As an overweight child I blame my mom for larger portions and rewarding everything with "treats". Also her denial that I was overweight. I am neither husy nor big boned, my frame is actually quite petite, but this was my mom's insistence all through my youth. I did not form good habits. As an adult tho, that's all me,…

Eating more calories than you burn makes you gain weight. So if you have to chase that coffee with a box of donuts then yes it can, otherwise no :expressionless:

This is something I am looking into because my bloodworkshowed prediabietic. Right now the focus is on getting away from that prediabetes range with healthy diet and excercise to avoid medication. When I was healthier my insulin worked fine. So definitely something i have in mind. Thank you :)

MFP has me at 1740 and during the week i usually hit within +/- 100 and on weekends i seem to be a bit over. i probabaly would say avg 1850ish.
-
I do appreciate it. I did take a look to make sure but I am always +/- 5g of the fat goal :)

While I don't disagree with what's said, we all see the same things on here: "i can't lose weight because..." "i can't even manage to eat 1200 calories. help me!" ETA: For every post related to the above issues there will be 50% witty, enlightened and vocal "get over its" and 40% wishy wash "you can do its" and 10% fairly…

millermkarate - Electrolytes were fine in the bloodwork, but i am mindful of it because of a dehydration fainting issue at the gym 2 years ago :) Lizzy - I don't really try to save them, busy work day means quick lunches and stuff that is easily grab and go, whereas dinner is always far more complex. I do realize i should…

My doctor is putting me on b12 asap. I was on a daily 1000mcg b12, but I have a medical condition that doesn't allow for proper nutrient absorption during flares, so sometimes I do run deficient. I am hoping to feel improvement SOON!
-
B12 was 111 picomol/L - i could do the conversion but it's too much math for 10am, lol 107-111pmol is borderline with under 107 being deficient. So close. I'm going to be starting b12 injections again to get the level up

Thank you for the input thus far. Futuresize8 - I'm terrible at rememebering to log my water count, but always drink 3 17 oz water bottles full at work plus green tea and other fluids. On weekends i'm less good with hydration. i will try to log my water more consistently as I go to make sure I'm hitting the targets.…

you didn't eat enough. Eat up to what it says your goal is and you will be able to close your diary. Eating to little can actually hinder your efforts and can't feel too great either. ETA: On busy days keep some natural almonds handy. A handful will give you a good dose of nutrients and up your calories. Also you cankeep…

I also asked the doctor if more low carb might benefit how i feel and he said he didn't think so but offered me a card for a dietician.

Something along those lines could be true. I generally eat a bit lighter in the day and have a larger dinner. Breakfast/lunch might average 350 calories and then dinner is a bit larger, altho sometimes i get hungry and have a mid morning snack. Maybe if i balance things out a bit better. Perhaps maybe eating so heavily for…

I eased into it. First i tried to casually eat better and log. Then i moved on to really making those calories count and eating nutritious foods. Now, eating wise I'm moving on to weighing everything and cleaning up my diary. Throughout I was getting myself moving a little more. Parking further from entrances. Taking…

my old standby is ww english muffin 1 large egg ('fried' in a bit of pam) and a side of some kind of mix of fruit and coffee or more recently, green tea. This holds me from 7:30am until 11:30ish when i have a small snack to push me through to lunch at 1. I eat the same thing, but it works! On occassion when i don't have…

Eating mild white fish (Basa mainly) is very tasty. I used to avoid fish like the plague. I also ate cantoloupe for the first time, willingly. I used to avoid it because it smelled like rotting death. Baked tofu is now delicious and i actually crave it sometimes. I love the texture of Quinoa! Melwoodard: So it's not just…

i push it and like to go back periodically and see if my "in 5 wks" was accurate, but ultimately it means nothing. I do enjoy the pat on the back for a job well done tho! lol

I face similar problems weekly. Pharmacy reps bring us lunch weekly and it's always hard to tell. Luckily for me it usually includes salad as one of the dishes so i load up on that and then have whatever meat is there and usually skip the rice. I also bring lots of low cal snacks like water veggies to snack on if i'm a lil…

I'm set to start on Monday. Here's to hoping it goes well!

1/2c cottage cheese (or greek yogurt would work to if u prefer) with a tsp of pure honey and a pinch of cinnamon - had this for a snack last night with a green apple and it was so tasty!

I encounter this. Someone is always bringing in muffins or donuts or chocolates and we have catered lunches up to 6 times a month sometimes. The snacks I can politely decline, several times in a row, but the lunchs it's considered rude to not participate. Thankfully all the lunches usually include some kind of salad, so i…

I felt similar, but then I came to t he conclusion that i was making excuses. I too have fairly severe asthma, but if i am diligent with my meds it can be controlled. I am 292 lbs and am about to start c25k on Monday after a week or so of walking intervals. After seeing how i did walking i feel i'm ready to kick it up a…

Just a thought Since you say it's prepackaged food, some of the problem might be from water retention from all the sodium in prepared foods in addition to what has been mentioned here already.

Cauliflower is delicious, but don't expect it to be mashed potatos or rice :P Pulsing it into rice pellets is a good idea to mentally "trick" yourself, much like "spaghetti" squash or "zoodles", the latter being gag worthy, but ultimately a rose by any other name is still a rose :P Eat some good hearty brown rice, quinoa…

I don't see an issue with this, as long as calories out exceed calories in you will lose. My only concern for youwould be creating too large of a deficit and undereating. You also want to be using something accurate to track calories burned. You also didn't mention if you are eating what I would term "healthy calories" or…

I already have a couple of dri fit tees i wear, but still cotton loose fitting capri. i may look into the socks since i have plain old regular socks and last time i ran hot spots was an issue. a better sports bra is probably something i'd invest in! Thanks for the info. i was feeling slightly intimidated, but i think…

Super credit. I NEVER could have tossed cheesecake. Awesome!

I love to cook and am having a lot of luck making healthier meals! Feel free to friend me!

So funny I was considering posing this exact same question. I'm coming to the conclusion it might just be mind over matter. Ofc i also have an irrational fear of the gym which isn't helpful at 5am. I have tried setting clothes out at night and preparing my meals and such for the day the night before, but all that seems to…
