...they should stop! (Enjoy your running!)

No, not nice at all, and furthermore...

Those people replying twice are not nice!!

Reply of the week :-)

Porridge + banana = unstoppable running machine.

Took me about 3 or 4 weeks to see the numbers change, don't fret about it and it will happen.

Facebook pictures are hardly a reflection of what people actually look like! Usually too bright, compressed, blurry, badly shot with an inappropriate wide angle lens to get everyone in. Don't look to them as a measure of success.

Timing is important : speak about this while your parents are planning or buying the food, not when it's cooked and put down in front of you! Get more involved in the whole process and politely show them what you know and how seriously you take it.

Fantastic! (Is the collapsed guy behind you having to phone his own ambulance?)

I have started doing hill sprints on a Friday - a jog to warm up then 30 secs uphill as fast as I can. Walk back down and repeat. By the 3rd time I am really feeling it, and only manage 5 runs before calling it a day! The whole thing can last as little as 10 minutes. As a comparison I run for 1hr 30mins each Sunday. The…

That about sums it up - if I waited for ideal conditions to run I'd never go out! So I learned to love the conditions I get :-)

"Me too! Putting away leftovers is a minefield for me!" Part of your retraining needs to be making the right amount of food to avoid leftovers in the first place! Saves money too...

Colder the better for this Scotsman :-)

Food?

Well...he loves you and is going to marry you the way you are right now. Make sure he recognises you on your wedding day :-)

Agreed!

That's my danger time too - if my wife goes to bed before me it suddenly becomes "calories don't count" time and I sneak some toast. What can be done? Eat the right thing for dinner to fill up properly and don't keep snacks in the house?

Brilliant! Hall marathons are my favourite distance - long enough to be a real challenge but not life-consuming like a full marathon! Do more!

"No, kids. No we can't."

This makes you faster...

Hill sprints - set your watch to countdown 30 secs, find a hill and sprint up it until the timer goes off. Jog back down. Repeat...4? 6 times? How far can you get each time?

There were 4 guys, friends, helping each other workout the other night. I swear I have seen teenage girls in McDonalds check their phones less than these guys were. Between the four of them it was easily 10% exercise and 90% phone.

I just turned down bacon! Not because I didn't want it but because of the white rolls that it comes in - too many calories for nothing :-( Hmmm, maybe I could just eat handfuls of bacon...

I think this sums it up. Take the long term view; they talk about making changes which lasts a lifetime and you can't NEVER have another single big meal. Just remember to keep it as the exception, not the norm.

Great story and amazing pics - well done you!

You look fab, but I am more excited to meet another grapher! Watching the line go down is very satisfying!!
-
Love this story  You sound like you have a brilliant, positive attitude - good luck with your progress!

Get some sleep! Once you're there the race day buzz will take over. I've done a few halls now and it's a brilliant challenge. Don't take off too quickly and enjoy the atmosphere. Good luck!

Aha, working the other way round!
