I was the same as you. I made the shift a couple of years ago. I still LOVE white bread and have it the odd time, but with regards to pasta and rice I don't even notice a taste difference any more. You'll be the same in no time. Good luck!

Did you stay within your nutritional goals? NOPE :( Did I reach yesterday's personal goal? Didn't set any What did I do yesterday that I am proud of?Finished up a pretty decent presentation for work today and re-made the beds in the stables. What would I have done differently? After a 5 to 10 minute warmup, I like to gradually increase the speed over a period of ten to fifteen minutes. Crank it up by a set pace every 30 seconds or one minute for example until you are at a near sprint and then do the opposite (decrease by set amount every minute) to wind back down again. You can also do this…

Hey, Just found this group, it looks right up my street! I finished my Ph.D. 3 years ago and since then am commuting 2.5 hours per day and working as a Research Associate. This can demand long hours when we have publications pending. I also look after 2 horses, 1 dog and one set of quadruplets (we have my other half's kids…

Leave it for two weeks before you weigh in next and see if not knowing if there is a loss or not makes a difference. If it does, then you know not to weigh in as frequently as you do

At 5 ft 4 and a half myself, I completely understand the sentiment!! I started at 142 and am currently 119. I have been a few pounds lighter in the past than I am now, but I think anything below my current weight (given my body frame) just looks a bit gaunt.

* bump * defo going to give this a go

I'd recommend a rest day to let your muscles repair themselves. You want to get fit not fatigued. Either that or try something low impact like a nice long walk or a slow paced swim.

Dried fruits and nuts (in moderation, just a couple of handfuls per day) Popcorn, if you avoid overly sugary or salty ones you can be ok (Is this still a vegetable?!) Smoothies are great for a sugar fix - try mixing up blueberries, cranberries and strawberries with a orange juice, some carbonated water and a drop of ginger…

Why not up your calories to 1450 or 1500 per day and either lose the weight more slowly or exercise a little (half an hour walking a day will burn about 120 cals) to work the rest off. Think of it as a change in lifestyle and not a 'diet.' That way it doesn't matter how long it takes to get where you want to be, as long as…

Either that or nobody knows the answer! Good luck :)

It's nice to see so many opinions on this! I agree that the logging tool is incredibly useful in many cases, but I think for me it makes me worry too much on the 'bottom line.' At present i'm pretty much maintaining my weight but when I start logging I notice it actually creeps up!!!! I think I know already what choices I…

Going to the North East after work today, headin to a footy match, out on the town Saturday night, then fly home on Sunday. I Imagine there may be a bit of over-indulgence so heading to the gym at 4.30 first!

I'm a Research Engineer working in biomedical informatics. Building mathematical methods for tracking worm embryo division at the minute. VERY BORING lol hence my tendency to comfort eat at work!

Roast Some Red Peppers under the Grill until they start to char Put some pasta on to boil (I like tagliatelli) Put 3 or 4 tomatoes in a pan of hot water and let them soak until the skin starts to split... Why not get a neutral friend to casually drop in how good a couple you two would make.... then gauge his reaction!! It might tell you whether it's worth taking the risk or not.

So this isn't a healthy or responsible reply, but it's an honest one.... Stick to low sugar spirits and diet mixers. Vodka and Diet Coke, Gin and Slimline Tonic, Gin and Juice (Diet fanta orange)...... ;p There's about 50 cals in a vodka.... 5 of them == one hour brisk walk before you go out.

When I go for pizza I order a MASSIVE salad with it and make sure to eat most of that. That usually fills me to the point where less than half a whole pizza is enough. I also go light on the cheese, zero meat ( salami / roni etc is notoriously high in fat ), and add loads of chilli peppers (Some folk believe hot food can…

I used to worry about the same thing. Then I went to the gym with a male friend and he said "It's so nice to see a girl actually work hard for once. You're not scared to get stuck in." Since then, I'm proud of the fact that I'm getting a sweat on and not just faffing about. Let's face it, we go to the gym to push ourselves…

Hi there, Your body weight can fluctuate by anything up to a few pounds every day due to factors such as water retention, time of day you weigh, menstrual cycle etc. I weight myself at the same time (early morning) and use an "average-weight" measure as opposed to exactly what the scales say. There's an application for…

Dear World, Thank you that I wake up every morning with the opportunity to make what I want of the day. Thank you for giving me the enthusiasm and determination (most of the time) to turn what I want into a reality. Thankyou for making the sunrise so beatutiful, so that my 6am start didn't seem as daunting this morning.…

In terms of calorific content eggs are not that high. Many people think the amount of cholesterol and fat in eggs makes them a poor food for dieting, however there is evidence to suggest otherwise: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1049144/Eating-eggs-day-CUT-cholesterol-help-lose-weight.html Anyway, i'm not sure…
