  • In C25k, you are building strength AND endurance. The program is more than just cardio conditioning. Skipping days can increase your risk for injury. Don't skip the day. Enjoy it!
  • Map My Run has recently updated in the past few weeks (iOS), and the calorie counts are now very similar to my Polar HRM reading. (This was not the case prior to the big update. Before the update, MapMyRun's calories burned was way less than my HRM) Do you regularly update your weight in the MapMyRun app? It will be more…
  • I feel like I'm dying in the higher zones, so I use HRM to let me know when I need to ease up/slow down. No comment in regards to the "fat burning" element. I'm just trying to survive at this point, and the fat is melting away.
  • You are so awesome!
  • Living life without TV is more of a preference in how we choose to live our lives than it is to imply that others are wrong for having regular TV in their lives. I don't have time to care about what other people do, to be honest. TV is very limited in my house. The kids are very active in sports, so that keeps us…
  • My 5 year old is thrilled. I am concerned about new movies... Star Tours (Hollywood Studios) is one of our favorite Disney attractions, and I would be excited more Star Wars related attractions at Disney parks.
  • nuts & seeds - almonds, pistachios, sunflower seeds, and lately pumpkin seeds
  • bacon (in moderation), eggs, greek yogurt, cheese
  • valid point
  • Most people are well aware of their hypocrisy, and this type of hypocrisy can be seen across the board regardless of profession.
  • there's an update today with new race missions (not a new season) http://blog.zombiesrungame.com/post/34235625507/race-missions-coming-to-zombies-run
  • Panera: Pick two - 1/2 bacon turkey bravo, 1/2 french onion soup, fuji apple About 600 cals, not low cal but nothing I'd call "notoriously high cal" either...I am easily able to fit it in my calorie budget. Pass on Subway, but in a pinch I'd go for a no frills 6" turkey.
  • water Shiatzu Foot Massager by Sharper Image (from Amazon) iphone (music & running apps) & earbuds Polar HRM my Brooks

  • and ice. Of course, the old hat advice of a good pair of running shoes from a running store where they analyze your gait fits here as well. If you haven't already, it's time.
  • offer to cook a side dish at Thanksgiving that way you know something will be "safe", and offer to cook dinner a night or two while you're there as well...portion control and try to stay active and you'll do fine. Have fun and don't be snooty about other people's food choices. Also, It's possible that your previous 7lb…
  • Thank you for this. It felt so wrong to aimlessly allocate my spoils, and I noticed that sections do not get built up as quickly if they are out of place. I wish they gave more guidelines regarding this.
  • Great luck to you! Congrats on your hefty fundraising! You are doing great things. A new lifestyle means new experiences. I'm sure you'll amaze yourselves. My first 5k is tomorrow as well. I just completed C25k last week, but I am still slow and struggling. My husband is at the end of week 5. Since the 5k is to benefit my…
  • A handheld GPS will serve you better than a smart phone if you really want to get into geocaching. Not all caches include trails, so be mindful of which caches you choose to do. Caches vary by terrain and skill, from searching a parking lot to kayaking or hiking through thick brush. Letterboxing is similar to geocaching,…
  • Shoes will help. Weight is likely only a very small factor in your issues. You may also want to try this: http://gizmodo.com/5902699/banish-shin-splints-forever-with-one-magical-exercise (watch the video) Ice before and after runs can help. Also, ibprofen will help with inflammation and pain. Don't quit! Take an extra rest…
  • This is awesome if you don't mind spending $40 for a sports bra. Perhaps Target will come out with knock-offs soon. I am also a bra stuffer, but I tuck the phone to the side of my boob, near my armpit.. My phone is in a hard case with the touch screen facing outward, so that it does not get sweaty. I have an arm band, and…
  • I usually have a small yogurt, piece of fruit, or a caffeinated drink (on an otherwise empty stomach) about 30 minutes prior to my morning runs. My energy level suffers if I don't. I eat my morning protein afterward.
  • I knew something was "off" with my daughter since birth. At around age 2, we had her screened by early intervention. They found a mild delay, and said she could be on the spectrum. Upon further evaluation, we concluded that she is NOT autistic. Still struggling with some things at age 8 and worsening to the point where it…
  • These are amazing! There is a pond with fountain at the park where I run, but it isn't very scenic other than that. So jealous of the autumn colored foliage!
  • I have one more run before graduating C25k and I haven't yet started Zombies, Run! (The original). I feel a little lost as to where I should start. Are all the runs in the 5k program posted somewhere?
  • http://www.skinnytaste.com/2012/10/apples-and-cinnamon-breakfast-quinoa.html I haven't tried it, just saw it on the FB page the other day.
  • Unexpectedly, I ended up running in the dark this morning due to a schedule crunch. I ended up using the flashlight app on my iPhone facing outward. It worked reasonably well, and it was fun too.
  • Bacterial pneumonia is what contributed to most of the deaths of the 1918 influenza. Today, most of those deaths could be prevented with antibiotics.
  • Vaccine injections are designed to create an immune response. This makes you more susceptible to viruses and other ickies floating about in your environment. Focusing on staying healthy is a better approach.
