Running is hugely mental. I think its something that's never going to go away completely, its just something you're going to have to learn to work through. I agree with try running outside and listening to Pandora comedy station is always a nice distraction for me. Set a goal for either time or distance before you set out…

The surface you run on makes a difference also. I try to avoid running on concrete (sidewalks) and instead run on asphalt (street) which is softer and more forgiving.

I'm always a sucker for a good poop thread  What I've learned is regular means regular FOR YOU. There's no rule that says you should be pooping every day. For me, its more like every 3 or 4 days. But its very consistent. I also eat a lot of fiber and exercise regularly. So as long as you're not uncomfortable, I…

Take the money you're spending on Ensure drinks, and buy some produce, yogurt, chicken, tuna, etc. Ensure is expensive for what it is!

I'm not sure about that. I'll take your word for it though.

I was always one of those people that thought runners were crazy. Nothing about it seemed appealing to me. Well, I started 6 months ago, barely running more than a minute at a time as a way to lose weight. Ended up gradually increasing my mileage and running my first half marathon in November. Now I'm currently training…

You look really great. Good job!

I have to agree with everyone else. If you can do it is debatable. However, you will be MISERABLE by the end. I ran my first in November using a plan that only got me up to 10 miles, and the last 4 miles I pretty much wanted to die. For the race I'm training for now, I'm using a 16 week plan that will get me up to 12,…

You kill it everyday girl, you should be really proud!! Question though, what the hell is a virtual relay??

When I first started working out I would do it first thing in the morning before I ate anything. Then I started to notice that on days that I worked out later in the day (after I ate) I felt MUCH better. Now I can't even imagine working out/running on an empty stomach. HOWEVER make sure you wait at LEAST an hour after you…

I ended up running 6.8. I wanted to get to the halfway point, but didn't want to overly exert myself. Anyone have any other week before tips??
-
So 8 miles should be my long run this weekend?

It sounds to me like a defense mechanism. When people call themselves fat, or make fun of themselves, its a defense mechanism so that they can point out the obvious before someone else does. I agree with you though. Isn't the saying, IF WE CAN'T LOVE OURSELVES HOW WILL ANYONE ELSE LOVE US.

I used to be one of those people, but I had a serious drug problem that took years to overcome. So, there's usually more to the story.

I do, if it stays on for a couple days. But I also only log losses if they stay there for a few days. (Obviously I weigh daily)

I'm 5'10" currently 152, goal is 145 which I changed from 150

I'd rather go hungry than eat those.

ohhh my god.

When do you expect to lose it? If you're trying to lose weight, it has to drop at some point right

You look like a whole new person! What a beautiful family

You look amazing!

Before IMO, just make sure you wait an hour to digest.

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: You're an inspiration. Slow & steady wins the race!! Yes you can lose weight really fast by taking extreme measures in your diet or workout routine, but why would you want to make yourself miserable if you can achieve the same results with a more sensible approach. I didn't think that way when…

If you have to ask if your jeans fit, they probably don't. Sorry but its true!

I'm doing my first half marathon Nov. 11 and I'm planning on running/walking alternating miles, doing this my pace has averaged out to be 13/mi. I am following Hal Hingdon's training schedule so I did 7 miles today. Lots of good info here, thanks!

I love this! Every time I see someone running when I'm in my car I get jealous.
-
I have the same problem. I feel like my stomach looks bigger now because everything else has gotten smaller. SO annoying!

Rude. You don't need to tell an overweight person that they're overweight. They know. You don't need to tell an overweight person that its impacting their health. They feel it everyday.

You can always use Diet tonic. I always drank vodka tonics, but now on the RARE occasion that I drink, I swap the tonic out for club (0 calories). I don't know if its good with gin, though.

I don't think "starvation mode" is real, but I do know that I plateaued after eating to low calories and didn't start losing again until I increased them.
