  • I suffered with IBS for most of my life until i started eating 7-10 portions of vegetables a day and exercising as much as I could handle (slowly increasing volume/intensity) while maintaining high water intake. I've been symptom free for over a year now.
  • I just wanted to say that your profile pic made my morning. Love it
  • By the way I feel. Healthy eating and exercise make my life a better place on a daily basis, losing weight makes my life better in the long run... put those 2 together and you've got what I want lol
  • Eating fructose with fiber helps to remove some of the crappy effects of sugar so I wouldn't worry too much, just don't go overboard with fruit... or anything for that matter. Eat a balanced diet.
  • Structured exercise plans like C25K will give your workouts a much needed boost if you're into that sort of thing; however, when starting any plan you should be prepared to deal with failure and have a plan of action to overcome it. Don't worry about what the average/norm is, just concentrate on bettering yourself over…
  • Cut them up and use them as rags for the car and house
  • Carbs give you an appetite; other than that to excess, no it's not normal
  • Resisting the temptation to be mean... I'll just say no
  • You should hear some of the rubbish that I hear leaving female lips  Here's the bottom line, some PEOPLE are idiots.
  • Ok this will sound backwards but bear with it. The more water you drink, the less your body will hold onto. Dehydration causes water retention, so does exercise, salt, and carbs/sugar, all of which you've had. Drink lots of water and weigh yourself in the morning after you take a pee
  • I tried to read the rest of the post but all I could see was someone who thinks they just put on 2,2lbs... if it hadn't happened (and probably didn't) then you wouldn't be beating yourself up. The extra water will dissapate over the next 3-4 days. Edit: ok i saw the end... you're exercising and that's great but your…
  • if you really put on 2.2lbs in weight over a weekend then I'm impressed, 2.2 * 3500 = 7700 calories on top of your normal daily intake of a guess-timated 2000 is nearly 6k calories per day... i find that hard to believe but i guess it's possible. More likely is that your body has stored some extra water from the carbs and…
  • If you're getting your nutrients then don't worry about it. Calories matter when it comes to weight. Arguably fat is a cleaner burning fuel source than carbs but carbs are generally considered better for intensive exercise so do whatever fits your lifestyle. As was said previously, fat isn't bad and wont make you fat...…
  • I used to believe that being sensitive was my greatest weakness. Ironically the pain and anguish that came from open eyes has taught me strength. Strength is a reaction, if you don't need it then you'll never have it. You've taken the first step, the decicion to admit weakness, now dust yourself off and start fighting.

  • Someone told me that if I lost the stone I wanted to lose then I'd look gaunt... how rude. I'm actually more than a stone overweight so I seriously doubt that :explode:
  • Training Effects Because cortisol is released in response to stress, exercise training will increase the threshold of cortisol release. For example, if you begin an exercise program walking at a 20-minutes per mile pace, cortisol will be released at that intensity. However, as your training progresses and you begin walking…
  • I have to agree with them, some days you're not netting enough to get decent nutrients into your body even if you solely ate vegetables and meat. Add to that your love for something sweet and you've got a minor issue. Losing excessive LBM while dieting is nonsensical to me, I guess we're all different. It's all just…
  • All sounds a bit homeopathic to me. I knew a girl who was convinced that wearing a crystal around her neck helped her body, I think she was pagan.
  • This is the most common question asked by people on a low fat diet... add healthy fats
  • Too much of anything is bad for you
  • The sugar in fruit is fructose. It doesn't even trigger an insulin reaction so it wont make you feel full like other carbs... very easy to over eat.
  • Weight loss doesn't stop because you're not eating enough... that would be a cure for world hunger. It slows down so you need to eat less again or take a break from it
  • Just use trial and error. Use MFP, if you lose too fast then eat more, if you lose too slowly then eat less. So many people get tied up with the ESTIMATIONS made that they forget the basics
  • I've personally had great success in the past by simply cutting out REFINED carbs. Get rid of added sugar and processed grains... you'll find that makes the biggest difference.
