  • I use one of these wrist pockets. It fits a couple of keys, but also has space to put in a bit of money and an ID card (or similar) just in case. Also doubles as a sweat band. Even with keys, money and a card in it, it's not bulky and is very comfortable to run with. I got mine in Australia, but you should be able to find…
  • Yes. I went through this, and it bit me in the *kitten* in the end. I hit my goal weight and just kept saying "just a little bit more, just a little bit more", until I got to a scarily unhealthy weight. I went from being borderline healthy/overweight, to being really, seriously underweight. I'm not saying this will happen…
  • If you have roo mince, making burgers is a good idea. I also use as a substitute for beef in spag bol. Steak: good to dice up and use in a stew or casserole. I'm happy to eat roo steak as steak though, but then I do like my meat rare. Others are correct in saying it shouldn't be overcooked (unless slow cooking it),…
  • Zucchini subs - gluten and lactose* free. Also, vegan* friendly. * If made with the appropriate kind of cheese.
  • So just a quick update. I spoke to a Dr. There's nothing medically wrong, I am just clearly massively underweight. She has given me orders to put on 1kg a week for the time being, by eating more and stop exercising cold turkey. We'll see how it goes, because 1kg a week means eating 2400 calories a day with no exercise.…
  • Just to make the point... I took this today: While I'm hardly going to deny I'm underweight, I don't think I look problematic.
  • I am 5'2". 32 years old. Female.
  • Yes. I have been tested for it. I have nothing more than a relatively mild gluten intolerance (and a somewhat more serious dairy intolerance) and do take that into account in my diet. I take daily high dose calcium supplements (Caltrate) to deal with the lack of dairy on doctors advice.
  • I live by myself. And due to work situations my relationship is long-distance. I have zero support from anyone. My friends think that "it's too much like hard work" to go to the gym for an hour a day or bother to eat healthy when it's easier to get greasy takeout from the diner. It's a lone journey for me, such as it is.
  • I think in some part I have to put some of this down to MFP. I was actually doing fine for quite a while - until I got this idea in my head that I should stop eating back exercise calories. I never considered that I starved myself as such, because I always ate the 1200-1300 that MFP recommended. But I somehow let people on…
  • I'm almost 33 and my mother still calls me fat. I'm not. According to some people who know me I apparently look borderline anorexic. So take my mother's comments for what they're worth... I don't live at home and quite frankly I've told her to go f*** herself on more than one occasion. She's aware of exactly what she's…
  • For example: I decided I wanted cake. So I got a slice of cake with a black coffee from the cafe. While I'm not going to make myself throw it up or anything, now I have to work out for 90 minutes after work to burn off the calories from the slice of cake. This despite having already done a full workout before work this…
  • I'm a size zero. At least on the bottom. I'm short though, only 5'2", and I'm a distance runner, so I tend to have very low body fat. Shirts and tops I tend towards a size 2 though as I've got slightly wider shoulders from years of swimming training and the 0's just won't fit right. I'm almost 33 years old though (3 more…
  • I don't think I'd ever let myself get back to where I was... I'm 5'2" and had a SW of 141 lbs. I'm uncomfortable mentioning my CW, but suffice to say I've lost a lot, and I'm more or less happy where I am. But that being said, I've been training for a marathon - and not just to finish. I'm actually planning to post what I…
  • I tried this. And it's part of the problem. I thought I'd found my maintenance, but it turned out to just be a plateau. An extended one for about 3-4 weeks. And then I dropped again, and kept dropping. How are you meant to tell the difference between a plateau and actual maintenance?
  • Possibly. I mean it had me on 1200 to lose. And has me on only 1330 to maintain. Yes, seriously. So I've got Technogym telling me I'm burning ~1200+ a day (depending on the day). Adding an extra 600 calories is one thing. Adding an extra 1200 calories is something totally different. I'm scared to up it, because I'm…
  • See, if I put in running at 12.5km/h it comes up with a value of 60% of what that same website gives for walking at 12.5km/h. Seriously? I thought it was well established that running burned more calories than walking due to the gait etc. required. Interesting.
  • I don't want to be a downer, but the biggest surprise for me has been all the negativity. I am amazed at the amount of comments I get about "being anorexic" or "having an eating disorder" or being told to "go eat a sandwich". It's not that I am anorexic or have an eating disorder at all, I think it's just that the people…
  • I do eat meat sometimes, but do admittedly have a mostly vegan diet. I find that if I buy the firm tofu and marinade it in Chinese style (Szechuan-style) spicy sauces, it goes really well. I normally use a Kung Pao Chicken sauce for mine. The sauce mix is vegan friendly, it was just designed as a chicken marinade. Works…
  • I need to have a "healthy *kitten*" for at least another 6 months. I'm actually training for something specific and it's got pretty intense fitness requirements. I guess I thought I was dealing with the training and dietary restrictions better than I thought I was. The personal stuff just seems to have exacerbated the…
  • Breakfast (~1450 cal): Bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, mushrooms on toast slathered with butter Lunch (~2200 cal): Large pepperoni, bacon and mushroom pizza with bbq sauce and the cheese stuffed crust, with garlic bread and wings Dinner (~2500 cal): Mixed Mexican - nachos, soft shell tacos, chimichanga, all with cheese and sour…
  • Fitness reasons mainly. I do half marathons and 12km fun runs with some regularity and recently ran my first full marathon. I know it was raised in an earlier post, but I'm not a beginner to running. I used to compete somewhat seriously back in high school and college. I've built up to this, it's not like I just suddenly…
  • Everlast - Evergel hand wraps. They're meant to be hand wraps for boxing/MMA, but I find they double up as awesome lifting gloves. Come in size XS as well, which I need cos I've got small hands.
  • I agree. I shouldn't have to justify myself beyond saying "thanks but no thanks". Except when this person is a senior colleague, sometimes it's easier just to keep the peace rather than stirring the pot too much. And believe me - I like to stir the pot :P
  • I've had this happen as well because one of my coworkers is somehow convinced I'm anorexic and have an eating disorder. I don't. And quite frankly it's reached the point where her harassment over the topic has been reported to HR for bullying. When she's brought food and put it in front of me and "told me to eat", I've…
  • Why wouldn't I be serious? I'm a runner. And an ex national-level swimmer. I compete in long distance running events and triathlons. *shrug*
  • Mine's also in kph, but equates to: <5 mph is about <8 kph which for me is walking speed 5-6 mph is about 9 kph which for me is brisk walking 6-7 mph is about 9.5-11.3 kph which for me is a slow jog 7-8 mph is about 11.3-13 kph which for me is a medium jog 8-10 mph is about 13-16 kph which for me is running >12 mph is…
  • Speak for yourself! I'm only 5'2" and anything less than 5mph is walking for me. I run at 10mph.
  • I can easily run at 10 mph. Even for someone my size and fitness level (I'm short, thin and a long distance runner), it's not hard to push over close to 1000 calories in an hour at that pace.
