When you have a LOT of weight to lose you CAN safely have quite a big deficit for a LITTLE WHILE assuming you can handle it. It will make you very cranky and hungry at your weight but you can do it for a couple months without any real damage, just to give you a big boost. I started at 220, did 1200 for probably 2 months,…

If you are following MFP you are SUPPOSED to eat back your exercise calories (at least half). Not doing so could impact your performance and your general health. 1200 calories is a NET, not a gross. I NET 1200 while eating 2000-2400+/day. With 40lbs to lose you are better to set MFP to 1lb/week (not 2) and eat back some of…

This ^^ Look in my diary, most of my stuff is non-branded. It even works for things like milk, eggs and oatmeal ;) It's actually quite rare that there isn't an entry in there for something I eat. 90% of the branded stuff are also things that I have added to 'my foods' so I know that the numbers are correct for my location…

No, it's actually not.. IF you started when they were BABIES. The problem comes when parents are not 'parenting' and they let the kids get away with not eating and throwing tantrums until they get something else. My cousins are ALL like this, my sister in law was like this and all her kids are like this.. Our child knows…

I totally agree! Please don't forget the IQ test too. Good grounds for child rearing IMHO. Reasonably intelligent, capable of providing necessities and able to teach proper nutrition and physical fitness. People who breed with no consideration to their financial capabilities, physical/emotional and intellectual state need…

That's how I see it. Unless someone specifically says "we're going Dutch" the person who asks, pays. If someone were to ask ME out and expect me to pay it would be the last time I ever went anyplace with them. If you WANT to pay that's fine, but she wouldn't expect it IMHO

Absolutely! I've done this with bread slices, buns, eggs, pretty well everything. The results are always the same. The servings are usually not accurate and when you have a teeny deficit - they add up. It's super easy to go over by even 50 cals a day and you have blown your 250 deficit (.5lb/wk) for the week. The only…

Just relax.. 2 lbs in 3 months for us is NORMAL.. Actually that's more than what I lose ;) You could be my twin for stats. I eat out quite regularly also. Most of the time the places I go also don't have calories listed so I have to do a lot of guessing. Order things baked/steamed if you can. Fish is pretty safe as long as…

OP.. I'd suggest you take some time to learn things before you post again. Your post is complete garbage. There is NO magic number for EVERYONE. There are many people who are FINE on a 1200 calorie diet. The problem is that people don't read, understand and implement it properly. I'm 5'6 - 143lbs, 41 yrs old. If I let MFP…

YET. You are just starting and still have good amounts of weight to lose, you probably have yourself set to 1200 and don't eat back the calories that you are supposed to.. When you get closer to your goal this method will not work anymore. No one gets to their goal by accident, you don't just "magically" lose the last 10…

http://www.pureprotein.com/products/chocolate-deluxe-50-g/ Quest bars have too much added sugars and too many calories for my taste. The pure protein bar I eat has 180 calories, 3 g of sugar and 21g of protein (I think more than quest). They are yummy, not to expensive and have great macros for me.

Me too. I have 37g for just over 400. My diary is open. Steel cut oats, blueberries, greek yogurt and protein powder. You can modify the amounts to suit your intake. I'm on net 1200 and have no issues eating them daily. My portion fills up a 500g container of sour cream and it's very filling. I haven't found anything to…

You are totally kicking all kinds of *kitten*! Great job!

That sounds more likely. Can anyone provide anything specific on this topic? Should I be seeing it improve again after I'm done or did I completely screw my progress?
-
Yes, that's my point. I'm 15 lbs LIGHTER, which by definition means I should eat less or workout more considering that last year I was eating about 2175 -according to that thread and I was told that my daily 600 calories burned were grossly over estimated. Thus bmy y that logic my calories burned are STILL grossly over…

I eat a LOT... When I was 240 lbs I was eating 2800/day and maintaining. I am eating almost as much now. I still need a deficit to lose weight. I am set to lose .5/wk . If I eat more I won't have a deficit. I can see if I was losing tons but I barely lose anything as it is, maybe 1 lb a month or 2. How will I lose weight…

I only go to the gym 3 days. The rest of the time I just jog to work or after work. I don't ever have a day where I do nothing - I wouldn't be able to eat :P
-
I have eaten a minimum of 100g of protein almost every day for the past 2 years. It's a minimum for me and keeps me full. It hasn't affected my losses at all. If anything, it's one of the reasons why I have remained very muscular even though I didn't lift weights at all in my first year.
-
I net 1200 (eat 2000-2400) 5'6,145ish. Down to my last 10 or so. I'm losing a little less than .5/week. I eat at LEAST 100g of protein and 60g of fat per day and normally I'm not starving by bed time. I'd suggest also eating more protein, fat, fiber and dropping your wine&cheese to only an occasional treat. You're wasting…

Every day -either gym, running, or both. How the he*k else am I going to get to eat more than 1200 stupid calories? I'm set to lose 1lb/week. I eat 2000 - 2400 calories a day. I hate winter because my maintenance calories are only about 1900 since I can't do my normal outside running/walking and don't have all day to waste…

THIS. If I gave up every time I had a "bad day" I would still be "trying". There is no try, only DO, or DO NOT. So you eat a little more than you should.. It's not a "failure" just do better tomorrow. As long as you have more days when you're close to your goal than you have days where you're way over you are doing just…
-
I NET around 1200 most days..of course I eat somewhere between 2000 and 2500 calories a day - more if I am hungry, less if I am not. I'm also about 10 lbs from goal so I have to set MFP for 1lb/week loss in order to lose about .5 (which is what I have been averaging since dropping to 1200) THUS based on my 2 years of…

This is mainly what I do but I'm not really upset about it taking longer because I'd much rather be able to enjoy my life a little while I'm losing. I have been doing this for almost two years and I have at LEAST one more to go before I am happy with the way that I look and that's ok with me :) As for friends. ..I'm with…

I have the same issue. I dialed back a little on the weight and now am paying more attention to correct form. I also signed up for a TRX training course (im half way through now) I don't "love"it by any means but it's definitely helping me put some focus on my core stability. I'm excited to see how my numbers progress once…

I'm with the above posters ;) I typically have my second dinner/snack just before bed, always have. As long as you are with your calories for the day the timing doesn't really matter for most people.

We did the same last year WACKEN!!!!!!!!! was fu*k'n AWESOME!! 5 days of camping out with 74998 of our closest metalhead friends! Sabaton is my favorite band of all time! Rammstein is second (they headlined Wacken) - if you've never seen them live - do it OMFG!! I'm old school metal also, been a banger since the 80's!…

I'm not a moderator but, thank you for reporting the post instead of replying to it ;) That was the best thing to do. For anyone else who is new, please please please do not reply to spam posts (it just keeps them at the top of the page) - just report them and move on.

Check my diary for specifics. I have been eating pretty much the same thing every day for the past 2 years. I adjust the amount to fit my current goal. Right now it's 372 calories 52 carb 4 fat with 35g of protein. I've never found a higher protein breakfast for the equivalent calories. Mix Greek yogurt and protein powder,…

The most difficult part of losing weight is accepting your responsibility in the process, the next is not allowing yourself to make excuses for why you're not doing what you know you need to do. You have taken those two very important steps, and by doing that, you have opened the door to a happier and healthier life. I…
