Yes! The key is to really rinse and drain them well.

I'm vegan, but my fiance/family are not, so we are just having a lot of plant-based food, and some not. Vegan foods we are having: Stuffed Zucchinin rounds with raratouille Mediterranean Display (Trio of hummus, olives, fresh veggies, toasted pita) Spring Harvest Salad with strawberries, Mandarin oranges, almonds and…

You could just eat whole plant foods and not worry about "overdosing", and actually get real nutrition as nature intended :)

Animal product are the only food with Cholesterol (meat, dairy, eggs), so to reduce your Cholesterol, you need to limit your intake of these foods, particularly eggs yolks, red meat, and dairy. Cutting saturated/trans fats would help too, and of course if you are overweight, losing some weight with diet and excirsise. Some…

Try the Herbivore and vegan boards :)

Typically anything low-fat on the list (cheese, mayo etc) just means more sugar and added ingredients. I would try to eat only packaged things that you you know what each and every ingredient is on the list. I'm vegan so... yeah there is a a lot else too! haha

Thanks Kirlia - you read my mind. It's not just the forums!

Trader Joe's High Fiber cereal is really high in fiber, low calorie and low sugar. With vanilla almond milk is pretty delicious!

Yeah, I stopped feeding off the boob when I was an infant. Gross.

There are lots of scientists/dieticians/doctors who perscribe the same diet (and have science that proves animal protien causes cancer). Check out the China Study, PCRM: Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Engine 2 Diet... etc. The documentary Forks Over Knives is also really great.

Yes! I can't believe everyone's comments about the 'weight that you think you look good at". What about a healthy BMI? 160 is still considered very overweight for that height. Tough love. I think diet should be ALL about health, not how you or anyone else wants you to look.

I find that if I want to lose a little weight all I have to do is cut out all oils (including oil for cooking) and processed vegan foods. Hope that helps!

Vegan Age: 27 Height: 5'8" CW: 128 GW: 120...and more in shape! I want abs.

Exactly. Impossible to be over weight even if you didn't excirsise.

I agree with the mashed cauliflower idea! I just made it for the first time last night. Don't ruin a vegetable with butter or cream though - I added a little almond milk and some olive oil and it tasted just like Thanksgiving mashed potatoes. You could add garlic, pepper, even curry powder if you wanted to spice it up!

I haven't had soda in years. My suggestion would be to quit cold turkey. Like everyone else said, do not allow it in your house. Try replacing with flavored water, tea, etc. Even more important - make sure to read, read, read on why it's bad for you! Everytime you are tempted think about the negative implications on your…

Rule all foods out that cause problems - go on a good detox! I honestly don't have a sweet tooth because I never eat sweets, and my body/mind doesn't crave those things anymore. What is that saying - it takes 14 days to make something a habit? Just push through 14 days of not eating before bed and it will get much easier!

Just saw this - Karen's On Greene is my favorite restaurant in this world! It's more upscale. Also love Chicago Diner for a more casual place.

I am around 5'7" - 5'8" and weight around 130 or a little less. I still have belly fat! I would actually like to lose around 5-10lbs to see what it looks like. I am definitely top-heavy, DD chest and thin legs so that may be my issue as well.

Milk isn't a natural source of high potassium, especially the lower fat kind. You can get lots of potassium in naturally in fruits and vegetables, check out this list: http://www.drugs.com/cg/potassium-content-of-foods-list.html
