Strength Training in Addition to Martial Arts?

This may sound like an odd question and I've asked in a couple of different forums without getting any specific answers.
I lifted for strength on the StrongLifts program for the past year. This program requires lifting three days/week and they highly recommend not doing any activities on days off. I've taken up krav maga and would like to attend classes three days/week, on my non-lifting days. The KM instructors told me to just let them condition me, while the gym where I lift told me that strength training and martial arts don't always go together so well. They both seem to be in agreement that one should be done vs the other.
So, the question I have is - are any of you here whom are actively involved in a martial art also lifting weights? What has your experience been?
Thanks!!

I am curious, why can't the two go together? I am interested in reponses as well! Ty0

I do both, have for years. You just have to learn how to balance the two. You may have a really hard week in MA, so take it light with the weights, and vice-versa. You also may need to take more frequent breaks, or take a break from one for a week. A typical week for me is;
Sunday - Jujitsu, 2 Hours
Monday - Muay Thai, 1 Hour
Tuesday - Lifting (Bench, Row, Press), 45 Min
Wednesday - Rest
Thursday - Muay Thai, 1 Hour
Friday - Jujitsu, 1.5 Hours
Saturday - Lift, (Dead, Squat, Clean) 45 Min
During my 1st MT workout I alternate push ups, chin ups, dips, and abs to failure in-between rounds on the bag. During my 2nd MT workout I alternate Bavarian sandbag, medicine ball, bands, and abs in-between rounds on the bag. I typically do 8 rounds, so that's 2 sets of each exercise to failure.
For lifting weights I do 3X5 for the 1st week, 5X3 for the 2nd week, 6X1 for the 3rd week, and I don't lift at all the 4th week.
So far this has worked for me. But I will be adding swimming back into the mix soon. I haven't swam since last summer so we will see how that goes...0 -
I train in Krav Maga 3 times a week as a minimum (Mon, Wed, Sat) plus occasional technical workshops on Fridays.
I use a kettlebell routine 3 times a week (Tue, Thu, Sat) and I'm on week 4 of the 100 pushups challenge (Mon, Wed, Fri)
Not quite as strength dedicated as NROL or Stronglifts but still involves resistance0 -
I treat martial arts days cardio days and make sure that I get one real rest day in each week.0
