  • I noticed that Chobani yogurt packs 14 grams of protein in their 6 oz. containers! Pretty darn good!
  • I'm 5' 4 1/2" and my goal is 118,
  • I sincerely want to thank everyone for these thoughtful and caring responses. Not only did you give me some great ideas, but it was rewarding seeing all the weight that you lost and your thoughts. So easy to be self-critical, and as you know, we are typically harder on ourselves than anyone else is. Thank you again; I fell…
  • What makes his statement so damn inappropriate was that your weight is your business. Unless you asked him, he should have kept his unsolicited opinion to himself.
  • Welcome shannonmax, you certainly seem highly motivated and we love that on this thread! Come back often. k4evans1 - not too shabby! Great variety! ferff3, I, too, walked during my lunch break for 30 minutes. Glad I got out there but forgot my pedometer and was bummed. I won't make that mistake tomorrow. I hope to check in…
  • Was very good with diet today and just recently returned from an hour walk with my trusty terrier. Have a great night everyone!
  • Hi guys, fell off of the wagon yesterday. Didn't walk much and ate terribly. I hope to remedy that today. I will check in again later with (hopefully) good news. In the interim, it is impressive seeing your workouts. I want to get back into gear today! Talk to you later. And please, let's all take a few minutes to think…
  • Wow, everyone is doing great . . . except for me. Barely walked 2 miles and am having difficulty motivating myself. Still I am not giving up and will continue to check in. Tomorrow is my last day (yeah!) at a stressful job with a long commute. Monday I start a new job much closer to home and more in line with my field of…
  • Welcome to the thread. Your exercise regimen is very impressive! It's easy to see how you lost all that weight with a workout like this! Congratulations.
  • Your response put a smile on my face after a long hard day!
  • I just got back from a walk with my trusty Jack Russell. Thus far today, I have walked 10,274 steps. While admittedly not bad, I keep wanting to do kickboxing but end up too tired at the day's end and lacking motivation. I am going to try to get to bed early tonight, so when I come home tomorrow, I'll have the energy to do…
  • How do you make exercise fun? Watch someone else workout while you chomp on a cheesesteak with fried onions then wash it down with an ice cold milkshake!
  • The most accurate pedometers on the market are manufactured by Omron. In fact, the Omron HJ-112 is relatively inexpensive and probably the most popular of their line. I own several Omron models, and researched them thoroughly before purchasing. They are consistently top-rated for accuracy. I know you can't go wrong with…
  • I attended two classes and am fairly sure attending a third one isn't in my immediate future. I, too, am not coordinated. These classes are very popular and both times, the room was filled to capacity. I had difficulty keeping up with the steps. Also, people feel a need to call out which got on my every last nerve. I like…
  • I love cross country skiing (NordicTrack) and am convinced it is the best form of exercise I have ever done, and here's why . . . (1) great calorie burn; (2) 50% less impact than walking; (3) it incorporates strength training and cardio. The back and forth motion also whittles the waist. Sadly, I don't think I can find 5…
  • kungfurockchick and futurehockey mom, welcome! I think you'll like it here and hope you return often. drunkwithwords, wow, 50 lbs of fruit! You're going to be drinking juice for a long time! Great work on that elliptical! DWolf, you blow me away! Could not work out that long in that heat! You are such a trooper! I admire…
  • Yipes! I did lots of walking today but my pedometer reset itself at midnight so I can't tell you how many steps or miles I completed. Tomorrow (actuallly later today), I will aim for some kickboxing. Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! Be safe, have fun, and please, don't wander too far from this thread (if possible). (BTW,…
  • Kickboxing and NordicTrack ski machine.
  • Welcome sreese4! BTW, all you guys rock - despite feeling tired, rushed, etc., you still found the time to do some activity! I'm really enjoying reading about the diverse activities fellow members are into. (It's so damn cool I don't even mind dangling a prepostion!) 1
  • Welcome emersmom04, you've come to the right place. There's not a more encouraging and supportive fitness site than this one! Lots of great people who are ready to help.
  • Very, very impressive! You are reaping the rewards of your hard work. I don't have the courage to post full body pictures and admire you for putting yourself out there! Best wishes
  • There are certain items you simply can't skimp on - a good HRM being one of them. I own a Polar and got it on ebay for close to $80. I have typically used Polar and my personal trainer is also a major fan of this brand.
  • I think everyone's mettle is tested from time to time. Almost everyone here would probably be feeling much like you described. Surround yourself with a good support network, think about counseling if you are overwhelmed and if you are able, work out your anger and depression with exercise. Your success is the best revenge.
  • Two comments: (1) You are pretty and it's unfortunate this happened to you. (2) Losing weight to help celebrate a college graduation sounds wonderful! Good luck and thanks for your post. Hey everyone, check out this article which appeared on AOL tonight . .…
  • I did it! Went shopping, came home tired, looked back on this thread - then got my kettlebell out and worked up a sweat!
  • A big "thank you" to all who posted! I was incredulous at the response my question got within such a short time! (I loaded up the dishwasher and came back to these wonderful posts.) I have two activities I want to tackle this evening - so it will either be a kettlebell workout or my trusty NordicTrack ski machine (still a…
  • My understanding is that count you get does not take into account any activity. I wear my pedometer all day and log my activity at the end of the day and my results are in line with my weight loss.
  • So glad to see this post. I have been struggling to maintain my motivation and would also like to hear from others.
  • If you go to Polar's web site, you can compare the various models and their features. I just finished exercising and I have an FT4 on and love it! (I'm not certain but one of the differences may be that one is computer compatible.
  • I, too, enjoy walking, be it on my treadmill, on the street or a track or even doing my Leslie Sansone DVDs. I have found that a pedometer is very motivating and started wearing one about 8 years ago. Since that time, I don't leave my house without it. On the very rare occasion, I forget it, I feel lost - like something's…
