Great job!! You should be so proud of yourself! Getting over anxiety is a hard thing to deal with and choosing to face it head on takes a lot of guts! I did my first camping festival last year in Germany after having lost about 60 lbs also ;). It was a little touch and go the first day. I wasn't sure I could deal with it.…

I forgot about this site also.. lots of cheap food ideas. http://www.budgetbytes.com/

Frozen veggies are normally pretty cheap, so is rice, beans, canned veggies (like creamed corn) tomato soup, pasta.. I agree with the dollar store idea. Also sometimes the grocery stores will sell older produce at very large discounts. The portions are what you will need to watch when you need to be on a budget because the…

As a society we are inherently incapable of taking responsibility for anything these days. Always looking to shift the blame on someone/something.. We say things like "It's not MY fault I can't lose weight because: - I have no time to work out - I have kids/partner who like to eat sweets - I am weighing…

This! Just work up to it. The damage from smoking will improve. I smoked for 23 years and have been smoke free now for almost 6. It will take a little bit, but eventually it's almost like you never started. Good for you for taking control of your health! It's so much easier when you're young and still in reasonable shape :)

They should sticky this in the"getting started"

In case some are not aware, there are many entries in the database which were entered by MFP (no *) for liquids such as milk & oil. I weigh EVERYTHING not just solids. There are very few things that don't have a standard MFP entry if you know how to search.

Life happens. No one is 100% perfect every day. You don't have to DO anything, just try to make better choices the next day. Eventually it gets easier to make better choices but even people who have been doing this for a long time have "binges", 1 day isn't going to completely derail you - unless you let it :)

I would wager that at LEAST 75% of everyone who started "dieting" last year failed because they chose a plan that was not sustainable. They tried to cut too much, to fast, swore to workout, gave up every "bad"food they could think of and in general tried to change everything they ever knew. Do you fall into this category?…

Add for me too! I'm also on 1200 net now that I'm closer to my goal I'm really feeling it. These are days I really wish I had my boyfriend's metabolism. I'd love to be able to cut at 2400, but unfortunately I'm a small female who is very close to goal and I'm stuck eating 1800. I want the foodz!!!

Hmm, I look nothing like those women. I hate being oddly shaped. I'm currently 143 ish in size 6/8 bottom, s/m top. Most of my fat is in my gut still.
-
Thanks for the reply Vismal. I just thought of another one.. I'm starting a cut phase after about 8 months of very nearly maintenance, I was eating around 2000 - 2400 cals / day (net 1400). I'd like to start cutting again and have decided that 1200 NET should be good. I was wondering about the Macros.. I 'heard' that carbs…

It depends on where you are in your journey. If you have a LOT to lose and are on low calories then a cheat day probably won't derail you completely. If you are like me.. down to the last 10 lbs and on a TINY deficit (.5lb/week) then a cheat day is a VERY BAD idea. I tell you honestly, I can kill my deficit for the ENTIRE…

That's a good bit of information and sounds very much like what I'm dealing with - though I wouldn't consider myself 'very lean' I've been having a really hard time trying to progress any further with my weights and on some of them I've backslid a LOT. I can relate to that sluggy feeling for sure. I'm trying to do another…

You're half way to your goal. Seems pointless to only do something half way. It gets harder the closer you get to your goal so you need to want it more than anything else. I'm 2 years into this and some days I still just want to give up. I could easily convince myself that I've lost enough but in the end I would feel like…

Hate to tell you but it wasn't from protein unless you were somehow using it in some unintended way. I've been supplementing with whey proteIn powder for almost two years. Normally I mix it with my yogurt and oatmeal for breakfast. I have never drunk it because I refuse to drink my calories. If you're going to mix it up…

I don't know that you can see much of it but I started at 228 lbs with a double belly. It's only been in the past while that it has gone to a single belly - I think I danced with joy on that day ;) Pics in my profile.

Agreed. I can't imagine that I was the ONLY happy , outgoing ,confidant & friendly fat person on the planet.. I haven't changed at all. I am still the same as I always have been, there is just less of me. People DO treat me differently. They hold doors more instead of letting them slam in my face. Women will include me in…

No Questions, just wanted to mark my place in the thread and say what an awesome job you have done. I've been on this road for 2 years, lost most of the weight last year, so far this year I 'might' be down 5 lbs if I am lucky but I have been working on a very slow re-comp and I'm dropping body fat but not weight - my…
-
This actually is what happened to me also. I have been on this road for almost 2 YEARS, at a deficit for most of it. In order to try to increase my metabolism again I have gone into a very close to maintenance phase, I've been up and down the same .5lb since December 2013 (so I'd say if I'm not in maintenance I'm pretty…

According to your diary, you do not wight everything. You are still using spoons for peanut butter & honey, slices for bread, cups for milk (all those can be weighed) quite frankly looking at your diary over 2 weeks I saw very little that was weighed at all. You eat out..that will automatically introduce error in your…

One of the biggest reasons I would think would be losing weight too quickly and never actually learning HOW to eat properly. So people get to their goal weights but now they have to learn how to stay there. This is the biggest reason I encourage people to lose weight in a sustainable way. Losing weight via massive deficits…

Me too! but I also add ketchup AND gravy ;p I do the same with Poutine - can't eat it without Ketchup, vinegar and gravy. Been eating fries like that forever :)

I've lost less than 15 lbs over the past year. In that time I have gone from a size 12 to a 6/8. The scale is not a good indicator of progress. I eat at a tiny deficit, which often ends up at maintenance and lift 3-4 days a week. I'm eating around 2000 calories , more on some days. My body has changed a ton. The pictures…

Most useful post of the morning.

Far less time than having to keep losing it over and over because it came off too quickly and then went right back on :) I have lost only 15 lbs. In the last year but it won't come back! I've dropped 6 sizes in the same time because I lift heavy - the scale is a bad indicator of progress.
-
In terms of what happens on the scale it's virtually the same thing. Adding excersise will improve your overall health but those who are more muscular appear smaller at the same weight as those who lose weight with diet alone. In terms of your goal, you do not have enough weight left to lose to support losing 1lb a week in…

To keep reading the awesome advice! I can't believe I haven't seen this yet! Great Post!

What they said ^^ from your posts I get the impression that you are just going to do what you want regardless of the information that anyone gives you. You've tried it your way 14 other times...what leads you to believe that doing it your way again will result in a different experience this time? You have enough to lose…

Same here except I use Excel to track daily weights as well as estimated TDEE from my fitbit, goal calories, consumed calories, all my macros and also daily steps.
