Have a look at www.proteinpow.com - Anna has some recipes for non-wheat "breads" on there. HTH

For most of my training, I simply use sugar-free squash. For longer, more intense sessions with lots of sparring I have starting using glucose based sports drinks as I was starting to flag towards the end.

Simply taking in protein won't cause muscle synthesis. So you could still try protein shakes as a calorie source - especially if you blend in some oat flour. From my diary - 2 Scoop ImpactWhey with 1/4C oat flour made with 300ml semi-skim (2%) milk = 500cal approx You could increase or decrease calories by adding coconut…

It's not a myth, but it's not what many seem to think it is either. In a nutshell, for your body to go into "starvation mode" you need a low body fat % so there is less fat available as an energy source. Do yourself a favour an look up the "Minnesota Starvation Experiment" to get some genuine, first-hand, information.

Exercise is a very personal thing... Whatever works for you - works.

I still don't "like" exercise - that's why I had to find something I could see as more than just exercise... The feeling I got from receiving my P2 Krav Maga degree after a 3 hour grading in 30degree heat in Israel was what I like!

No advice here - just my opinion. Why are you embarrassed? By taking control an getting up of the couch and starting to exercise you are taking the first steps toward being healthier. Who cares if right now you can only do the warm-up - it's an awful lot better than doing nothing! Others have offered advice that I would…

Check out the text accompanying this recipe from ProteinPOW! before you start shopping for "Women's" protein... http://www.proteinpow.com/2013/05/protein-pancakes-for-men.html

Honestly? With difficulty! I'm luck in that my Krav Maga club is flexible so I can train any day I'm free but fitting around shifts can be hard as our shifts are all over the place (I'm an ER nurse) - as an example the last couple of weeks looked like this... Mon - Night Tue - Night Wed - Off Thu - University Fri -…

WAAAAAAH! (See above)

Ladies (and boyfriends)- beware of River Island! My GF was on the hunt for a particular style/cut combination (acid wash/ultra pale in bootcut) of jeans and was complaining that she couldn't find them anywhere. Attempting to be the dutiful boyfriend - I kept an eye out whilst shopping and actually found them in RI, so…

Also, prolonged time between sample draw and analysis can cause pseudohyperkalaemia (falsely elevated potassium). If the tourniquet was left on too long the same thing can occur. A difficult draw can cause red cells to get damaged (haemolysis) which will also cause a falsely raised potassium, however most modern labs (at…

I take it you know nothing about the metabolic pathway of ethanol then? Are you not aware that ethanol is metabolised to acetaldehyde in the body (a member of the same chemical family - the aldehydes) with it's own little set of toxic party tricks. You get MUCH more acetaldehyde from ethanol than you do formaldehyde from…

In Emergency Medicine we have FUBAR-BUNDY, FUBAR But Unfortunately Not Dead Yet!

Cheetos are much denser that Wotsits - something more akin to Nik Naks

Oh thank God for that! I can breathe again now

Ah, uffda! My god-parents (MN & IA) taught me that one with the Sven and Ole jokes

NOOOOOOOOO! It should be served at cellar temperature which is about 10-12C

I strongly suggest you track down "Mother Tongue" by Bill Bryson. Great look at the divergent evolution of our shared language.

Ah, but a cup is not always a cup... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cup_(unit) lists 5 different sizes of cup; metric, Imperial, US customary, US legal and Japanese

I find Canadian accents tend to pronounce words like "out" with a longer vowel sound, heading more towards oout. It's a bit like Aussies/Kiwis - ask them to say "fish and chips" - if you "fush and chups" they're Kiwi! As for sayings - Bollocks! is always a good one  As a kid, if I was running in and out of…

That's great UL thanks for that. I recall making a recipe once that started with browning onions and peppers then pureeing - never realised it is the foundation for most recipes :)

I train in Krav Maga 3 times a week as a minimum (Mon, Wed, Sat) plus occasional technical workshops on Fridays. I use a kettlebell routine 3 times a week (Tue, Thu, Sat) and I'm on week 4 of the 100 pushups challenge (Mon, Wed, Fri) Not quite as strength dedicated as NROL or Stronglifts but still involves resistance

You can put the models in here - http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/compare and compare any two you like :-)

A medically normal heart rate is 60-80 beats per minute. However, by definition, at least 10% of the population will fall outside of this range. Level of fitness can have a dramatic effect on resting heart rate, with some elite athletes sitting around the 40bpm mark. From a purely technical standpoint - your heart rate is…

Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder... For me, well defined, athletic musculature (think Jessica Ennis) is hotter that hell :flowerforyou: Whereas the "female bodybuilder" look (just try typing that into a Google image search)... However, I'm sure most of those women have someone in their life that…

Nothing wrong with that! I love humus with falafel - especially Egyptian-style (broad bean) falafels
