I struggle with weekends too. The structure at work--break times and lunch times--and then not getting home until almost 6PM, makes it easy to stay within calorie limits. I have firmly scheduled my workouts during the week, but the weekend is fluid and getting exercise in is less certain.

Great news! I hope to cross into one-derland fairly soon myself, but it is a ways away!

You can add me. I live in SE Mn, Zumbrota to be exact.

The BMI chart is based on averages. I think it's pretty accurate, but there are exceptions. Look at the pro athletes height and weight and according to the charts, many of them would be overweight or obese including middle infielders and safeties (I mixed my sports there). I recently was evaluated in a "bod pod" which…

Hoping to follow you in a few weeks!

I'm 58 and I've lost 50 pounds in three months. I have really changed what I'm eating and I have stepped up my exercise, I think the secret weapon for me is that I do move around a lot at work.

Great job, Matt. I just made 50 in about three months. I have plenty left to lose, but many things have already changed dramatically.

I just had a full fitness evaluation today. While my cardio scores are acceptable, especially for someone that still falls in the "obese" category for BMI, my strength scores were very low. My evaluator pointed out to me that those of us over fifty are more in danger from lack of strength than we are for cardiovascular…

While it is entertaining to read the message boards, the real key to success is logging the food intake. I try to record everything and I think I do a decent job. I like to stay under my goal every day, but rather than omitting something I try to come up with enough exercise to keep me below plan. Most of the time I don't…

Yup, almost everybody lies! I have been trying to come up with a motivator for every 10-pound weight loss increment and my 40 pound motivator was going to be "I'm not lying on my Driver's License". I was within a couple of pounds when I lost my wallet, including my DL, so I had to go to the DMV and get a duplicate. The…

I am going to have a health assessment at my work's Healthy Living Center. I have had this done before. Step One is a few minutes in the "Bod Pod" which is supposed to give an accurate view of your body (and body fat), then the oxygen tests on the treadmill followed by strength and flexibility tests. Of course, after…

1) I had always been the least fat member of my immediate family. My older brother had successful bariatric surgery and lost over 100 pounds. My younger brother died in an accident and my parents also passed away. Suddenly, I was the only fat one and certainly more overweight than my surviving brother. 2) One of my…

I have had plantar fachiitis and it is painful and take a long time to heal. My doc told me to stretch the affected area and warned that it would take time. It feels like stepping on a stone over and over again.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago. I want to lose a bit more weight and then see if my condition has improved.

58 and I've been on MFP for just over 10 weeks. I've lost 44 lb. with a short-term goal of 60 and a long term goal of 40 more. Feel free to friend me.
-
I'm not finished in my journey by a long shot, but I have lost 44 pounds in about 10 weeks. I think it is pretty dramatic and I've handled the experience without bouts of hunger or any major setbacks. BTW, I'm 58.

I am acquiring a taste for Greek Yogurt. I like black cherry, peach, blueberry, strawberry and raspberry. I also have a couple of hard-boiled eggs every AM with a cup of coffee.

We're on similar courses. I started at 280 and I'm at 236. 230 will be the halfway point for me.

Ten minutes on the bike, four separate weights, and then a shortened round of golf.

The site has helped. The most help, to me, is logging the food and getting an accurate calorie count. I mostly read the message boards for entertainment from like-minded people.

"it is what it is".

OK. I've lost weight quickly 40 lb in less than 10 weeks. I haven't had super low calorie counts for many days. I have exercised more than I have, but mostly the exercise has been consistent (exercising 5-6 days per week). I haven't felt more hungry, in fact I've had few cravings, but have had a couple episodes when I…

I'm 58, officially I've shrunk to 5"9.25" and I'm male. I think my ideal weight is 180, fully dressed, but without shoes.

Funny, that is one of my all-time all-time favorites. My wife and two of my adult daughters are "brown-eyed girls" so that also adds to that song for me. Besides that, I had a special bonding moment with my youngest while the song was being sung. Back on topic, almost any country song with the word "tractor" or "pick-up…

My "aha moment" was when my doctor suggested bariatric surgery. He also noted that my blood sugar and tri-glycerides were elevated. My blood level was in right on the cusp of diabetes. Also, my mother passed away and I looked at a lot of photos, some with me heavy and some with me much lighter. The really fat guy was not…

Age 58. Lost 40 pound from weigh-in two months ago. I think the number is closer to 50 from my top weight. I have lost 40 pounds in two months. I admit part of what I am doing is not sustainable. I have gone very bland and low calorie on normal days. I have exercised almost every single day and also I think I am…

My favorite golf club. I may be a bit of a golf nut.

My "silver bullet" has been fruits. They seem to help me. Also I have eaten more broccoli since starting with MFP. The combination has worked well enough.

I think the first mistake is to emphasize the end goal. 100 pounds sounds like an enormous total (and it is), it might be best to break that goal down to (pardon the food reference) "bite sized pieces". Go ten pounds or maybe 20 at a time. Secondly, you will probably need to eat better and better as you lose weight and…

I have planned something for each 10 lb.increment. Something to mark it with and to remember it by. For example when I got under 250, I remarked that I was closer to 200 than 300. I guess 250 is the number I don't want to repeat, but I don't want to gain weight again.
