Born in upstate NY, now living in the UK. York being the farthest I've travelled from where I was born.

It's hard to say... A lot of workouts are really hard, but get easier as you do them more. I think pole has been the most challenging for me. I'm not gargling my heart or anything like that, but it's really bloody painful (I'm talking bruises, broken skin, and blisters painful) and you can struggle for a long, long time…

I was about 370 lbs when I started losing weight. I started out by getting a secondhand Wii on Ebay and doing fitness games. I couldn't use the balance board at first because I was too heavy, but it's not necessary for all of the games. I moved from the Wii to workout DVDs after a while.

The Jawbone Up 3 hasn't been released yet, but users of existing Jawbone bands can probably weigh in. I think I'll buy the Up 3 when it comes out! :)

You lose weight when you burn more calories than you eat. You're burning WAY more than you eat. It's very unlikely that you'll be able to sustain your diet, first of all. Second, it's very unlikely you're getting the nutrients to keep you healthy while eating so little. Honestly, you need to be eating more. I eat more than…

I think your bigger worry should be how you can eat more.
-
Wait, why are you eating only 872 calories daily? Is that what you meant to say?

*bash*

Why is it important to you? My husband and I have our own interests, and this is no different, really. I do my stuff, he does his. I do all the cooking, and just has to go with it.

I drink mainly water, but I also drink a fair bit of tea and coffee. Occasionally I'll have a Coke Zero or sparkling water with Ribena :)

Get back on that horse, girlie! :)

Yes, yes it is. Except the York... Gross.

Yep, lots. I've done the strength training thing, I've lost weight slowly - I think there just comes a point where you can't avoid loose skin. At my highest ever weight I was about 400 lbs. My 176 lb current self is not going to look the same in that "packaging". I'm not a fan of the loose skin, but I wouldn't trade it for…

I listen to my body and eat a bit more.

I've lost about 20 lbs more than my body weight. It's definitely doable, just be ready for a long journey! You can do this :)
-
I'm really just glad I'm not a picky eater. Too much good food to enjoy out there! :)

She's a vapid, awful person, but if you hear that garbage and think it's legit health advice, it's a case of reaping what you sow, tbh.

I've lost most of my weight using workout DVDs. I suggest getting your hands on a few more, and then doing the workouts you want to, when you want to. I've never followed a program beginning to end - I know I'd get bored. I like to have different ones on hand to switch it up some! :)

Weight loss doesn't necessarily mean fat loss. To lose 1 lb of fat you need to burn 3500 more than your body uses, but you may lose 1 lb of water weight, or after going to the bathroom, or if you weigh on an empty stomach.

As much as I can logically understand my indulging, and KNOW that I balance it out over the week, I do feel guilty. A friend of mine gave me some useful perspective on this - She said the guilty feeling may just be my body expressing a preference for my regular, healthier diet over the "naughty" weekend food. I really like…

Hell no. I eat bread and pasta several times a week, and just made a big batch of sweet potato muffins. Weight loss is about calories, not bread, pasta, or muffins.

Yes. Physical attraction IS an important aspect of a relationship, but it may have nothing at all to do with a person's appearance. I mean, blind people experience physical attraction, so...

Top tip: Avoid anything called The __________ Diet.

I think it was meant as a compliment, but it wasn't thought through, and would definitely rub me the wrong way. I would have thanked her and taken the opportunity to politely educate her on the many fat athletes out there, and how "fat" and "fit" are not mutually exclusive.

I have a friend who did the HCG thing. I can't take anything he says in regards to diet and exercise seriously now.

I'll encourage people to stay on the wagon, and meet their goals, and stay motivated and blahdy blah blah, and I'll offer advice when I'm asked for it, but it's not my job to police their diets. I tend to not comment on food diary stuff anyway unless the person has commented themselves asking for input.

Back when I logged my calories, I did it over the week instead of day to day. I'd just log each day accurately and honestly and track it in an Excel spreadsheet to get my weekly average.

My main goal in life is to find a secret, never-used bathroom at work, like George Costanza's.

Well, in American it would be "zucchini". "Courgette" is a French loan word, but it's the common term in the UK (where they speak mainly English).

Ugh, I don't know. Pole classes are always in the evening, so that's easy. But I just started a 9-5 job that's not necessarily 9-5 - on any given day I could *potentially* start much earlier and end much later. With an hour and a bit commute on either side of my day. I'm kind of praising myself for just getting out of bed…
