  • Hope you all had a great weekend! My weigh-in for the week: 216.6. Yay!
  • Congrats on all of the losses so far! Pam, Niagara Falls sounds like fun! Weigh-in for the week: Starting weight: 225.8 07/23/11: 221.8 08/01/11: 221.2 08/08/11: 218.6 08/15/11: 219.4 08/22/11: 218.8 08/29/11: 216.6
  • Okay, first of all this weekend was SO MUCH FUN!! The bf & I went hiking at a park we love on Saturday and spend the whole day outside..I burned over 1400 calories and had the best time! Also a couple of great NSVs too: We hiked a trail that we'd hiked last year and I felt like I was going to die doing it back then (the bf…
  • Quick post for my weigh-in this week: 216.6. YAY!! I've been sneaking peeks of the scale after weigh-in day though and it hasn't been good...I haven't been drinking nearly as much water and my muscles are sore, so I knew it wouldn't be as good...ugh, hate that. Gotta stop peeking. I'll respond properly about other stuff…
  • Try one of those free online calorie calculators to see how many calories you should be eating (like this one: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm) and go from there. You might be surprised -- it's possible you're eating too few calories! I had to bump my calories way up before I saw any progress,…
  • Still no time for a long response! Auuugggghhh, crazy work week. Just wanted to say that you all look FANTASTIC!! Seeing your pictures is huge motivation. You all kick some serious butt.
  • I'm a little behind at work so I still don't have time to catch up with everyone (still, I'm sorry!), but thanks for all the advice about the calories and working out. Funny, I never thought of eating less and exercising as two different things to do for two different reasons, but that makes a lot of sense. Amy, are you…
  • I like to break my workouts up like that too, one in the morning and one at night. That helps me get more done. Be careful on the food thing....a general recommendation for women trying to lose weight is to make sure to eat at least 1200 calories if you're not exercising at all, but more than that if you are exercising. If…
  • Do you use a heart rate monitor? I know that before I had one and I used MFP's estimation for calories burned that it was always way too high. MFP had said I was burning 700 - 800 calories or more when I jog for 40 minutes, but once I got a heart rate monitor it showed me that I was really only burning about 400 calories.…
  • Congrats on all of the losses! Yesterday I ate 2035 calories and exercised 322 calories, so my net was 1713. According to all of the "how many calories should I eat to lose weight" calculators I've tried (like this one: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm), I'm supposed to try to eat 1700 - 1800…
  • Onederland already? Wow, congrats! Great job to you too, Pam, on your 37 pounds! Closer and closer to onederland for you! Yesterday I ate 2035 calories and exercised 322 calories, so my net was 1713. According to all of the "how many calories should I eat to lose weight" calculators I've tried (like this one:…
  • Okay, I promise to catch up with everyone as soon as I have a free moment to do something other than lurk, but I just wanted to post quickly and say HOLY COW, Nava, that would be AWESOME!!!! London is my most favorite city that I've ever visited (so far). I'm crossing and double crossing my fingers for you!!
  • What has your sodium intake been like? I know if I go too much over 2300mg and don't drink enough water, I can forget about seeing a loss on the scale. My body likes to hang on to that water weight. Also, it might sound counter intuative, but make sure you're eating enough calories. I had my calories set at 1400 and it was…
  • I lost my FT4 strap and bought a new one at the same place I bought my monitor: http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/ They have free shipping and it's super fast. Here's the link to the strap with the transmitter: http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/polar-wearlink.html Or if you have the transmitter and need just the strap:…
  • I agree about the protein -- I always feel fuller for longer if I have more of it. Also, make sure you're eating enough calories. It sounds counter intuitive, but if you eat too few calories your weight loss will stall and you will definitely be hungry. I have about 70 pounds to lose, and if I go too much under 1800 cal…
  • Weigh in for the week: 218.8. Have I mentioned that I hate TOM weight?
  • Starting weight: 225.8 07/23/11: 221.8 08/01/11: 221.2 08/08/11: 218.6 08/15/11: 219.4 08/22/11: 218.8 Can I just say how frustrating it is to gain weight during TOM and then have to lose the TOM weight again before you can start losing real weight? Ugh. It happens to me every month, but I still hate it!
  • Good morning! I'll catch up with you all a bit later, but really quickly, here's my weigh in for the week: 218.8 Can I just say how frustrating it is to gain during TOM and then have to lose that TOM weight back before you can work on losing actual weight? It happens to me every month so I should be used to it by now, but…
  • It definitely makes a difference for me! I've noticed that if my sodium goes too much over 2,300 mg I can forget about seeing a loss on the scale, regardless of how much water I've had, how my food has been, or how much I exercised.
  • From what I remember they taste good! I read 'In Defense of Food' and just can't bring myself to eat the processed stuff anymore. Especially since the real stuff tastes so much better! Nothing like full-fat ice cream. I treat myself to 1/2 cup of Haagen Dazs Five ice cream when I have the calories available...smooth,…
  • Lacey, there is actually bakery near us that makes this amazing pizza....they handmake the dough (we get a delicious wheat crust), and all of their ingrediants are fresh and local. My favorite pizza they make is called the Sonoma -- sun-dried tomato pesto sauce, fresh goat cheese, caramelized onions, fresh basil, and yummy…
  • I've got that excited "It's FRIDAY!!!!" feeling today! Woohoo! Spending the day in Pittsburgh tomorrow, going to "The Strip" which is an area with an indoor farmer's market and lots of outdoor shops selling everything from freshly baked biscotti to every piece of Steelers paraphernalia you could hope to find. I'm going to…
  • Wow, that's a great loss for one week for this group! Way to go, everyone!!
  • "Russian Twists" make me think of some sort of yummy, creamy alcoholic beverage....oh wait, that's a White Russian. Way more fun than a Russian Twist.
  • Oh no, I've been lurking for two days and now not only am I behind, but there's a new thread! This thing moves FAST! I got my ideeli dress yesterday, the one that is a size 14 so I can't wear it yet. BUT, as it turns out it's a stretchy kind of material so I could actually wear it, except that it's a little too snug on the…
  • I love it!! I also hate it when I get a hiking book that says a hike is "easy" and I nearly die. :grumble: Hiking is one of my favorite things ever though! Your pictures are beautiful!
  • Nothing is off limits! I know that if I tell myself I can "never" have something again, that will make me want it even more. I also know that I can have anything I want and still remain within my calories for the day, or I can choose to go off my calories one day and that won't do me in for good either. It's all about a…
  • I've got a big time case of the Mondays today. No motivation to work, and no motivation to drink the 50 million gallons of water I should be drinking today to flush out a weekend of sodium either. Plus TOM will be here any moment, so I'm all cranky too. Hope you all are enjoying your Monday more than I am. Megan,…
  • Starting weight: 225.8 07/23/11: 221.8 08/01/11: 221.2 08/08/11: 218.6 08/15/11: 219.4 That's a gain, booooo. I expected it though. A high sodium, high sugar weekend combined with TOM is a baaaaaad combination. Here's to next week!
  • Okey dokey, Monday weigh-in: 219.4 That's a gain, not a loss. Boo! I didn't expect anything else though. High sodium and high sugar weekend combined with TOM is a baaaaaaad combination.
