I'd say that's a BIG success story! I'm still working on trying not to eat ice cream if someone else is eating it, and I'm a diabetic. What a struggle! Good job!

It's good to eat the amount of basic calories that you are given each day, i.e., I'm on 1200 calories per day. I will lose weight best if I stick close to those 1200 calories each day. If I exercise, then I can choose to eat the extra calories if I wish, but I still need to get to that 1200 calories every day. Anything…

When I was in college, I always took some sort of exercise class. That way it helped with my electives and I got my exercise in too.

I was diagnosed with diabetes about 6 years ago, but I never took it seriously until a few days ago. I've been having trouble getting the blood sugar numbers down and saw an ad for Lantus insulin. I found myself thinking about how I might be on insulin in a couple months. That thought hit me like a brick between the eyes.…

Thanks for the reply! My doctor mentioned I might get nauseated, so I'm starting out low and slow and then building up to a good dose. That's the first I've heard about the food aversions. It will be interesting to see if i works on me that way cuz' I'll eat anything that I don't have to chase across the table. And you are…

You came to the right place. I've really learned about portion control and calories here on My Fitness Pal. Even though I've had to start over because of an episode of severe stress and turning to food for comfort, I'm now on the right track again. This website makes it easy to keep going even if you do make a mistake.…

I thought hard about getting the lap band, even went to a couple lectures at the San Bernardino Hospital. However, some people at my sister's work who got it are putting the weight back on, because they got tired of eating small amounts all day and started eating more by having the band loosened. Whether you get the lap…

Addiction is truly the right word when it comes to food. It calls to me just like cocaine calls to a drug addict and alcohol to an alcoholic. Hi, I'm Sherri T. and I'm a foodaholic. :drinker:

Wow! You look great! You've lost the amount of weight that I want to lose! Thanks for encouraging me and letting me know how good I will look after I lose 60 lbs.!

Oh boy, you sound exactly like me when I found out that I was diabetic. It took a LONG time to adjust to eating healthy and ignoring what other people ate. I really felt sorry for myself for a long time, but when I finally got used to the healthy food, I started looking at the fast food as empty, toxic calories. When I'm…

I know what caregiving stress is too. My 83 y.o. mother's health is failing, and I'm the chosen caregiver in the family. I also have a brain pacemaker for a major depressive disorder, so I understand where your husband is too. What a condrum. Just when I thought I'd be going back to work and getting a social life again, my…

When you are working on weights, you are losing fat while gaining muscle, so don't pay attention to the scale. Pay attention to how your clothes are fitting. You will go down in size first and later weight. Measure yourself at the arm, neck, waist, hips, etc., and keep track of your fitness that way. You'll be surprised at…

Until the competition is over, you get 7 almonds or 9 walnuts. I have always wanted to compete all my life since I have high muscle mass, but I could never take the starving that competitors go through. I could never take hunger period, hence I'm 60 lbs overweight at age 50. Trying to get it off, but going under 1400…

I've seen Zumba commercials on TV, and they do look like fun. I love to dance, so maybe this would be a good workout for me.

I've been wanting to get a kitchen scale to check out the meat, cheese, etc. portions. I guess when I go to Ross again, I'll have to pick one up.

I have been watching the commercials for P90X and I'm still considering ordering it. I would love to be very fit, and I like working on weights. It looks intense, and the Insanity videos look even more intense. Keep us updated on how it all goes!:flowerforyou:

Wow! You look marvelous! You've encouraged me to stick with it, so I can look as good as you in 7.5 months!

I use electronic cigarettes, not because I smoke, I never have, but to give my hands and mouth something to do while I'm at the computer or watching TV. I use non-nicotine liquid and fill my own cartridges. I used videos from Youtube.com to learn what to do. I really like it. You can start with nicotine if you like and cut…

Hi Coastal Breeze, I've been seriously considering the lap band because I'm diabetic. Perhaps you could answer a question or two that I have? Just how bad is the recovery pain? I'm a wuss when it comes to pain. How long did it take for you to start exercising again? I have 50 lbs to lose. I've heard that you can't eat…

I'm there with you. I started eating healthier with this website, and even though it's been only a few weeks, I have a hard time eating junk food now. It all tastes greasy, and it makes me nauseous afterward, like someone punched me in the stomach. It just doesn't look or taste as good as it once did. I guess we CAN…

I'm diabetic, and I checked with my local hospital to see if they had a diabetic program, and they did. I signed up, and my insurance paid for it. I learned how and what to eat and how exercise can be a big help with diabetes. Check with the hospitals in your area to see if they have a similar program. Otherwise, the South…

Yep, Sandra, I know who you are! :drinker: Bummer about the knee replacement surgery. Sheila will eventually have to have it done too. I'm surprised she hasn't had it done already, but she is trying to hold out until the last minute. :flowerforyou:

Thanks for the welcome Amanda. I'm hoping this website will help me as much as it's help everyone else. It seems like a great website! ~Sherri

Thank you for the welcome Lauryn! I do have a wild imagination when it comes to writing. I'll probably bump up my calories to 1400 too. I'll just have to get that exercise done and eat up those extra calories! Sherri

Thank you for your welcome! I'm glad everyone is very supportive here. It's nice to have lots of people on the same journey with me. Sherri
