  • I work out roughly the same amount at the OP, however I have specific fitness reasons for doing so that have NOTHING to do with weight loss. For me it is sustainable to train like this 7 days a week. I don't think it's overkill by default, but I do agree with the others who suggest that this is probably overkill for…
  • I don't mean to attack the OP, but you do realise that not everyone is on MFP or the forums to lose weight, right? Some of us are athletes who use the site to track our exercise. Some of us are trying to *gasp* gain weight. Some of us are trying to maintain our weight. Just because some people here don't happen to be here…
  • My diary is closed, but... I'm very time poor due to my job, so am always looking for easy no-cook meals. Last thing I want to do after working 14-16 hours is cook. A few things I eat that are on the cheap side: * plain rice cakes topped with hommus, baby spinach and a tin of tuna in springwater (drained) * pre-cooked bbq…
  • Professor of mining geology :)
  • Gym. More equipment means a more well rounded workout. I do however run and cycle and swim outdoors when the weather's good for it.
  • I am also 5'2" and I eat anywhere between 1800 and 3000 a day - I do calorie cycling. I also happen to burn over 10000 a week from exercise, so bear that in mind. I have recently moved from weight loss to maintenance (CW: 94 lbs), but had no problems losing weight using that method. And yes, I ate back most of my exercise…
  • I don't log alcohol...Because I don't drink. Not everyone eats or drinks the same thing!
  • I figure it all comes out in the wash... Not getting all the calories out of X. Underestimating the calories from fibre in Y. Not counting the 5-30% calorie reduction used to actually chew and digest food Z. Just like I'm sure that the slight overestimation of my calorie burn on the treadmill at the gym evens out if you…
  • Fresh crusty bread Smothered in avocado Topped with raw smoked salmon Best food ever.
  • I dunno about supermodel...But I like to think I'm decent looking. And I have a PhD. Trust me, that doesn't mean I want to date another PhD.
  • The article is more or less saying that you can run a bigger deficit than previously thought in order to lose weight without going into "starvation mode". What you need to take into consideration is that they tested this theory using data collected in the 1950's using men who were already fit and healthy - not obese people…
  • I have access to the full article, and it's worth noting the following pargraph in the conclusions: I think the authors are quite clear that they can't draw too many conclusions from their limited study.
  • Still trying to figure this out to be honest...I *should* be maintaining, but I'm not. 5'2", 32 years, female 95 lbs Train 7 days a week (but take a rest day if my body needs it), for about 90 minutes a day. Burn between 1000-1500 a day. Yes, I do have a reason for training this much that has nothing to do with my weight.…
  • I believe statistically speaking, your family are in the minority. There are numerous published scientific studies that back up this statement that the majority of people gain the weight back (and then some). I can go find the studies on it if you're really that interested. As for the OP's question...I didn't get rid of…
  • As I work at a university, I go to the university gym. I think the thing that frustrates me most is the number of people who simply seem to use it as a social networking session and sit on the equipment without using it. Seriously people, there's a uni pub and multiple cafe's 2 minutes walk away if you want to catch up…
  • Well since I weigh in at the gym, I'm usually wearing underwear, sport bra, skins, running shorts, tank top, sports socks and running shoes. I know all up this weighs about 1.5-2 lbs, so while I log what the scale actually shows, I know in reality I'm about 2 pounds lighter.
  • I wear Skins underneath my running shorts to help prevent this. Pretty much stopped the itching entirely.
  • Small granny smith apple, 1 serving low fat vanilla yogurt, 1/4 cup multigrain oats, sprinkle of cinnamon. Noms! Sometimes I even have this for dessert :)
  • I'm 5'2" and am currently 95 lbs. I'm done with the weight loss so to speak, but am still trying to find the right balance of calories to maintain. I'm a bit lower than I want to be honest as my target weight was around 98. I'm lean and toned and I have abs again! The main thing for me was always fitness though since I…
  • Chicken costs $17/kg where I live. Bananas cost $10/kg. A loaf of bread is $5. What fantasy land do these people think we live in? Sorry, but my food budget has effectively DOUBLED since I started eating more healthy.
  • Some fruits are more calorie rich than others. I eat an apple, a peach and a few plums most days. I ignore my sugar macros because that puts me way over, but I don't care much because it's natrual sugar. Calories are calories at the end of the day though. I'd just rather get mine from fresh fruit than chocolate or…
  • After my morning training session at the gym - using the digital scales at my gym. I don't think it matters as long as you're consistent about it. Weigh in the morning before/after you pee. Weigh before you go to bed. Just weigh under the same circumstances each time.
  • Precisely. It just takes a little more self discipline than normal because you have to make sure it evens out and you're not "going over" more often than "going under".
  • It's called calorie cycling. Some of us do it intentionally to give ourselves a metabolism boost once or twice a week :)
  • Once upon a time I was a seriously competitive athlete. I ate however much I wanted and it didn't matter, because I was training a lot and competing a lot. Then work got in the way and I stopped competing and training. But kept eating the way I'd always eaten. I put on about 15kg in 18 months. It was never a problem with…
  • Hugo Boss Woman CK One Summer Missoni Aqua - which they no longer make...that makes me sad. Not looking forward to the day I run out. Armani/Prive Ambre Orient Most days I wear the CK. Love it :)
  • I do calorie cycling between 1500 and 2000 a day. Takes a bit of discipline to make sure I'm not at the upper end more often than not, but it works for me. It allows me the occasional calorie laden restaurant meal without stressing about it (I really like Italian, Mexican, Thai and Indian). I track everything on the graph…
  • I've tried. It just goes on, and on, and on...Same thing, different day. Maybe. But it's still not appropriate to be discussing at work. Or to attack someone over it - at work. If these were my friends and they made these type of comments about me, it'd be very easy to reply. I'd have no problem fighting back. But this is…
  • I'm just a smidge under 5'2" and 32 years, but am short by most people's standards. I started out at 141 lbs 13 months ago, and am currently hovering around 99-100 lbs. I've just started maintenance on Dr's orders (they told me not to lose anymore weight for various health reasons), and am still trying to figure out the…
