lost over 50 pounds. The thyroid problem was definitely the cause of my years of battling my weight. Not that it's easy now but at least possible with having the meds make my thyroid work somewhat properly. It really is important to track your food, it's too easy to fall back into eating bigger portions. I had been down 60 pounds & have regained 10 pounds by thinking I could do it on my own without measuring, weighing & tracking. So I am back here again putting all my food & exercise in. It will work for you too.

Thanks for your encouragement & well done on your loss so far! ...
I'm on 100mcg Levothyroxine which seems to work as my bloods are pretty good at the moment, but I do have a lot of complex issues related to my thyroid (slow metabolism & tiring easily being big issues) which is why I struggle.
I followed weightwatchers for over a year & got to a comfortable weight in Dec 2016 but when I came off it intending to be good (I maintained the weight til around June 2017) I slowly gained again!
So here I am determined to get it right this time & I really think this community will be a great help :)
