No. I ran marathons for several years only doing 3 mi daily runs during the week and longer runs on weekends. I ran 12 marathons in 2004 and only ran 3 miles on Tues, Wed, Thur, then did LONG runs on sat and 7-10 on sun.

I am sure that I am very atypical. All I have for breakfast is one cup of coffee with 4 tbsp of heavy cream, which is 200 cal.

Its definitely possible that you are restricting your calories too much. I am no expert, but I can share my experience. I started MFP 6 weeks ago and have lost 21 lbs. My calorie goal is 1800 and I have been eating about 100-200 less than that everyday. If I exercise, I usually eat more and always try to end up a few…

Ab exercises will make your abs stronger, but there is no such thing as spot reduction. Cardio burns fat, which comes off of different areas of the body unique to each person. Some people lose belly fat last (usually men) and some people lose hip/butt fat last (usually women). And some people's bodies lose fat last in some…

If I work out in the early morning, I usually don't eat before. I try to eat something fairly substantial the night before. If I workout in the evening, I try not to eat about 2 hrs before. As far as eating after, my understanding is that eating as soon after exercise as possible helps utilize the food for recovery.

>> How tall are you? I am 5'11" and currently 187 lbs. Started at 205lbs.

I agree. I just started MFP 5 weeks ago and have lost 17 lbs on 1800 cal/day. I have totally NOT deprived myself. I have eaten BBQ, Tex Mex, cookies, and lots of other "non-diet" foods. The biggest thing I realized about my diet after using MFP is what kinds of foods have lots of calories and how to limit portion size when…

I hope you get as much out of the site and app as I have. It makes things so simple: enter all your food and exercise, and stay under your calorie goal. Do that, and you WILL lose weight. I've been very surprised with how much weight I have lost simply by staying under my calorie goal no matter what. If I go over a little…

Hard to say. There are a lot of variables: height, weight, age, metabolism, exercise, etc. I am 5'11" and weigh 195 and workout for 30 min per day. My daily calorie count is 1810. I've noticed that if I eat smaller portions more frequently, I am still slightly hungry when I stop eating, but then no longer hunger about 15…

I am **SURE** this is not healthy, not recommended, and bound to cause people to disagree, but I put 4 tbsp of heavy cream and 3 tbsp of raw cane sugar in about 10oz of coffee every morning. The cream is about 200 calories and the sugar is about 135 calories. By comparison, the IHOP healthy tomato and spinach omelette has…
