This explains so much! I wondered how the machine was keeping track of my heart rate so well when I wasn't touching it, since it didn't do that before I got my polar f4.

I just posted pretty much something like that a few weeks ago, same exact scenario. Down to the period not showing up. I upped my calories and lost 3 pounds the first week! It was clear that I was not eating enough doing pretty much the exact amount of exercise that you're doing and while I'm the same height I am a little…

Sorry to butt in, but didn't you say in another post that you're on a low calorie diet? I have to say, when I was netting around 600 cals (on 1200 calories and not eating back exercise cals) I lost mine pretty much. I am still having issues when I have been regular all my life and have no reproductive issues whatsoever.

By "benefits" I was referring to the book because the author does mention the increase in bone density specifically in post menopausal women. I don't have the book at hand so I can't recite the study or quote the book but I just read it yesterday. I personally think its logical that lifting heavier than 25 lbs, if you CAN…

I didn't want to go through and quote all the other posts and then forget what I am wanting to say...but if you're looking for information on why women should lift heavy, and the benefits for women who do, I have just picked up New Rules of Lifting for Women and the author is very good at detailing the reasons with loads…

drink water! sounds crazy but i think it works a little like food in that if you have too little, your body will hold on to whatever it gets.

Dont be frustrated. I drink the GNC lean shake as well (lean shake 25) for breakfast only. When I wanted to boost my weight loss I replaced two meals (breakfast and dinner) but I don't do that anymore as I am fairly certain this is not enough calories for me. That said, It is a slow process. It will take time. I have been…

Thats fantastic. Sometimes, paying less attention and just being releases something and you are finally free to be and accomplish exactly what you always wanted!

Well done!

In almost the same boat as you although I am shorter and heavier. I just upped my calories from 1200 last week to what my BMR is (TDEE -20%) and already I feel a lot better. Not as tired or cranky, etc. I still havent been able to actually hit my BMR calories on any day because it is a huge adjustment to eat that much for…

An egg has about 70 mg of sodium. That said, if you are eating the cereal and the milk like you had today, you are going to have more sodium than just having had the egg. I don't purposefully avoid sodium but I do stay low in sodium by eating the least amount of dairy and prepared foods possible. The only dairy I eat is…

I just started drinking about a gallon a day and that helped a lot with the feeling of bloat. It seems to work a little like calories. If you give your body too little, it will hang on to whatever it gets.

This is very encouraging. Thank you for your response!

It should have definitely been a red flag that I lost my period, but I should say it wasn't completely absent. It just became irregular and that was very unusual for me. I had a normal 28 day cycle and all of a sudden I was going 45-50 days, and I was having hot flashes.

Thanks guys, this is all really helpful! I am glad to know that I might not be able to totally trust what my HRM says, since I was going by some people posting pics on instagram with these big burns for training, and thinking maybe I was missing something. For cardio I was going by what the machine says, not what MFP says,…

Thanks for the responses! After I posted this, I rethought about my diet, comparing my intake now to before. Seems certain that I am eating more now than I was, so that may reflect a slower result. The reason I am doing 5-6 meals a day is because I really was under the impression that eating more often, smaller meals would…

I appreciate your feedback! I added those foods in, and use coconut oil in cooking, etc. I think I may have to add in a few more calories, and even maybe something before I work out in the AM and see if that helps. Right now I am doing fasted cardio and fasted weight training.

I should break up with my scale, too. I don't know how I got into the habit of weighing daily. It's become a habit. Time to step off...

This is exactly what I came here to look up. I lost around 70 with eating about 1200 per day since July. Since January I have been exercising more, but didn't really up my calories. I have plateaued since the beginning of March and I am not done losing, I still have some 30 to go before I hit goal. I am terrified to up my…
