I am 29, have a desk job and a belly. Want to lose some weight to get to roundabout 180lbs (at 255lbs now). I am a non smoker for two months now (pack a day for thirteen years) so this weight loss is a natural next step. I also started jogging this morning to help with my reaching my goal.

  • welcome to MFP, and congrats on the nonsmoking. Congrats on taking the next step on your healthier living journey. You will find support, motivation, inspiration, and some virtual friendships along the way here on MFP. The people here geuinely care about your success (well from my experience), they will try to give you helpful advice, they will support you in your eating habits, and your weightloss. As for your running there is a great program that alot of the people here are doing C25k and it's a great beginner program.This here is more than a lifestyle change it's like a family outside of your immediate family.     You came to the right place. I've really learned about portion control and calories here on My Fitness Pal. Even though I've had to start over because of an episode of severe stress and turning to food for comfort, I'm now on the right track again. This website makes it easy to keep going even if you do make a mistake.
