I get the idea of using meal replacement shakes when you're trying to lose weight. But hang on, why do you need a meal replacement shake when you've reached your goal? Oh wait, of course, if you didn't the snake oil salesman wouldn't continue to make any money out of you.

"Guys" will like all women (and men) in all shapes and sizes. Personally I like athletic, hence my ticker has a picture of Jessica Ennis on it.

I like your attitude. Looking forward to more recipes.

I'm curious. When you say 'friend/consultant' what do you mean? Is your friend really a trained and academically tested professional expert in diet and nutrition, or are they using the term 'consultant' instead of 'Herbalife distributer/dealer/peddler'. I don't have a problem with meal replacement shakes, I use whey…

True, we're here to motivate - not rip off. As for you, you could save yourself $3/day and buy any other meal replacement shake out there. And with the money saved you could then join a gym. More often than not gym membership includes free classes such as Zumba etc. where they are not trying to sell you anything.

If you guys want to blow your cash on some network marketing scam that's your choice, but I don't think you should be peddling your snake oil here.

Likewise. i sometimes get that late night text message asking me to go on a chocolate hunt. How could I refuse.
-
This. You're only cheating yourself to do otherwise.

I know that every few weeks my wife brings extra chocolate and cake into the house. This study by Dr Sarah Romans makes for interesting reading though. http://healthland.time.com/2012/10/22/pms-is-a-myth-new-study/

Regardless of the cancer risk, tanning is ultimately just plain ugly. Everyone I know who has regularly tanned has skin that looks like hide, making them appear much older than they really are.

You could try an agnostics 12 steps that I found with a quick google. 1. We accept the fact that all of our efforts to stop drinking have failed. 2. We believe that we must turn elsewhere for help. 3. We turn to our fellow men and women, particularly those who have struggled with the same problem. 4. We have made a list of…

You certainly misled me, and I'm glad. Fantastic result.

I fear you are setting yourself up to fail. You didn't arrive at 320 pounds overnight, why do you feel the need to lose it quickly. MFP recommends a controlled weight loss of 1 pound per week. You have set yourself up to lose double that and still feel that the calorie allowance offered by MFP is too high. At your weight I…

In response to the OP. I let my lifestyle slip. I allowed my calorie intake to exceed calories burnt. I chose a more sedentary lifestyle. I piled on the pounds and tipped the scales at 13 stone (182lbs). I saw a photo of myself in a tight fitting t-shirt and hated it. I didn't blame anyone else, I had made my own choices.…

You see yourself everyday so the change has been very gradual for you. The fact that others have noticed proves that your weight loss is noticable. The fact that your jeans are too big also proves that your waist line has decreased. As checkmateking says, find a photo of you 48lbs ago. I would also suggest taking another…

This is so wrong I have to comment. I agree that I don't necessarily have a right to judge or bully another person. ...However... Without the right to freely criticize then there can be no freedom of speech. Being criticized is NOT the same as being judged or bullied.

Don't concern yourself with one day. Instead aim to hit your weekly target.

I don't see how it can be false, it's simple maths. I am talking about calories burned per minute, not calories burned per workout.
-
I appear to have made you angry, for that I apologise. I believed I was offering support by dispelling a myth that, if followed through, would be detrimental to your calorie count.
-
That's probably why MFP doesn't calculate calories burnt for weight training. Everybody's idea of weight training is different. I recently joined a gym and explained to my instructor what my goals were; to lose the spare tyre, tone up, and be ski fit. To that aim my weights program is more like a circuit. I do pairs of…

I believe you're confusing the effect alcohol has in breaking down of the surface tension of water (making water wetter), with somehow creating an increase in volume (dietary wetness). It would be cool if a shot of what you fancy did increase the hydrating effect of water.

I'd love to hear the science behind this ;-)

A negligible amount. You probably burn off more calories pouring the drink and crushing the ice than you do in your body heating up the iced water.

Just as there is no evidence to support the existence of a god, likewise there is no evidence to support the existence of ghosts. There may be wonderful ghost stories about haunted houses etc, but no real evidence. The shows about ghost hunters are just that, shows. If ghosts were real they would be science documentaries.…
