I'm convinced that having friends / family for support helps a great deal. My coworker and I keep each other motivated to do our daily walking - and while it isn't much, it's certainly more than we WERE doing.

22 lbs down, 56 to go. I quit drinking sodapop. It was miserable for the first week, but now I don't miss it. I started parking at the far end of the parking lot. A friend and I started walking for the last 10-15 minutes of our lunch hour. I started watching portion sizes. Started reading labels and paying attention to…

I decided that every 5 lbs I could buy a book or DVD that I want. Every 15 lbs, I get a new pair of work pants (although this becomes more of a necessity than a reward) Every 25 lbs, I get a new computer game. And when I hit my goal weight, and have maintained it for a month, I get a new computer.

I've lost an automobile tire!

Well done!

Baby steps, definitely. At work, if possible, take stairs instead of using the elevator. Park at the far end of the parking lot. Take 10 minutes of your lunch hour and walk. If you drive a desk, try to stand up for a few minutes of every hour. If you know you are eating unhealthy, try cutting down on portion sizes of…

Baby steps are sometimes the best way to get started. I started parking at the far end of the parking lot at work - it's not much, but it's more than I was doing. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Lifestyle change, not a "diet". You can do this! Send me a friend invite; I'll cheer you on.

Use stairs instead of elevator. Park at the far end of the parking lot (walk with a friend if it's dark out). Stand up at your desk for a few minutes of every hour. Walk down the hall and back on your breaks. Congrats on new job, btw. You can DO this.

If you're staying at a hotel, use the stairs instead of the elevators.

The product on that website smells like a scam to me. If you look at the comments, you'll see: 1: The word "Comment" is not spelled correctly. This proves that the website is not professionally done, and raises huge red flags about the product they sell. 2. There are two comments on the same day, different times, different…

It's a little thing, but I've had to tighten my belt one notch.

Same as you - it helps to see that I've made SOME progress, especially when the scale is being Evil.

I'm 51, 5'0" tall, and 195 lbs (down from 212). I feel your pain. It's taken me a while to learn that this isn't a sprint by any means. It's a marathon. What you're planning isn't going to work long-term - you'll either make yourself sick or put the weight all back on again once you start eating more, or both. I know this…

Aspartame gives me a splitting headache. I wouldn't necessarily call it poisoning, but it definitely affects me. Diet drinks made with Splenda don't give me a headache.

Good to know - thank you. I like almonds well enough, but walnuts are my favorite.

I decided that I was only going to step on the scale once a week - on Monday morning. Since I slack off on the weekends (I eat bad and don't exercise), weighing on Mondays gives me a more accurate over-all picture of what I'm doing. As I get closer to where I want to be, I'll stop relying on the scale and start relying…

Query: could you mix the cauliflower with other veggies (carrot chunks, broccoluses) for taste / texture variety?
-
Now that sounds really tasty! I love mushrooms - but don't tend to think of them as a veggie.

I've found that when I'm good about logging what I eat, I do better with staying on track. These past couple of days, I haven't been good about logging - no excuses, just laziness - and it shows. So, yeah, for me, logging works.

I'd recommend cutting down slowly. I was a diet-soda fiend as well - 3 or 4 cans a day was my usual intake. I started by limiting myself to 1 can in the morning and one in the afternoon. The thing about diet sodas is that they're loaded with sodium - which (in my case) wrecks my blood pressure.

I have 70 or so lbs to lose. Like you, I have my good days and my bad. Feel free to add me as a friend, and I'll do my best to be supportive.

My lady was off work today (for Good Friday), so she came out to have lunch. After we ate, we walked around the courtyard for 20 minutes. A slow pace, but at least we were moving!

Both locations are hard tile. And it's hard NOT to obsess about numbers, even though I know I shouldn't.
-
With me it was sodium - Applebee's French Onion soup has half a day's allotment in one bowl.
-
Count me in. I've got 80+ lbs to lose.

There are some guys here. But does it really matter? We're all trying to get fit, to lose weight and make other healthy lifestyle changes. Gender shouldn't matter.
