I'm two counties over, in Polk. Good luck to all us Central Floridians!

Welcome back! I just rejoined also. We can DO this!

Same song here. I was here for a while, dropped out, and just came back - with about 80 lbs left to lose.

Just for today: I will pack my lunch instead of eating the high-sodium, high calorie hot lunch at work.

I recently finished "Left Behind" on the recommendation of a friend. Didn't like it. Characters are wooden and two-dimensional. Writing is terrible. A shame, too, because it's an interesting premise.

I'm back after a year off the wagon. Need to remotivate, if that's a word.

I had terrible shin pains when I first started walking. What I found was that I was trying to do too much too fast. I slowed my pace down somewhat for a couple of weeks and slowly built my way back up.

It's tripe, in my not-at-all-expert opinion. You might lose that much water weight on this diet, but the minute you start eating regular food, the weight will come right back.

Feel free to add me (that goes for everyone). I've replaced Facebook with MFP for my social networking "fix". I can't promise to comment on every post, but I will comment as much as I can. I am a HUGE aficianado of the EM2WL plan because it's working for me. Gotta run - must get ready for work (it's 6:30am here).

Boot troll from FL. Keep walking.

Last year, one of my coworkers pushed me pretty hard to get a Kindle or Nook. That was when I figured out that most of my library wasn't available - and that it would cost me upwards of a thousand bucks to go electronic on the books that WERE. So I graciously declined. I have an account on Library Thing, and I'm slowly…

I'm pleased to have found this group. Currently reading (rereading, if one must be accurate) "I, Claudius" by Robert Graves.

I read here once that one of the biggest differences with a treadmill is whether or not you hold onto it. If you do, you burn far fewer calories.
-
You can also try increasing your walking pace. I recently added stairs to my walking regime.

One obvious (to me) solution is to get rid of the unhealthy snacks and replace with things that are better for you such as celery sticks.

With TDEE the way I understand it (which may not be correct) is this: Eat at TDEE to maintain. Eat at TDEE-20% to lose weight. My TDEE-20% is within 100 calories of what MFP gives me (with the caveat that MFP has me eat back my calories and TDEE does NOT).

BMR: 1682 TDEE: 2018 TDEE-20: 1615 Now I have to figure out how to actually eat 1600 calories in a day without loading up on junk. And I have to figure out how to set my macros in MFP.

Thanks. I will get this all set up, and them come back and report.

Ash me no questions... A bit more seriously, feel free to add me if you can stand my babbling.

Quick Curry - 1 cup each of your favorite veggies (I use corn, peas, carrots, diced potatoes, onions, and peppers). 1 cup brown rice curry powder and other seasonings to taste. cook up the rice with half the seasoning. mix veggies together in large bowl with the rest of the seasonings, and heat (steam, microwave, boil,…

I started parking at the far end of the parking lot at work. I also started walking for 15-20 minutes on my lunch hour. They're simple things to do so you'll be more likely to stick with them.

Welcome to MFP! I'm 51, and pre-diabetic. At my last physical, my doctor really got on me about weight. My blood pressure was up as well. Anyway, this is a good place to come for support and advice. Most of the folks are really helpful. Again, welcome! You can do this!

Try adding a bit more exercise into your days off to help offset what you're eating. Also keep healthy snacks on hand, and grab for them when you get the munchies.

I agree with Coyote. If you've been sick, everything's out of kilter. Stay off the scale for a couple of weeks until you get back into your routine.

First question: What branch? What applies to the Army (where I spent 6 years) may not apply to the Navy for example. All branches have their own lingo, their own traditions. In general, I enjoyed being in the military. There is a LOT of mickey-mouse initially (especially in boot camp), but once you get past that it's a lot…

Successful people: Realize that "diets" aren't going to do it. To get the weight off and KEEP it off requires a shift in lifestyle. Realize that it's not going to come off in 2 days or 2 weeks or even 2 months. It took longer than that to put it on. Don't get frustrated and quit the first time they hit a stumbling block.
