Possible replacement? I am missing my Pact immensely, and found this while googling for a replacement: http://www.thecommitapp.com/#site-block--qlr2pxio1y9lft10hdb5im4q

I've never heard that phrase, but get it now!:)

I thought this was a very helpful, and simple, article about nutrition: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/21/upshot/simple-rules-for-healthy-eating.html?ref=health&_r=0&abt=0002&abg=0

Pregnant?

I rarely, rarely weigh my food. I've probably weighed about five different items the whole time I've been logging. I use measuring cups and estimate, and it seems to be working just fine. I also just use the calorie counts for exercise that MFP gives me. So maybe give it a try, and see if you can guesstimate!

If you feel fuller with Ezekiel bread, and therefore don't overeat at your next meal, it might be worth it.
-
No kidding! Maybe it's calculated for the rest of the year...:) The app has not been working right for the last week for me. Anyone else having those issues?

Beans? Popcorn? Can you do any cardio? These are things that help me, as well as fruits and vegetables. And I try to make every grain I eat a whole one. Good luck!

I'd set it at 1/2 pound, too, just because I would be miserable otherwise:). I've never been so hungry in my life as when I was nursing a baby! Or maybe try to create a deficit with exercise only?

This is a good answer! I rarely weigh and occasionally measure, but have had success. Maybe it could have been faster, but it's painful for me to count calories anyway so I don't think it would be sustainable FOR ME. For others, it probably is. I underestimate a little on my burns, too, since they always seem high. I…

How do you feel? Do you have more energy and stamina if you eat first? I know I do, but maybe it doesn't affect your workouts.

I take issue with a caffeine craving meaning you need something else. Caffeine is pretty addictive, if you're craving caffeine, you're craving caffeine.
-
I don't this this is necessarily true. Plenty of people maintain their weight, more or less, their whole life. Many people can naturally balance their energy output and input without measuring, weighing or counting calories. Those people are, of course, vastly underrepresented on MFP.:)

I think that some foods actually contain less calories than your body uses to digest them. Celery, for example? And maybe cabbage.

Have you been at your goal weight as an adult? Were you significantly happier? These are questions I've been asking myself. I wasn't any happier at my goal weight, so instead of focusing on how great I'll look at a certain event or in a certain outfit, or how happy I'll be, I am trying to focus on how I feel every day, how…

It's been a few year since I was BFing, but I remember them saying it burned up to 500 extra calories a day. Might want to take that into account! Honestly, I have never been hungrier than when I was nursing a baby.

I wish!

I third the fitnessblender recommendation, they have a ton of HIIT workouts. They are incredibly boring instructors, IMNSHO, but you can play your own music separately.

I say absolutely not. I also drink a Diet Coke every day. I don't think diet soda contributes to weight gain. I know there have been a couple of studies lately that says it might, slightly, but if you're consciously trying to track your calories and lose weight, I think a calorie free treat can only help.
-
I do too, but I think it's inaccurate if you eat a lot of fruit and veggies. A carrot is high in sugar, according to MFP, but has a very low glycemic index. I wish it tracked added sugar.

"Vegetable" is a culinary term, only. Many foods we consider vegetables are actually the fruit or root of the plant, as you probably know:)

I agree you can't spot reduce, but I also know that core workouts help my posture and my pooch. I think it's just sticking out less when I'm consistent with ab workouts, because my inches lost doesn't go down too much, but it feels better anyway.
-
Your post reminded me we are out of milk. Wait, that is the kind of pour you meant, right?
-
I have never been so hungry as when I was breastfeeding, but I also lost weight. Sorry to say that was just through exercise and not capture reduction, though, so it doesn't really answer your question.
-
I can't help you as I was just coming to post this exact question, but I'll at least bump it up in the queue!

People become obese because they eat at a surplus... my snacks are usually 500 calories and my diet is balanced. I have 3000 calories to work with so I think I can overcome a high calorie snack here and there. [/quote] Wellll, most people don't have 3000 calories to work with. You do realize that, right?

Uncle Sam with a banana. It's very yummy, very filling, and high in fiber.

Have to agree with rnprincess, I gave up my premium microbrew every night, and that actually seemed to have help. I think it was the refined carbs, because I didn't change overall calorie consumption or exercise.

Have you had your thyroid checked? If the gland is swollen, that could be what you are seeing.

You all gave me such great advice that I wanted to reply with an update.. Unfortunately (sort of), I still have not been able to pull it off, though! But now, I think that's okay. I tried for two weeks to get up at 5:15 so I could work out, and I was only able to twice. Those days my workouts were miserable slogs, like it…
