  • Agreed. I use beet and spinach greens in soups or stirfrys and especially in our home made pesto sauce!
  • Lose fat, gain muscle, eat and drink to fuel your body. I've had more luck reducing thigh cellulite by strength training and gaining curves than I ever did exclusively concentrating on losing weight. I do find that I notice it more when I don't drink as much water and eat a lot of high sodium foods.
  • Two things have helped me overcome my family members picky eating (I've never been a picky eater, I love all foods :P ) 1. Add healthy/low calorie foods to or with my favorites so we can still fill up and feel satiated. Like using a food grater to add vegetables to our favorite spaghetti meat sauce or adding broccoli and…
  • I love my charger HR and like some others wanted to stop using my chest strap hrm. I used both for a week together during workouts to make sure the fitbit was working the same at the wrist ( I was skeptical at first) and it was amazingly close, usually withing 30 calories for an hour long workout. The only thing I dislike…
  • I add some crunchy veggies like cucumber or broccoli slaw works great as a sub for say dried noodles in an Asian salad. Still get the crunch and can add a little salt into the dressing/vinaigrette instead. Sliced almonds, sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds are also a great addition for taste and texture but have to be…
  • My daughter today told me that they (the 3 of them) wanted to leave out one of each kind of goodie we made for Santa. I thought to myself "Not the pecan snow balls, those are Mommy's favorite, Santa doesn't need one." Took a couple minutes to realize..... I definitely have my favorite holiday snacks planned into my eating…
  • These were my results going through BR the first time. Honestly pictures don't even do it justice, how I felt and how my clothes looked and fit was a way bigger (and better) difference at least in my opinion. I really liked the program and it kept me less bored than many other ones I've tried. It's a great circuit training…
  • Kettlebells are awesome. When I first started with them I thought they were a trend to but quickly learned that they've been around a long time. They're great home equipment for people with limited space but still want a killer workout. I know I asked Santa for another new one this year, I sure hope I get it! Also agree…
  • Fitnessblender.com has a ton pre-made already....
  • Find a new goal. Whenever I lose motivation its usually after I've already met a previous one or 'finished' something I was working on.
  • Pepper, cellery, green onion, sharp cheddar and german salami is my all time favourite mix. Like others have said pretty much anything on hand can get thrown in the mix with eggs and taste yummy!
  • Glad to hear it! I as well always feel better when I'm more active and eating intentionally instead of just stuffing in what I can find. Keep up the great work I'm sure you'll continue to enjoy the rewards!!
  • I love using diced zucchini/ yellow summer squash in soups for texture and mild flavor as well as they are a staple in our ground beef meals like chili, meat sauce and meat loaf. I use a basic box grater for zucchini, carrot and mushroom and mix it in like any other ingredient in the 'original' recipe. An easy way to…
  • While I actually love working out, that may be because I also love blasting my favorite tunes during it. Anything from FFDP to Stevie Wonder to some guilty pleasures like SUM 41. Right now some favorites in the mix are Baby Metal, Fear Factory, Soilwork, Whitesnake, Joan Jett and always some Queen (Don't stop me now - by…
  • Agreed. My heart rate reads anywhere between 120-155 during KB workouts but will read no activity when it is around 110 during lifting sessions unless I jog in place or other cardio activity in between sets.
  • Haha, he said do do. Thanks for the share. While I've read and understood the concept for some time now it was really great to see it in such a fun and easy to understand video. How different our generations weight and health would be if Bill Nye had just done one episode on this subject :P
  • My Charge HR reads my kettle bell workouts, though I move it further up my arm to keep it safe during snatches and cleans, and it seems to read my heart rate well up there and relatively accurate compared to my chest strap HRM. Like morihay asked, I would wonder if you are starting an activity monitoring time.
  • First I would suggest discussing with a physiotherapist who specializes in sciatic pain. I know when mine flared up the help I got was great and much better than just seeing my doctor who gave medication and recommended 'rest and wait'. We ended up working on many movements, light stretches and strengthening routines to…
  • Yup, lots. My usual go to is dark chocolate or fruit so its a little bit of a change and definitely fun to take advantage during the years the kids are still little. I don't regret it and now I'm absolutely done wanting anything so sweet. A couple days a year of sweets and milk chocolate ain't gonna hurt as long as it fits…
  • The final costumes all came together nicely and we all had a blast!
  • Just a trial run this week before tomorrows events. Definitely hope to have some better pics :P
  • Ok not really, but I do like the reminder sometimes that I killed it and my muscles are talking back (though the time frame is usually more like 24-48 hours).
  • Truly this. The habit of it is what keeps me going, and maybe the stubborn guilt I get if I skip a workout or mindlessly eat. I do still try to find motivation in different things, whether it is new PRs, higher endurance, a new recipe etc. Ways to make it about more than just weight loss.
  • Love it! Congratulations also on how far you've came, you must feel GREAT!
  • That having kids meant I could never have the body I wanted. That it was just my body type to be heavier (big boned, wide shoulders/hips etc). That my asthma, bad knees and anxiety/depression were too much to get in the way. It goes on... Mostly it was the all or nothing thinking, this was the biggest hurdle. That I would…
  • I agree, a little bit of both. I would know, mine looks/looked similar. Doing compound movements and lots of different plank work has definitely helped it "hang" less and slowly the fat has gone down while I believe the stronger my core gets the less the skin sags so much. It's a slow process and probably will never look…
  • Don't stop me now - Queen Fire it up - Black Label Society Disposable Teens - Marilyn Manson Who wouldn't wanna be me - Keith Urban No one gets left behind - FFDP Off the top of my head, far too many to even consider. Of course Eye of the Tiger.... I don't know anyone that doesn't get at least a little pumped with a smile…
  • Parmesan no question. Can add amazing flavor to almost anything. I could live without cheddar on nachos and mozza on lasagna...... but I put parm on almost everything :P
