  • If you are sure the new scale is accurate, I would log it as a loss, or adjust your start weight by a pound. I had to replace my scale, and it was showing me a pound or two heavier then the old one, you are lucky!
  • Avocados and peanut butter!
  • I love Merrells! They are my trail shoe of choice. I usually opt for yoga pants, too....not sure how people can hike in jeans!
  • Yup, I weigh everything. It is most accurate!
  • I would recommend drinking more water. You would be surprised what a difference it makes. Maybe lower your sodium, and make sure you don't go under 1200 calories too often. It is a journey! Good luck!
  • Yup, slow down. Try jogging at 4, and slowly build up your endurance. Should be more of a shuffle, but it preps you to run, later on. I am a slow runner, and proud of it :-) but I can now jog for an hour, compared to those 30 seconds nine months ago. Good luck!
  • You might want to make your food diary public, and maybe ask for recommendations. Are you watching your sodium, sugar, and fat intake? Are you drinking plenty of water? Weight loss is more then just calories and exercise, I am finding. It is a learning process, to find what works for you to lose weight. Good luck!
  • I had to find something I really loved to do. I used to work out at night, around 8:00 pm because that worked for me. I was able to come home, make dinner, and relax for a bit, so I didn't feel rushed. I read an article about running in the morning, and switched things up and tried it, and loved it. Good luck!
  • I personally would say more whole grains :-)
  • Make sure you are drinking enough water, it really helps! Your body needs water to flush itself, and if you don't drink enough, you will actually retain water.
  • I think around twenty pounds..
  • I agree. Go and get fitted at a true running store. Shoes can make or break you as a runner, especially when you are just starting out. Take it slow, and listen to your body. Hydration is important! I always warm up with some walking and stretch at the end of my run, while my muscles are warm. Good luck!
  • It means you are in better shape! Your heart rate isn't getting as elevated as in the past. Congrats!
  • Are you hydrated? I notice that my calves will cramp only when I haven't been drinking enough water.
  • Can you go for a walk on your lunch hour, and eat your lunch during a break? Even if you only did that once a week, in addition to your weekend workouts, that would give you three workouts a week. Good luck!
  • Actually, whoever elevated their heart rate, and kept it up, got the better workout :)
  • Had you wet the sensors on your strap? I had that happen a couple of times, when I didn't prep the sensors before I put it on. Also, are you wearing it all day, or just for cardio? I have read that they are not reliable for monitoring resting heart rate, and can pick up interference from other electronic devices, like…
  • Every day! Somedays I budget for that "big ticket" splurge, others I take the store by storm! LOL!
  • I have a Polar FT4 and I don't even notice the chest strap. They are the most accurate,in all honesty. I had a friend purchase one without the chest strap, and she ended up taking it back, because it was too hard to take a reading while running on the treadmill.
  • Try mustards instead of mayo, or even some avocado. Lettuce, onions, cherry peppers! Today I even took an Amy's cheddar veggie patty, yum!
  • The most important thing I can suggest, is to invest in a good pair of running shoes. I highly recommend going to your local running store (not the big box store) and having your gait and step analyzed. You might need a shoe that offers more support. I discovered I am an over-pronator and need to have shoes that keep me…

  • Just downloaded the Make It Paleo cookbook, looks YUMMY! Thanks for the suggestion!
  • I am in Wasilla! I got some yak-tracs to try out this coming winter. Snow shoeing is a great calorie burner, I think even more then running! Are you military? If so, you can probably rent or borrow from the base to try out. Good luck!
  • I would look for whole grain recipes. Make the calories count!
  • I love the Cook This, Not That recipe books. The whole family enjoys the recipes, and everything I have cooked from them has been easy enough to follow. I also like to use the Taste Of Home website. They have some great recipes, and give all the nutritional info. I get daily emails from them, so I get to see new recipes,…
  • How far under your calorie count are you? Everything I have read indicates that the closer we are to our "ideal" body weight, the more we have to convince our body that there is plenty of nutrition available for it. Otherwise, it won't release that last little bit of body fat. Good luck!
  • You want the chest strap. They are more accurate. The watch only styles that I have seen have a sensor that you have to press and hold, which would mean stopping during your cardio workout to get a reading (at least it would for me, LOL) I had a friend buy one like that and ended up returning it. I have the Polar FT4 and…
  • Natural peanut butter is really good for you!
